I don't see why not, be a good deal if we get him for free...

Plus he knows how to play with Kenny...

We wouldn't get him for free, signing on fee + wages + bonuses.

Play with Kenny? Sure - Miller did the leg work, Boyd hung around six yard box.

Except that's not how we play. For one, we're playing the lone striker role - Boyd has no work ethic, so that's scrapped. We would then lose the 3 in midfield who have been effective this season to get boyd in there.

Plus that then takes away from valuable game time for Mason and Gestede.

I mean free as in NO TRANSFER FEE... I still think hed be worth a punt, he's a better option than Gestede, plus it would be less pressure on Masons shoulders, if he got us 10 goals from now till the end of the season would be worth a shot, I'd prefer someone like Jordan Rhodes or Billy Sharp mind.....

No transfer fee = bigger signing on fee, wages, n=bonuses.

Better option than Gestede? People were raving about Gestede pre-injury. Gestede has more of a physical presence, certainly gets stuck in. Boyd is a lazy "poacher", relying on things being handed on a plate.

Less pressure on mason's shoulders? He seems a fairly calm cookie.

I just can't understand why anyone would favour bringing in somebody that has proven to be average at best at this level over Gestede or Mason, ESPECIALLY given the Boyd ticks none of the boxes established by Mackays signings - namely, good engines, high work ethic.

To be honest I agree that he wouldn't keep up with this current team, I don't want him to replace Mason I think Mason has a massive future with us, and I like him a lot! I don't think Malky would consider Boyd but I think in games like saturday were we could have done with someone who we can loft the ball to and take a gamble he would have been a better option than Mason IMO

Terry Phillips just posted on his Twitter ;

"Had a call from Scotland saying Cardiff City to sign Kris Boyd in January. Can't see that happening. A non-starter for me."

Nerd just because he was lazy? Does that mean MM cant get the best out of him?
If Miller can handle this league which is what he showing then why not?
Not much good opitions around for a decent price in our budget?
I would take this risk we got Earnie in our team and hes useless no offence if hes not 'working' hard in training shos he cant keep up with our training and work rate. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: BREAKING: Kris Boyd

All the against comments make me think back to pre miller, look what a difference he has made. I'll welcome him, the probability of him coming in and doing well is very likely IMO. If he is do to well anywhere, it's going to be here with his countrymen around him....that why I think it's a punt worth taking. It will give Malky more options putting 2 up front etc, take the pressure of possible injuries upfront with 4 front men and it will enable Rudy to grow into the British game gradually with less pressure on him.

Come on in!!! :ayatollah:

1) Scottish football is indeed crap. Take a look at Boyd's record against Celtic, their only real opposition. Then compare that to the goals scored against others. Illustrative.

2) Boro, 6 goals in 27 games. Impressive.

3) So impressive that a struggling Boro side loaned him out. To a rival.

4) Forest, 6 goals in 10 games. 4 of those came in a 2 game patch, leaving a whopping 2 in 8 league games. Impressive.

5) Unless the ball is teed up in the box for him, he's absolutely anonymous.

6) Mackay plays the team with a high tempo, high workrate style. See point 5.

7) Incredibly lazy in training, as numerous clubs fans have confirmed.

8) Such a great scorer, on the bench in key games for Rangers in Europe.

9) 7 in 16 international games. Didn't like Burley so pulled a strop and "retired".

Yup, clearly a great signing.

Whilst Im am neither here or there with Kris Boyd. His timing is interesting, with the January window fast approaching is he making himself available for immediate discussions with possible suitors in order to play as soon as the window opens.
