Has he signed the new deal yet?

Hmm very interesting Luke, I wonder what NJ73 has to say.

The board were quite right. No fee had been agreed with Peterborough but the player was on his way here for a medical while negotiations were still taking place (all this while we were playing Chelsea remember). The player had a call to say turn around and go to Norwich as Norwich had offered more than our proposed deal.

Norwich have agreed a deal with Peterborough worth £4.5m. I am very happy our board decided that price was too high for a young player who has not played above Championship level.

As a club, we are not yet in a position to take punts like that. Certainly not until our Premier League place is secured for another season.

As for the comments on Rodgers, he was obviously disappointed as he wanted the player and would have probably thought the deal was being done. But to say the trust has been lost now is nonsense as Rodgers said "I won't dwell on it. I make my point on why I think we should have done it and then I move on."

There will be far better value available in the summer anyway as the January market is overpriced.

'and then I move on'....

In practise though, if its too much money then its too much, money.

Both of our clubs should know not to spend what they can't afford.

£10m on players on top of last years £8m loss, there probably isn't a huge amount left to play with from this seasons money so maybe sensible enough to wait until your place is secured.

I would think brenda knows more about young players than your suits. After all the he has done you would think he would be backed.

He has signed the new deal??

He has been backed considerably this season and last but it will always be down to the board decide if a fee is affordable and value, not the manager, which is how it should be.

No, he has not signed the new deal yet as far as I'm aware.

If he is affordable I agree, the value of money should be down to the manager if he is trusted.

It's fairly clear that Peterborough were in the process of playing us off against Norwich in order to get as high a fee as possible, as is their right.

Our board felt that the deal was no longer in the interests of the club and therefore pulled the plug. I am more than happy to have our club run that way tbh.

That's fine if he is to expensive for you.

But it seems he was affordable but the suits didn't think he was worth it, which in turn questions brendas judgement.

The fee we were negotiating with Peterborough would have been affordable but when Norwich gazumped us it was obviously either deemed unaffordable, or the board decided they were not going to get into a bidding war. Who is to say if we hadn't matched the £4.5m deal then Norwich wouldn't have upped it to £6m for instance.

The board felt it was right to pull the plug and they have my 100% backing on that as custodians of the club.

It has nothing to do with the board not backing Rodgers judgement.

Rogers has said he disgarees with the boards decision.

Who do you trust the judgement of the suits or Brenda?

I trust the board to do what is right for the long term future of the club.

Rodgers is more than entitled to disagree with their decision and I'm sure he has disagreed with their decisions on other occasions, as has every manager at every club with their respective boards.

It's part of the dynamic between board and manager.

So you just couldn't afford him then?

You'll have to ask our board that as I don't have that knowledge sorry.

I'm not that interested lol.

Just all seems very odd to me. I'd be furious if we could afford a player and TG blocked it because he didn't agree with te valuation of MM
