i understand that mate, but apparantly the word used by suarez has a different meaning in south america to what it does in the spanish language, im not doubting evras ability to be bilingual however i do doubt he really knew what suarez was saying...

he called him "negro" means the same in whatever country you happen to be in, but in south america they dont deem it as racist.

if i shouted a racist comment from the stands i bet id have been banned from every ground in britain for 3 to 5 years! ... the same rule should have applied to suarez and john terry if found guity .... no sod it, kick the racist bastards out of football altogether .... like the signs say "LETS KICK RACISM OUT OF FOOTBALL"

The liverpool statement contradicts itself. First off it claims no-one heard anything being said, then further down it claims what Suarez said is mis-interpreted and not offensive in uruaguay.....So liverpool, he either said it or he didnt....can't be both.

maybe no liverpool players did actually hear what suarez said, but the club have obviously asked luis what he said to evra in building a case and thats what he claims he said. clearly they stand by their man..

liverpool have not denied he didnt say anything, just that nobody whether, manchester united, liverpool or a match offical did hear what was said.

Suarez hasn't been found guilty on Evra's evidence alone, as he appears to have admitted using certain racist language, but used the defence, that it is the norm in Uruguay and therefore he didn't know it was offensive in this country!

To be honest, I didn't think that the word Negro was specifically racist, as it doesn't seem any more racist than a coloured person calling a white person a white man!

He was always going to be charged no matter what....this way the authorities save face and it falls on the judges to "let the people down" when he's found not guilty.....too high profile a person for it not to go to court.

I wish people would read up all the facts before spouting shite, Terry did use the phrase black c**t. Only in the context of "i called him a blind c**t not a black c**t"

As for LFC statement, they say no-one heard what suarez said, yet further down they claim in uruguay what he said isnt deemed as racist.....So which is it, he either said nothing, or said something.

People should not let their dis-like for teams cloud the subject, Evra himself said in his statement he believes Suarez is not a racist, but used a racist comment........he might not have known it was racist, but that's his and LFC's fault for not intergrating him in the culture properly, after all, he is plying his trade in the UK and not Uruguay.

My fear is that Suarez used the term 'Negro' in much the same way as we would

No, what Suarez has admitted was calling him a word that is not a racist comment in his own country. We don't know if it was the term "Negro". What the statement says to me is that Suarez used a word against Evra, and then Evra has decided to say he used a different word that was racist with no ones backup, which as I stated earlier, is wrong.

The misconduct was using a word without understanding the context.

TBH Liverpool have a lot to answer for as they should have made the player fully aware of possible pitfalls when getting into wind ups with other players.

Whilst Suarez didn't use the word Negro, the sound of the word he used was very similar and frankly he would have known better had his club educated him a little better.
