It's simple really..the club requested "no pitch invasion" but people chose to ignore that and do it anyway, stewards are there to stop people from doing this. You're not gonna get anywhere asking fans "would you mind getting back off the pitch sir" you have to physically prevent them getting on the pitch, over zealous stewards are under pressure from the club's hierachy to do certain tasks and on this occasion it was to stop people from entering the playing area, if I'd run on the pitch I'd have no qualms about being forcibly removed by stewards, I'd know the risks and accept them if I was caught, I wouldn't be whingeing like a kitten.

Fair comment, but it doesn't excuse some of the behaviour last night. Those kids didn't deserve that.

It's got nothing to do with 'manning up' mate - it makes the club look like sh*t!

Let's be honest, if we were watching a team on TV that we hated (the Jacks being the perfect example here) and we saw their stewards grappling with a bunch of teenagers and throwing them off the pitch by their b0ll0cks while 2000 other fans happily jump around and celebrated around them, we'd all be saying "Look at those inbred Swansea thugs - what a bunch of bellends!"

Whereas if we saw them all jumping around together, with the stewards enjoying the moment and celebrating with the fans, while it would totally pain us all to say it, deepdown we'd all be thinking "Fair play, I wish we had an atmosphere like that down the City!"

Well that is how pretty much the entire rest of England look at us! Go on the Palace messageboard this morning, it's full of people moaning how 'Cardiff are a bunch of thugs, their fans are a disgrace, shouldn't even be in the English League, we don't want them in the Prem, blah blah blah blah blah....'

Last night was a great chance to show the proper passion flowing throughout the club and it's fans and what happens......a load of over the hill fat little stewards who think they're in the Secret Service protecting Barack Obama are seen in the background throwing teenagers around and acting like a bunch of c*nts - totally over-reacting to the situation.

Yes I know their job is to get people of the pitch, but the 8 guys with a piece of rope did a far better job WITHOUT making us look like a club of w*nkers!

mate, me and a few of the boys were saying its so embarrasing. Know few of the players and can tell you they hate it as they just want to celebrate on the pitch, can undersand a few 15 year olds going on but the grown men need to look at themselves, stewards just doing their jobs

although that treatment by the steward is OTT and not acceptable in any way, why put him in that position in the first place when the club sent emails and we all have sense to know not to run onto the pitch.

i don't understand why they didn't just let everyone on the pitch anyway. that way there would have been no problems it's not like they went over to palace end or anything

you will have to ask the ground staff that one they raised the issue that they didnt want fans on the pitch tearing up the field as its not the end of the season its halfway through and they were very keen not to have fans on the pitch. Thats what i was told in my briefing anyway

It was obvious a pitch invasion would happen if we won hence the ropes. It was generally good natured but some stewards were right over the top. They cannot manhandle you it is assault. Some were lucky people are fully aware of cameras as otherwise they would have had a shoeing, one was choking some young lad . Thought he was some type of hero. Probably telling all his mates this morning. Fecking nobodies . As for players upset about invasion, BOLLOCKS! The Malaysians even took to the field , they thought it was great. So Jonny steward and co crack a tin of red stripe open have a smoke" put on Bob Marley ,learn the words ready for wembley and remember when we were shit :ayatollah: :old:

IF i was 15 I'd probably run on the pitch, but if I got rugby tackled and then forcibly taken back to the seats I'd accept it, I'd have rolled the dice and come unstruck, I wouldn't whinge on here. :D

Re: HOW DO I COMPLAIN ABOUT THE STEWARDS ?

Lets be honest about this whole situation, it was plain to see what was going to happen because even from the top of the Canton stand you could see people leving their seats and making their way down to the bottom of the stand as soon as the match went to penalties. A bit of sensible stewarding and policing would have prevented the pitch invasion, for goodness sake all they had to do was form a line of stewards and police infront of the congregating crowd. They used this tactic in the cup match against Leicester when there were less fans in the Canton stand so there was no reason that they couldn't have done the same last night.

Any steward found to have overstepped the mark though should be heavily reprimanded, i saw a steward pin a teenager to the floor and appeared to be kneeling on his head with his knee to keep the lad imobile, fair play to a few city fans who came to his rescue though.. pulling the obviously overzealous steward off the lad and helping him up.

In my opinion the pitch invasion just showed the passion that the fans have for the club and the work ethic of the players who had made them proud for 120 mins of the game and added to the atmosphere and euphoria of getting to the League Cup final and a 4th wembley apppearance. Watching the fans hugging Tom Heaton as they celebrated was a real joy!.

Should the pitch invasion have happened, probably not...but i'm sure as hell glad it did and top marks for those who had the guts to show the "thug"stewards that we are Cardiff City and we'll do what we want  :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
