Players like Gunnar & Cowie seem to be lacking form & Players like Whitts & Kenny could do with a rest.
Sadly, after not bringing new faces in, we haven't got a choice & they will probably play every game regardless.
I would definitely look at bringing Earnie back in (he's got a point to prove) to shake things up & giving Kadeem Harris game time too.
Nick, We desperately needed fresh faces, 3 or 4 and I honestly believe we would go up, lets hope we can still keep going.

The 4-5-1 formation has worked for us this season, but I think we've kicked the arse out of it, we need a couple of loan players to freshen up and allow more tactical options, if he get a decent striker in loan we'll have better options formation wise, since we have a wealth of midfield options (other than pacy wingers)

On a good note well done to Bob Marley today thought it was fantastic but people need to learn a few more words of it.
Me and my 2 sons always listen to Bob on the way to the ground have done for ages.
It was class today hope we keep it up Bob would be proud.

Yea today it didnt come off for us but away from home it has done us well.We do need to add some players.

Annis with the lack of depth, quality and more importantly experience in our squad it is going to be a huge ask for us to keep in touch with the automatic promotion places.
The game today was the perfect example of that with Blackpool having the warhorse Ferguson in Centre Midfield and Phillips and Bedner on the bench. As good a prospect as Mason and Gestede are in tight games like today experience so often proves the key factor.
Kevin Phillips movement, passing and finishing was absolutely superb and thats the difference we cannot expect players like Gestede to have the same effect on a game as Kevin Phillips.
For me this is what we are missing and is a big factor in why we seemingly cannot hold onto a lead, 21 points now dropped from winning positions.
Tiredness, over playing some players and lack of numbers are all valid points and in fairness you have been highlighting our shortage of numbers for months. But for me we need that experienced oldhead to help our team hold onto a lead, 21 times out of 29 games we have scored first but have lost 21 points from winning positions.
We have a good team, a tremendous work ethic and no small amount of quality but Mason, Gestede and Ralls should be squad players where is our experience?
Earnie of course is one experienced player and I think he as had one start in four months away at a PL club. He scores one goal and sets up another but cannot get a look in.
Firstly get Earnie on the bench and secondly sign experienced, seasoned players with a winning mentality to support the brilliant young players we already have.

Agree 100% Annis - it's not rocket science . We're not having a go at MM , he has mega support from the faithful & deservedly so BUT we dont have enough in terms of quantity / quality on the books . There are a number of reasons why we will HAVE to freshen the team for the coming months - loss of form / fatique / injury/ suspension ! The Hammers & S'ton have already done so last month . I'm poso Malky will bring some faces in on-loan and it is vital that he does so for the reasons I'm sure we all appreciate . A tidy performance today wudda seen us take the big , big psychological step of sitting in the top two tonight given the result from St Andrews - there again no point crying ova spilt milk - onwards & upwards !

We were utter crap and have been for quite a few games now in the league. I've made this point before , but only this time there was no result to cover up the lack of performance.
Same old problems , no pace on the wings , no help for miller up front and I'm sorry to say Malky subs made no sense today and Gestede is looking more of a lame duck than Earnie .
Have to laugh at the ones that ever thought we had a pray of going up automatically . Keep the faith lads and keep on dreaming, because that's all its ever be ...

Not being negative but we needed to bring the players in during the January window. There are going to be very few decent players available during the loan period. The players have done great up until now but they can not do it week in week out. We have been crying out for a bit of depth in a few positions and it's not happened. So near yet so far. Heard that before.

We have to believe we can do it because we have been doing it the table doesn't lie does it.We do need some fresh faces though I no but lets not give it up.
We spent years in the lower leagues watching and enjoying shit I will keep the faith and keep dreaming thanks.

Still a chance of auto, at least we are placed for it.
Agree we have been poor more like below par lately. Fortunately other teams around us have also. We need ot pick up next game.

To leave signing players until 90 minutes before deadline or on dedline day is pathetic - this will haunt us - we need 3-4 players if we want promo = loan market starts get them in first day - excuses about waiting for prem clubs to release doesnt stand up esp as we did not go for two players in prem

Good relevant point, & one that i have thought myself.
Like Ollie said earlier, if we wanted to buy Matt Phillips for the price that we offered, then we should have done it when he was with Wycombe.

