I certainly do Chief Perhaps its a generational thing, growing up in the 70s, when we still had Grammar Schools, forcing us to play the egg Perhaps I should let it go, but I can't. Have another look at Jonathan Owen's Cup Final film, 'ccfc the movie' on youtube. Explains is better than I can, though he may not go as far as me !

Don't the Yanks call their baseball the world series?! Its really just a posh, middle class 'sport' taken by brits to their colonies. Wales lost to SA and beat two island smaller than Aglesey before today!!!
I've hated it since then really but what really get me going is the media and their obsession with egg-chasing. I want Wales to win simply because I'm Welsh but it just don't interest me.
Two great results this weekend Wales 2-0 Swizerland and Wales u21 1-0 Montenegro tonight

Living in Bristol most of my life, with a very patriotic Welsh family i grew up watching Rugby in the 70s. Yes i enjoyed it, and at School it was mainly Football that we played so happy Days.
My good mate Placid Casual (Julian) always said to me he hated Rugby forced to play it in School ETC so i understood his hatred. Annis saying if you followed the City in the 80s and 90s you would understand as they took the piss out of anything CCFC and i was around in those Days so i know that to be true.
And i always remember a Bristol Rugby Fan in work who told me he watched Cardiff play at the Arms Park and he said some supporter was gobbing off constantly so a Steward threw him shouting "f**k off back to Ninian Park" and my mate was laughiing saying to me he was a Football supporter No i said he was a Rugby supporter as he was at the Rugby and you do not know if he has ever attended a game at the City.
Since i have moved over here when my Boy was at Junior School it was Rugby Rugby Rugby and Football was a once in a while and taken by a Female Teacher But it was St Davids Day what really got my goat when all the Pupils was told to wear Welsh Rugby tops Welsh Football tops were banned as they were considered not Welshness, Now that really Fucked me off.
But the real truth is yes everyone is told they have to love love Rugby in Wales but not many even know the rules, and its just a Day out to them. But as we all know it is Football the Kids want to play and its Football people want to see, Just look at the attendances us and the Jacks get compared to the Blues and Ospreys, its says it all. But its the National team as they are quite successful that gets the support, Make no mistake if Wales football continue to make leaps and bounds we can sell out the Millennium Stadium once again.
But a lot of the Welsh team support Football as well, and even though i do have not a dislike of Rugby i have a dislike of the very People that tell me i should love Rugby and Football is not a Welshness, But they are the idiots and i found myself willing the Welsh team on to victory this Morning despite these Morons.
I really hope Wales can win the World Cup and Wales Football can continue to flourish, Dont get me wrong i have no interest in attending Rugby games as it doesn't bother me really, but we should get behind Wales for the World Cup because we are bigger People than those bigoted twats.

I absolutely love both sports, but I do recognise that there's a lot of tossers in rugby union, it's why I chose to play rugby league instead of union in uni as the rugby union team were a bunch of w@nkers and getting into the team was who you know and not how good you were. But serously, I've got more in common with a Swansea City fan, or an English football fan, and much more respect for their clubs, than with a Welsh egg-chaser.

I will certainly be supporting Wales in the egg chasing but will always remain a City fan first and foremost. Judging by the responses on here I think a lot of people here were looked down upon by sanctimonious PE teachers and the like in our school days just for being City fans. I remember that we were supposed to alternate between playing rugby and football every week in school but our egg obsessed PE teachers conveniently used to forget that we had played rugby the week before.

It also shits me the way that most egg chasing fans seem to think they are a cut above football fans because they regard us as thugs and have to be segregated at games. It is however deemed acceptable for them to engage in 'good natured japes' on international day which seem to involve pissing in friends pints, fighting, spewing, littering and generally making Cardiff a no go area for some. Always gets strangely ignored by the media or probably blamed on Cardiff City fans returning from an away game or something!

I think the reality is that most Rugby fans are probably what now seem to be referred to as 'plastics' and come to think of it I probably fit into the plastic variety when it comes to my support of Welsh Rugby. I certainly don't follow rugby regularly but will be cheering them on next weekend. What they don't have in common with us is our undying passion for one team who we follow week in and week out, they don't understand that following City through the dark days in the lower divisions only strengthened our bond for our team. It is because of that passion and tribalism that that football fans are segregated at games not because we are heathen morons. They enjoy the occasion of an international rugby match and it is of course great to see when any national team is doing well and I'm more than happy to jump on the bandwagon but will those fans feel the same way when Wales get knocked out that we felt after the play off final loss or the FA Cup final loss? I doubt it.

There are certain aspects of rugby that could work well in football. The main one being the discipline where rugby players hardly ever answer the ref back unlike the footballers who to be honest are the biggest cry babies going.

Referring back to the 70s and the P.E teachers I can actually understand their hate for football. A lot of the kids in school took their weekend activities from Ninian Park and carried them on in the playground. It became a serious problem and was perhaps the main reason way football was hardly ever played in the schools. It just amazed me how football was played everywhere like youth clubs, Sunday teams, even in the schoolyard at playtime but the actual schools refused to have a team.
