time served is doubled and taken off the sentence....so he was sentenced to 3 years, if he served 100 days on remand, thats 200 days taken off his sentence.

Many City fans got 10 year bans for Stoke.

You get a 5 year ban for going on the pitch.

Makes you mad, should be a lifetime ban with a harsher prison sentence.
I thought football sentences were sold to us as being so harsh as they were there as a detterant.

Call me stupid....and most people do, but how can somebody be convicted for 4 years for sitting at a computer or mobile phone for "inciting violence" and a person who uses physical violence which directly leads to a family man's death only get a conviction for 3 years!!!!

Unfortunately, although I am staggered, speechless and heartbroken for Mikey's family, this does not surprise me.

Essentially what the "justice system" are saying (and I use that term very loosely because the word "justice" implies that there is some!!!) is that somebody's property is more important and valued more than a person's life!!! Unreal . What have we become?

I gave up on the Police many year's ago, but always hoped that justice would prevail through the legal system, in spite of the Police wrong doings. Now I give up on both. It's every man for himself and f**k the system.

Annis just read your post. If the circumstances were not so tragic I would suggest you were having a joke.

A 3 year sentence (or 18 months with good behaviour) is nothing.

I am sure the families will be aware that they can appeal - but this does, on the face of it, appear a very light sentence.

Murder may not have been the motive. But Serious Physical injury must have been - and in my eyes that deserves a longer sentence

Also in the Paper article they likened it to a Boxing match where one Punch that was so hard it Killed Mikey !! But what it didn't say was unlike a Boxing match the Punch was thrown from behind without Mikey even knowing he was there.

three years ...that is madness.lord knows how m.d family must be feeling.to show the madness of this sentence i had a mate who got lifted on that ferry that got turned back in 1986.man utd fan.got done for throwing a bin at west ham.got four years.got it reduced to two on appeal after he,d done eighteen months.my thoughts are with m.d family.

I'm normally quite laid back but the more I think of this the more outraged I feel.

The guy that murdered Mikey will probably spend 6 months inside and then another 6 at an open prison like Prescoed - possibly followed by some sort of tagging order.

Let's be honest with ourselves. This was not a football offence. This was a cold blooded killing which, if it happened in a shopping arcade, would have been met with a more serious punishment.

From the newspaper reports the punch was of 'sickening' proportions which to me rules out the leniency of a manslaughter charge and conviction.

When you factor in the xenophobic language Mytton used along with the gang mentality (5 England fans vs. 2 Welsh fans) a murder charge (or at least a stiffer Manslaughter sentence) should have been pursued.

Finally the comments of the Judge who described Mytton's jailing as 'heartbreaking' was totally out of order and if it was up to me I would pursue the c**t through the Judicial Complaints System.