Merlin wrote:Mason, mcphail, Blake should have started IMO, whitts needs a rest, mcnaughton still wasn't fit and I think Mason is needed more than Ralls, at the moment. That's my opinion. Taking Kenny off for Gestede in a game like that was silly and I would have probably given Harris a start even though we were losing to get him some game time in our stadium.
Problem is though Merlin GAME TIME is in short supply for too many players.Earnie,Gestede,Blake(imo)and now we have Harris in the mix.My worry is will these players ever get enough "GAME TIME".

annis ,you know im a brum fan so perhaps not too qualified to talk about ccfc but i,ll post what i think/know.ccfc have done great so far.perhaps a few new bodies are needed.loans are fine so your not stuck with players you don,t want/need next season.i think malky is right not just to buy players for the sake of it but a few loans would help you out.what i do know for a fact is any player with a knock or who is a bit jaded isn,t going to want to rest now.the final beckons.remember bcfc last year?the players knocks/injuries all kicked in after our glorious victory.before we knew it was freefall and relegation.when some of the players had a few weeks out and returned they returned to a side shy on confidence.you know the rest.i think if earnie got on late in games he would be raring to show mm he should be playing.ok you,ll have to go 4.4.2 but if your chasing a game you would do that anyway.proven net finder.to use him would be like signing a new player as he,s a stranger to your team.the money you have made might be going on filling the monthly gap between wages, debts and incomings off gates etc.from where i sit you have a great season.i do think with what you have got though its play off material/top 10.this is how i see it from the outside.by the way i also think birmingham could with a few loans.left wing in particular

Gary in my opinion best post of the week and virtually everything that I have been saying for months.
We will regret not strengthening.

Brilliant in both the palace games IMO.
We have has some hard games.
People think brum getting a draw at St Andrews against Soton is a good result for them.
Yet we have no praise for our team going to St Mary's and getting a draw despite there amazing home form.

Luke on the point regarding us at Southampton, you have a very good point there, we should be praising that draw.

Maybe the deadline day overlooked it but I think they said soton were 28 undefeated at home.
We haven't lost since mid December, compare that to DJ reign of inconsistency I think we should give MM and the players more praise than they get after ONE loss

Luke,
Very true, I am more though getting worried that our players are looking tired and we should of strengthened, on these points I stand strong on.

It's really hard to be honest, cos we'll all cover up our disappointment of today by saying we would have jumped at third in early Feb at start of season, but one thing I don't get is if we were serious about trying to sign Matty Phillips and only bid 5/6 hundred thousand, why do we then allegedly give up when we supposedly bid £3 million for Sordell??
We could have got Phillips and probably a promising youngster for the same £3 million, I don't get it?
Sun Feb 05, 2012 12:27 am
A winger and striker would have been nice for sure.
Even if we signe sordell tho for 3m I don't think it would have changed much today. He would have been sub and it was the defence that was the problem.
Everyone has off days and we had ours all one one go
U felt midfield needed refreshing and kiss, mcphail and ralls have done well previously for us and can again if played in the right games.

What I like about MM is that he isn't a standard sub manager. Ie DJ on 70mins, like for like.
MM looks at the situation at Soton and he felt rudy could offer more.
Today he felt mason would offer more.
Totally different players, but at least he assesss the situation and does what he can. Will work sometimes and not others.

hi annis,i had a feeling the owner's wouldn't spend any cash in transfer window,i feel sorry 4 malky, player's,fans etc.is miller the only player we have paid a fee 4?.what i don't understand is if and that's a big if we bid 3mill for that watford player, why didn't they up their bids 4 noone and philips,it doesn't add up if u ask me.have the owner's got any ambition.2 me they r hoping 2 get promoted on the cheap.malky needs 2 be backed by them,no sign off them doing it sadley.cheer's hoppo

The reality of Blackpool being our bogey team is different, I am afraid.
In fact, before today Blackpool hadn't beaten us at home since 1995.
