my appologies hard work keeping up on a phone,
yes steve i got the message

see above lol
annis thank you very much.
its fine, i think it sums up though that the malaysian flag has every right to be there and around the stadium, but as a gesture from the club a few welsh flags should be put up there too
Wed Nov 30, 2011 3:00 pm
jezz i never once said it didnt deserve to be there (well i dont think i did ?)
what i was complaining about was a lack of welsh identity,
and the fact from a viewing audience it looks like our stadium may as well be in kuala lumpa,
apart from the cost of the flags, what would it cost to reconginse our stadium as the welsh capitols stadium of football ?
i mean if the walls are bare cover them
Wed Nov 30, 2011 4:05 pm
I actually thought they looked quite good. Some people are thinking into this a little too much. If you're not happy with it then bring your own flags and hang them up like some of our fans do every game. We are not losing our identity.

we are a welsh club in the capitol of wales, and from an outside viewer looking in it may as well be in kuala lumpur.
there is nothing inside our stadium to say who we are, and dont tell me you or i dont pay anything for that right.
I noticed the same last night and agree.
They might be our saviours and apparent sponsors but I don't want us to sell our soul and heritage for money or success.

Can someone please name me a club the size of ours that has gone out of business?
There are clubs in Ireland with avergae crowds of 3k, that are 10million sterling in debt - they don't go out of business.
Hearts haven't. Rangers haven't. Pompey haven't.
Bolton are supposedly 90 million in debt. Any fear they will go out of business? No
I will never buy the argument that they saved us: they merely saw a business opportunity that they thought would reap rewards for them quickly and on the cheap.

No problem with the Malaysian flags but they should be accompanied by a Welsh one.
Wed Nov 30, 2011 5:28 pm
I don’t see a problem with them, simply because its just advertising, and if I was paying Tax bills, wages and the like I would want some kind of return.
Every team in the UK has the same "identity issue".
Old Trafford has Umbro in the seats, Liverpool has Adidas on the seating in the Main Stand and so on....
If identity is an issue, why has nobody ever mentioned why the Cardiff City badge on the kit (or indeed the tiny Welsh Flag) so small in comparison to the shirt sponsorship.
What is the difference between the Flags ( which can be removed ) to the 40 year Old Captain Morgan Rum advert which was on the old Bob Bank roof ??
You cant just moan about a few flags without looking at the full picture.

I think having a flag where it is half Malaysian and half Welsh would be good. Showing a bond between the two countries which is what our club is right now. A flag or PR promoting Malaysia is not going to alter the identity of the club. We, the fans, are the identity of the club. We will only no longer be Welsh if us fans stop being proud of who we are and where we come from.

Steve, our stadium is covered in Malaysia, incl our shirts, but fair enough they are our sponsors. But having 4 Gigantic Malaysian flags in 4 corners of our ground in my opinion is way to much. Nothing Welsh around the ground. Every away fan will think he is visiting Malaysia, not Wales.

Im glad to see you backing the too much Malaysian flags, I mean yes we are all grateful to see the Malaysians is our sponsers, but lets be fair , if we get into the prem they will get all the money back and more. And Im sure 2 Red Dragons and 2 Malaysian flags would be ok, after all we are a Welsh club in Wales in the capital city .
Wed Nov 30, 2011 6:34 pm
Malaysian shareholders bought Malaysian flags, makes sense especially as they are sponsors......Maybe a welsh shareholder should buy some welsh flags?
Wed Nov 30, 2011 8:26 pm
Its a tough one this.
The 'Malaysia' marketing thing sponsors Cardiff City, and as such, the need for
a 'Malay' flag is understandable.
But this is not like Umbro. AEG. Nike.
This is another Country's flag. I have no problem with them at the CCS, its these
people that have got the Club where it stands today.
But WALES is my country
There should be at least as many Wales flags up there
Wed Nov 30, 2011 9:01 pm
I didnt like it myself in fact I was quite irate when I first saw it. Yes their our owners etc, But really in my opinion it felt like the roman empire stamping their authority on the populace. Do we really need 4 big flags in the corners, at least put 2 Welsh there ffs, Mayalsian advertising everywhere It does feel like Im watching a game in their capital not the capital of Wales. We need more identity there like when Sam painted the Welsh flag and St David on the Canton roof , now if you hadnt been there before youd think were in Malaysia. I realise some people dont mind but I didnt like it. rant over

Tan is not the owner, he has paid to have these logos at the stadium because he is proud of his country and I totally respect that. Are most of the shareholders that own the other 51% welsh? Why don't they pay or get the welsh flag added? Maybe us welsh ain't so proud??

Well you speak for your self, Im very very proud of being Welsh and Im sure there is others on here that feel the same.
I know there is a load of plastic welshmen on here, but there is also a load of true Welshmen.

Think you have missed the point completely. Tan owns 49% why can't someone of the other 51% that's is welsh buy and pay for the welsh flag????

i am a very proud welsh man, that is why i brought this topic to the table for debate, and am glad to see that the tide is in fact turning in favor, and i am not now the minority on this subject.

Pay to have 4 flags put up then? I'll contribute.
Wed Nov 30, 2011 11:25 pm
To be fair, it could be the Malaysian National flag and then everyone would be up in arms.....but its not....its just the same as on our shirts.....our sponsor. They've paid to be our sponsor so they can keep paying as much as they want to put their message across, doesnt bother me in the slightest. Cardiff go out with a dragon and daffodil on their crest, there are plenty of visit Wales advertisements up and if anything, theres more puma sponsership in the ground than Malaysia, its just theres now 4 big Malaysia banners in each corner of the ground. It makes our stadium look less empty, dont see why we should put 4 Welsh flags up just because we are a Welsh club, it could be seen as offensive to our players/owners/manager/backroom staff members who arent Welsh. Thats my view on it anyway.

I absolutely don't mind the giant Malaysian flags at all but wouldn't it be nice to see Welsh flags of equal size placed right next to them??

in each corner of OUR ground there now hangs 4 f*cking great big MAYAL flags i mean big same size as the big TV.
ok they are our owners, they are our shirt sponsors, but, are we not
WELSH? We are losing our identity.
or if they insist on sticking their name and flag everywhere
firstly are they paying for the advertisement?
and
secondly if not, why not put two welsh flags in opposite corners and having two of each ?
im starting to get a bit pissed with these guys

those pillars around the ground that hold these Malaysian flags can easily be used to hold flags of Legends and images related to our club
it would give us a lot of colour, and i apologize for my attempt
was hoping to find images of Keenor with a blue shade
would look brilliant around the ground instead of those horrible, ugly pillars!
