Well look at the statistics of what drinking costs in real terms, the effect on nurses etc in A&E every weekend, the violence involved on them. Not a case of blaming people its looking at why people are addicted.

never done neither so doesnt apply to me.

again thats down to self control and self respect for me.

Addiction is a disease; progressive, incurable and fatal. One way or another addicts go out and buy their destruction on the time payment plan! All of them from the junkie snatching purses to the sweet little old lady hitting two or three doctors for legal prescriptions, have one thing in common; they seek their destruction a bag at a time, a few pills at a time, or a bottle at a time until they die.

I give up drink and drugs,

I became obsessed with how my body looked, I wouldn't even go for pub lunch with the work lads, as It interfeared with my healthy eating regime, and my perfected body through training every day sometimes twice..

all my friends drank or done coke, and i was dedicated to training , not even making money from fighting or running. so i started drinking again

johnie,we started our own.its 4yr old in june.what we do is we have a format what we stick to.ie tonight we are up to more about alcoholism .we read to half way down page 38.then we share on that only.we can use our own exp on it .the group cons is we stick to what we,ve read.you need like minded people to start it up though.whats great is to see folk get into the bb from day 1.a lot of meets have become opinions not fact and ddon,t concentrate on the spiritual angle.iv the sheets for bb meet format.if you want some i can post you some.any newcomers we always read the docs opinion to them.

Lots of people take drugs every weekend. I'd say that's habit rather than addiction.

I am a dual diagnosis practitioner here in Oz working with people who have drug and mental health issues. It is suprising who turns up for help. Mostly not your steriotypical junky types.

Most addicts get addicted to sex, booze, gambling or drugs due to self medicating undiagnosed mental illness such as PTSD or depression. Many brothers who fought for us, fought with us, served us beers, gave us mortgages, parented us and worked with us suffer from addiction.

It is cureable. I have seen it. All my opinion of course.

at the end of the day the majoroty of addicts or low life scum, junkies who take any drug weather it be meow, coke or heroin are all a f*cking skid mark on the world, yet people will make excuses for them, let them al fester out and be done with them.
