Shearer turned you down cos he knew there was piss all money to spend. He would also have known that all your big players were off.

Hats off to MM for having the balls to take the job on.

Gethin Jenkins and Alan Whitley chose Malky, no one else.He was chosen by Jenkins as he wanted someone not so well known and not being some ones runaround like he was for Dave Jones.
I admit I could not stand Jenkins as I believe he was not the man for us,which proved later he was not, but fair play, he chose by accident Malky and I have to say thank you Gethin Jenkins. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I wonder how we would of done under Alan Shearer ?

truth,no one will ever know what would have happened under shearer, but as it stands,i dont think he would have or could have done any better than malky. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Kevin,

Steve Davies, is virtually spot on
" In all seriousness though he did not believe that with the level of debt the club had at the time that they would give him the backing he wanted in the transfer market."

We could not give him the big budget he wanted and I for one, glad we never. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I wanted Malky from the start - so much so I had a few quid on him at 35/1 - more in hope.

I understand why people would have liked Shearer - big rep and all that. But he had nothing as far as managerial record goes (apart from a short dismal spell at NUFC).

Malky did a great job at Watford and I remember after our matches against them, how passionate and well presented he was in interviews. He knows this league very well.

However, did I expect us to be 3rd and going to a Carling Cup final? NO.

Malky has even exceeded my expectations. What an appointment it turned out to be :ayatollah: We had a lucky escape with Shearer imo.

Since when did a world record transfer to your boyhood club and being the Premier League's top ever scorer make someone a loser? :?

On topic: In all honesty I was disappointed when Malky was appointed, but it was obviously the best decision and he's proven me wrong. At the time I was hoping for either Hughton or Di Matteo, but would have settled for Shearer.

It's turned out well so far, though, and I thank Malky for what he's done - turned Cardiff City into a team, rather than a squad of egos. :D
