I'm self employed and have had to keep up with the times.

Everything you own British made or have you enjoyed the benefits of free trade?

It's our fault that there is no manufacturing sector in the UK - We simply didn't buy British.

yep keeping up with times,if i dont put it on the wall,i dont get paid, simple, but i dont agree and its not right that i should half my pay(a third)to keep up with foreign workers, were will the youth find employment if we fill any vaccancies with foreign labour, and we are in a vicious circle, and the only way for the u.k is down, and we will be a third world country, maybe thats the way forward in your opinion?

Yea it is a free trade and people have the right to charge or price up what ever they want fact.

The reality is though that wages as a result have dropped over 50 % thats the true fact and it is a real big problem.

The job is a hard one physically so you have to work your body hard to earn money fact.

If you work hard and you are used to an average wage for your hard work and then bang it goes down by 50 % then anybody in any line of work would be gutted fact.BY the way on the higher wage of around £120 to £150 a day you could cope with day to day living but tools and travel come off that figure so we were never rich to start fact.

Then you get an idiot like you who thinks he knows it all with a stinking attitude well mate thanks for your understanding on this.Oh buy the way if you ever loose 50% of your wages for what ever reason how would you feel if someone took the same stance as you about your money and lifestyle.Put it this way I wouldn't care for you either fact. People like you make my blood boil.

c**t, I still employ Brits.

I've just had a new boiler and central heating system put in and paid top dollar because I wanted the best and not cheapest option.

It's not the Blair's fault.

It's your fellow Brit's fault who have chosen to go the cheapest route rather than help out their fellow Brit.

How are construction workers overpaid compared to other industries, in most cases no holiday pay, no sick pay, no overtime pay ( which means working during weekends i.e quality family time and 40% of that pay going straight in tax), told on a friday no more work Monday, no bank holiday pay, no pay for 2 weeks over Christmas.

The construction industry is completely fucked.
