What a great nostalgic thread, I can't remember my first single but my first album was Queen, A Night At The Opera, I became massive Queen fan then and still am. ATB. Reeco

EEE we we're poor back in those days, my grandparents would'nt buy me a record player, bought me one of those new fangled cassette recorders for Winterval back in 1970 so I could record the top 20 on sunday night. However, one Winterval we all went up to my uncles who had a "hi-fi" system and being an egger played the latest, come to think of it I think there was only one, Max Boyce album  Oh they tapped their feet in time the sound of that guitar and sang along in hearty voice whilst I laughed and laughed at the amusing anecedotes about the English, pissing in bottles then sharing with an Englishman or was it a Jap, can't remember now. Anyway to cut a long story a bitter shorter than usual, my Gran asked me to go buy the thing on tape but being a cunning young chap I returned with the album stating that it wasn't available on cassette tape as it was too shit. After much arguements, a record player (of sorts) turned up for my birthday, so going by the fact the first single I bought was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen I'd guess at around 1974? The second was Billy don't be Hero by Papaer Lace and I got the piss taking so much I don't think I bought another one for about ten years
