Macca was superb today.

As soon as he went off, we looked a completely different side. We lost our shape and just couldn't keep the ball.

Well done Macca! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Too slow over the hill and a disaster waiting to happen if he stays in the first XI and for the record I have lost a little faith in MM's judgement bringing him back.

Just goes to show the amount of stick he's had to put up with from certain people over the years, The same people who slagged Whitts off over the years.

If you can't see how well Mcphail played yesterday you are deluded, No he didn't score a volley outside the box, Neither did he run around like Don Cowie, But he slowed things down started off every move and Him sitting back allowed Whitts to get forward a bit more.

Al-tho Bradford  were pool, We had our tactics spot on.

Deluded? Just read your reply back mate and you are claiming McPhail was brilliant even though by your own admission no evidence exists that he did anything worthwhile  The definition of deluded is assuming something when no evidence exists to quantify your belief so based on that you are the one who is deluded.

Further I just watched the Football League Show highlights and McPhail was not involved in any of our goals and in fact wasn't mentioned at all. That seems odd for someone who was 'brilliant' and supposedly MOTM??????

The problem with McPhail is that Ridsdale brainwashed everyone for years about how good he supposed to be due to being an ex-Leeds player and people like you are simply too scared to break ranks and say it as it is, which just for the record is McPhail is totally crap.

McPhail isn't the best player in the team, nor the best midfield player. But he has something that at this level is invaluable: Patience and composure. What was different yesterday, and hasn't been something McPhail has never had, is a strong midfield around him to give him protection. He was then allowed to sit almost with the Centre Backs and whenever the back 5 had the ball he was available to relieve pressure or start the move.

It is only one game, but that still doesn't take away that he did have a great game and it told when he went off.

Again we conceeded 2 goals because McPhail went off is another myth. Both goals came from an inability to clear our lines after Barnsley put high crosses into our box from wide areas, which McPhail's supposed 'composure' would have done nothing to prevent.

The 2 late goals were both the fault of the Centre-Backs and Goalkeeper who switched off at 5-1 up.

Like I said, He slowed the game down and gave us our shape. We went to pieces when he want off, Did you not notice that either? Mcphail wasn't mentioned in a 2min Football league show clip, So what? I'm not claiming he's the best player in our team, The formation suited him and he played VERY well, You cannot Deny that!.

I'm against the notion that all goals are the fault of the defence, a team should start attacks from the back and defend from the front. Too much in recent years defenders have taken the brunt of the issues of having a light weight midfield. I think goals or not it's clear the team suited McPhail, Whitts and Gunnarson operating in the middle than it did when there seemed to be some mixture of Kiss as a DM and on the Right and forward, Mason as a CM and a winger, etc.

Also i feel their second goal was a fluke, and maybe a bit more of someone not being on the post.

Fuckin hell, did Macca once piss on your chips or something? Even if he scored a hatrick today I get the feeling you'd have mugged him off :o

He played well and made a differnece, Malky looked delighted with him when he came off....

We looked rubbish when he went off, If we had brought Earnie on at half time, I think we would have lost that match...............
