Responding to the original post by Carl.

Yes - Malky is speaking out, and i tend to agree with you.

I think though, he has said that 'we're on a budget' then 'the board are behind me' now 'we need players'

all statements are obvious to us fans, and most of us agree that we need to live within our means whilst the depth of squad is being built.

recently though, TG has said remarks that if you read between the lines, are saying, we are ok as we are.

Malky and his team are working their bollox off tracking new players and MM is basically responding to TG by saying that if we want to get anywhere there is more building to do and we would be fortunate to get in the play offs with our current squad.

Malky has warned of us of inflated prices

He is saying to TG, trust me and back me financially if you want to get anywhere.

if not, it will take time and the board and we as fans should not raise our expectations.

I for one think that when he puts his players list in - the board only want the free ones.

only january will tell :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

VT/TG have put more money into this club than anyone Ever has - £12m in shares. Forget loans etc.. because by their very nature they need to be paid back.

If they dont' put another penny in they have done well. However, the club loses £500k a month just to stay competitive - and I'm sure the majorit of that is coming form one source.

I REALLY hope that Malky can bring in 3-4 good players in Jan, but if he doesn't, although we will NOT go up without them i won't complain.

The club has to stand on its own 2 feel, we are lucky to have someone who will back us up and put the extra in to afford the likes of Turner (who is the 2nd best centre half I've seen in a blue shirt -after Gabbidon) and Miller, (who every single club in this division would love to have ) we've no God given right to be above Coventry, Derby and Forest.

Malky is a superb manager who I will back even if we lose the next 10, but the club HAS to be run as a business - we surely want it to be here long after Miller, Turner, Whittingham Marshall and Superkev have gone, in my case long after I've gone so my kids and hopefully my grandkids will have a focus for their pride in who they are and where they are from, because for many, many of us, its more than football.

On this occasion I fully agree with you Tim. A gamble on promotion by spending money we don't have is a gamble with our clubs existance and I don't want any part of that.

The first target this season should be 50 points (usually enough to avoid relegaton) after that we should just take one game at a time and see where it leads us.

Praps one of the best threads on here for a while this is

My two-penneth worth is this.

We ALL want new players and a stronger squad. I think our owners are well aware of this. But
as has been pointed out, if Malky goes to them with a list, they will home in on the cheaper
option. Can we complain?.. Nope. Can we wish for an expensive super-star, of course we can.

There are those on this board who back Sam to the hilt, and good for them. Sam is
the reason we arent floundering around the 4th division. He is. But slowly but surely, the
Malaysian gentlemen are winning us all over. Not with words but with actions. This Club is
going places.

I've noticed there are far less "The chancers are off in the summer" threads now

But nor are there any "im worried I may have been wrong about them leaving" threads either

Fans can ask for more players/fans can debate it and have opinions, yes or no ?

Yes but these in most cases are the same fans that wanted us to run a tight ship and live with-in our means and when the Club does just that, they want new players brought in ECT.

Like Rodney Marsh would say, be careful what you wish for, because sometimes it comes true . Though it would be nice to see Malky backed as he's only really made 2 bad signings with Earnie and Conway . I think it time we cut our losses with Earnie and got him off the wage structure, its seems pretty obvious now, he not really in our plans
