How come the results do not reflect this?
Results reflect the effectiveness of the team as a whole but if you look at Jays goalscoring record last season he scored 15 goals in 17 appearances prior to his England cap and 5 goals in 22 appearances after.
Like I said we never saw the same player after his England cap.

One of those goals was a penalty against Derby. The expression on his face said it all as he ran over to the Canton stand. It was an expression of "f**k you lot". Dave Jones added to that when he said in the after match report he was surprised that Jay took the penalty. Jones knew what Jay was doing and most likely encouraged it.
His 5 goals in 22 appearances for the second half of the season is perhaps the main reason we did not go up. Jay was a weak link but Jones knew no other way to change this, plan B thinking again or lack of it.

Debunked claim, lack of a cover for jay and a defence that needed reinforcing correctly is why we didnt go up.
With Jay, Cardiff lost 7 games (he played 37 games)
Without Jay, they lost 5 games (he missed 9 games)
Cardiff outscored QPR
Cardiff scored in more games than QPR

You also forgot to mention we had the most away wins in the league last season with 11 in total.

How many goals did he score for us that season before the England call up ? And how many did he score after it ?
That says it all about the man. He needs to think about that before he keeps slagging us Cardiff fans off.

He said nothing we didn't know already.
But it has been documented on here that training under Dave Jones was utter Crap and players took the piss and one of the main ones was JAY BOTHROYD. It was reported Jones never over saw training or got involved and some respects Jay was correct in what he said, but he also let himself down with his own dedication to training.
Jay Bothroyd is one reason we didnt go up last season IMO so he can do one

The only player who left and was a great player and thanked the fans after his move was Chris Burke even gave an interview before he left saying it!

Isn't this the prat whose agent tried to get him another contract with the City?
and Isn't this the prat who the whole dressing voted against having back. They must have forgot he was an "England International"

Good thread Gary

- Interesting views from Jay,about being "No One Cap Wonder"
Let's see if Jay can prove us bookies Wrong - That he will Not score more than 13 Premier League goals

may i suggest that if jay had kept up the level of football that he was capable of before he went to play with 'rooney and co' (although i would like to see the players england chose for the 'FRIENDLY'), then maybe he wouldnt be playing for a team that had just been promoted and be playing for a better calibre of team.
The team who did ship him out originally lost 8-2 to man utd
So i hardly would suggest he is at where HE thinks he should be

And how many England internationals is he playing with at Q.P.R?

Well Joey Barton has one England cap but he was on the pitch for longer than Jay so he must be a better player.

Another 'one cap wonder' then.

Absolute legend, great centre forward, best of luck Jay!

[quote="RFMH"]So you go from "Wins happen as a team" to "Jay didn't score enough goals" Interesting way to contradict yourself. There was far more to Jay's game than that
Couldn't agree more...!! he was awesome in falling on his arse, not putting enough effort in and continually moaning at everyone else on the pitch !! Well done Jay...!! lol

Bookies aren't daft are they? He'd have to play for 13 seasons in the prem to score 13 goals!

If that was the case how come we won in a massive amount of the games we played yet fell to pieces the moment we lost him? Moaning about Jay just became habitual rather than evidence based when quite clearly he's been the most effective person at the club for the past few years. Not his fault the manager didnt form a good defence or get cover for Jay.
