No - i agree . Its a token signing to appease the masses in the transfer window.
Sometime there's 2 then!

while i love the guy and am chuffed to bits hes back, and he is a city legend but...... he does possess probably the worst first touch in british football, his 2nd touch is usually a tackle
but stick him around the 6 yard box and bang.
i still think we need 2 more strikers.

All about opinions Steve. Hope he gets a brace at the hammers though. (That's two goals and not his teeth wired up by the way)

Seriously though, I reckon he'll get 20 goals this season with us.

i gotta say, i agree with ninian blue, i'm also a bit underwhelmed. if earnie is used as back up i'll be very very happy but if he's gonna be the focal point of our attack i think we're in for a long season!

step backwards???
earnie is a proven goalscorer at this level. its not like he's over the hill, he's still fit and hungry.
a direct replacement for chopra and one id take any day of the week. chopra was amazing when we first signed him then the 2nd time we signed him were you saying the same thing then?
earnie looks after himself and he aint got any demons hanging over his head, step backwards....no, id say a step forward.

after what dave jones did to us last season , we should of gone up, i didnt think wed be splashing the cash to be honest, so this is a great signing considering.

IF Earnie has been brought in to lead the line, then I agree with the fact that he isn't my first choice and that better options are available.
However, I don't see that he was brought in for this reason and I highly doubt Earnie expects to be thought of in the same way he was as a 19 yr old lower league superstar.
As part of a strike force of say, 4, Parkin, Earnshaw ...admittedly two are still missing at present, he can be a great compliment and play a big part as an impact player or part of squad rotation.
He'll be used as a pace threat (he still has the legs) during the last 20 mins of games, as the poacher we know he is when were looking for a goal and as something a bit different.
Players like Earnshaw are a must have in any team, he may not contribute as much as others but you cannot let the guy free for a minute, he needs to be watched for the length of time he is on the pitch.
I'm positive he'll score some point saving / earning goals this season.

He is a good player in the championship but i do agree he is more of a bench warmer now.
just hope we dont let our expectations get the better of us like it did last season with koumas coming back.
But overall a good signing on a free by MM
