Re: " DEBATE WITH A WELSH LIVERPOOL FAN TODAY "

When I was in school in the mid 70's , football games in the playground at lunchtime were always "Liverpool fans" against "Leeds fans".

There was one lad who supported Man City ( ) who always played on the "Liverpool fans" side and I, as the ONLY City fan in my year, had to play for the Scummers!

School can be such a cruel place!

Lack of ambition at the time in selling Tosh, didnt he score 5 goals against Hull just days before transfer?

If that's the Hull game I'm thinking of my Dad told me only a few weeks ago about when he went to that as part of a free tickets scheme for his school.

He was saying that when it was 0-0 Cardiff were singing the "All we are singing, is give us a goal" and they scored.

Then they started chanting "We want two, we want two!"

And they scored another.

Then it was "We want three! We want three!"

and another goes in.

"We want four we want four!"

"We want five, we want five!"

Sounds brilliant

Amazing when you think about it isn't it?

I would like to think that if there was still a lunchtime kickabout happening in schools nowadays ( probably not due to Health and Safety or the kids being too busy on their Blackberrys) that there would be enough City fans to at least get a team together to play the Liverpool, Man United or Chelsea supporting kids.

As you said in your book Annis, the players used to come to the schools occasionally and give out free tickets yet still none of the kids supported the City!

I supported liverpool in the 80s cos my hero was ian rush. my dad used to take me to watch wales and midweek my local team merthyr tydfil. Went to watch him play on a saturday. Only city game he ever took me to was cardiff v
swansea when i was about six (1983). Someone won 3-2 but i cannot remember who.

When I was 15 i started following city with my mate. i still looked out for liverpools result. they were my
'premier league' team but as i got older i find myself despising the whinging scouse fuckers and everything they stand for.

The support cardiff get from people living in the city is quite frankly appaling.

More than half the fans are from the surrounding areas.
