With regards to the dilemma of the stadium expansion, I am led to believe that the 60,000 footprint can be realised simply by allowing more walkways at the back of the ninian stand. Furthermore, Sloper Road and additional approach roads would be closed to traffic for up to to an hour before and after kick off.
There may also be a lower safety certificate for night games. Nothing new there, as Wembley used to be limited to 92,000 for night games due to similar issues.
That said, I am led to believe that a 37,000 capacity requires only minor adjustments at the time of writing.

I was told by someone that the stadium capacity can be extended quite easily, and a further 8 rows of seats can be added around to the current capacity with ease.
Yes thats for 35,000 Dai, I think the permission for 60,000 has now gone for ever due to the sales of all the lands around etc.

I'm glad that our owners are realistic enough to realise that a 60K stadium is a non starter.

Liverpool and Everton did a similar purchase agreement when developing their hemmed in stadiums.Liverpool bought a few streets after an elderly resident opposed to expansion passed away.
Besides, the retail outlets (and hotel)were in the original stadium plan.

Arsenal has had a long time of success with a much higher budget and a catchment area of people from all over London.
We have a championship side with relatively good success in recent years but nothing compared to them with no where near the budget and a much smaller catchment area.

Yes but if we spent years in the Premier League, we have a catchment area of at least one million people and no decent team near us for over a 100 miles, we would get those crowds, I am quite sure of it.

In that much time if we're that successful we can just buy the millennium stadium. It'll be close to bankruptcy by that point.

carlccfc wrote:As I announced on here last night Mehmet Dalman has been registered as a director of Cardiff City Football Club, Dalman is effectively replacing U-Jiun Tan on the board of directors. Dalman was registered as a director on 10/01/12 at Companies House. Dalman is a football man and as you have read probably today that he has been around football for a long time.
U-Jiun is pursuing other interests and he being replaced has no bearing on the Malaysians position at the club.
Dalman has spent weeks going through the due diligence process and I am told is not just becoming a director but will be investing into the club as well. He has experience and expertise at brokering deals and Dalman becoming a director bears more than just a coincidence with some information I was told last night.
I have been led to believe that the Langston and PMG debts will be dealt with and it is expected that both will be completed this summer, everything I have been told about Dalman is positive and that his appointment is a very good acquisition by the club.
As we know Malky, Steve Borley and Alan Whiteley are in Malaysia and that the primary reason is to support the 1MCC grass roots foundation but if anyone thinks that Malky is not there discussing the possibility to have more funds to spend in the transfer window is somewhat naïve.
I can confirm that the club does have an interest in Jamie Mackie, QPR, but no offer has been made because I am told that up to this point the budget will not stretch to the £1.5million that QPR are seeking, added to that is Mackie is on a very high wage at Loftus Road. There is interest from other clubs for Mackie so if City wish to get him then Malky has to hope that he is given more money to spend in this window.
With the Craig Noone bid, I am told there is a ‘bit of poker’ going on at present and Malky was hoping to play it all out behind the scenes but once it got out in the press then his cover was blown, it is expected that an improved offer will be made for Noone.
Steve Borley is out in Malaysia to discuss the ‘House of Sport 2’ that he is planning on building next to the original building and when this is built it will give the club the grade 2 academy level that they are just shy of at the moment.
As I said in a previous update Aaron Wildig completed an extension to his Shrewsbury loan and he will now stay on loan until the end of the season.
This afternoon I took a call and amongst various subjects regarding City, one in particular caught my attention more than the rest. I was told, and I don’t know myself if this is 100% fact or not, that since the buildings went up around the outskirts of the stadium, ie. KFC, McDonalds, Sand Martin then we can no longer increase our stadium capacity to the 60,000 figure that was always heralded when the stadium build started, apparently because of the lack of exits then we would not be allowed to increase to such a capacity. If this is indeed true then I am gobsmacked that the regime who allowed this to happen, actually went for short term survival over long term planning. I will be asking more questions tomorrow about this to see if it is indeed true.
The club are very happy with the recent surge in sales of Crystal Palace tickets but would like to remind supporters that there is a more important game taking place and that is the Portsmouth game on Saturday, the club hope that City fans turn up in their thousands and buy tickets for this game before Saturday but have also asked to me to announce that you can buy Palace tickets on Saturday prior to the Pompey game.

So it is hard to understand why their building has affected the potential capacity of CCS, unless the 60,000 idea was dropped at a very early stage of development.
