Publicity stunt for TV for yet again another Geordie wannabe wanting ALL the limelight and publicity to hopefully get an improved offer from another job ???

He could just be that he is being polite.
'No squad and no transfer budget. No thanks.'
We get it, you're a Newcastle fan and love Shearer.
It could just be he's using PR spin.
'I wanted a massive salary because I'm Alan freaking Shearer. They refused. No thanks.;
Equally as plausible.
And if your scenario is correct, just shows Shearer wants an "easy" management job rather than one where you have to wheel and deal, use management skills.

I'm glad it's not Shearer, he would have wanted a big wage and big backing for a job he has minimum experience in. That would have been a massive gamble for our football club. Hopefully it was just all a PR stunt to get people talking about Cardiff in other parts of the world.

Maybe shearer was told Bellamy is coming back and it's not up for discussion

Well Cheryl Cole is at a loose end might be worth a punt

My guess is that Craig is almost certain to return & Shearer does not want that, Im purely speculating of course. I know one thing for sure though, Ive said it many a times. Our club is a shambles, its amateurish & shoddy in the way its run and maybe Shearer could see through that. Ok his managerial qualification are minimal but all the candidates have NOTHING you can call outstanding and that concerns me when we cant attract a top class manager and before anyone mentions MON & Hughes, I dont believe for one minute that the club have the balls or the experience to deal with the likes of these. We have become the laughing stock of football in Wales, what do the Malaysians know about the football world, as like Gethin Jenkins & a crooked solicitor ffs its a complete & utter joke.
Id say this to the board, shape up of sell up

Back to making up shite again?
He turned the job done. He did the same to Newcastle.
If I was a betting man he doesn't want to move to South Wales.

What has any of the candidates done in management, CH took up a club full of premiership players(me & you could have done that). I find it concerning that we cant attract a top class manager.

Almost kept Newcastle Utd - It was an OG that sent them down.
In those eight games they played Chelsea, Villa, Spurs and Liverpool. All four of those teams were fighting to finish in the top 4 at the time.
Newcastle also had stoke away.
Shearer also had two spells as AM, once working with Bobby Robson.

Rich, I think Shearer simply didn't want to move his family down all the way from Newcastle.

its interesting carl that dato did all the negotiating which proves that the two amigo's gethin and alan have totally failed in their efforts to secure a manager.
Not bad news in my opinion as we needed a manager here for the long run who needs to rebuild the club and squad from the bottom up and shearer with even a small amount of success would have been instanly linked with the newcastle job and promotion would have had the english press baying for him to be appointed england manager.
For me its back to Hughton or de matteo now as you and i know all sorts of rules have been broken in pursuit of other managers.
Frankly this leaves the club in a mess at the moment and hopefully a lesson should be learnt here and there should be a director of football appointed to oversee all football matters because to be brutally honest this has exposed gethins lack of experience or knowledge of all things football and he should be just allowed to run the clubs business side of players contracts and the commercial side .
How the hell do you know that TG did all of the negotiating? He mentions the owner (which is actually wrong) and the board.
I wish people will stop reading what they want to see in things to create a way of having a go at Jenkins!
It's pointless and stupid.

Your probably right along with the working with Craig factor, possibly. I did find it annoying last night that our fans were so naive to slate him even before it was agreed to join. None of the said candidates jump out as successful.

I don't think Bellers was a factor.
He was a little c**t when they fell out.
He is a different person now.
Bellers might of even been a plus point.
Shearer is a winner and he stands a much better chance of winning with Bellers in his team.
Out of everyone working with Cardiff, who is the only person to have a link to Shearer?
Bellers! Maybe Bellers put his name forward?

Shearer apparently have close links to Malaysia from where he got a consortium together to buy out Newcastle but who knows eh. I think Shearer could have been good for City both on & off the pitch, I really dont think GJ or Whitely have the experience to interview or judge in football but what can you do but hope they do the right thing. Just get on with it as its showing to be very amateurish

Shearer worded his statement in such a way that it LOOKS like he
walked away from us!
I doubt he was offered the job
Wed Jun 15, 2011 10:12 am
Then why release a statement in the first place?

Who? Shearer? Publicity.
He's a BBC man, he's not going to say nothing. Notice he doesnt say he
turned us down, just that talks were unsuccessful, for all we know TG
told him he didnt like his ideas.
But TG had been dignified and professional about it and said nowt

Shearer doesn't need publicity.
The guy is a legend.

What a ridiculous statement.
Then explain why he didnt just get in his car and go home quietly

This from saying that Shearer needs publicity?
Maybe he felt that he wasted the clubs time at he wanted to be respectful to the club?

The respectful thing to do would have been to keep the meeting private
as did his interviewer.. As I said, Shearer said a lot, but actually never
said he'd been offered the job. More likely scenario is that he knew he
didnt have the experience and knew he wasnt getting offered the job
so decided on a clever little press release.

It's just all guess work.
But as someone who has followed the career of best English player since Gazza the guy doesn't need publicity.
Like you, if I was going to guess, I would say he said yes or gave a strong hint that he would take the job and then backed out.
Lack of experience?
Played under legends like Keegan, Robson and Kenny.
Two spells as AM. Once with Bobby Robson.
How much experience does the new fav hav? One season with Watford?

Assistant managers do not necessarily make good managers. Look at Brian Kidd..
he was number two to Ferguson for years.
Shearer 'the legend' footballer does not mean he will ever become Shearer the legend
manager
Malky Mackay has managed Watford for nearly three seasons, he's PROVEN.
ON a football pitch he might not have been fit to lace Shearers boots.. off it...
hes a far better prospect for this club.
Your hero has acted shoddily here, he should have kept his mouth shut
Wed Jun 15, 2011 11:38 am
Two seasons and proven in what sense? Keeping a team in the league?
Do you know who was Bobby's AM before he joined Newcastle?
A certain fella by the name of Jose. Went on to do pretty well at Porto and Chealsea........

Mackay took over a skint club in turmoil, kept them up for two seasons
and actually had them chasing the play-offs last season, again with no
money!!.. They play an exciting attacking brand of football and actually
thrashed both us and QPR.
YES... Shearer could go on to become a great manager like Mourinho but
he could also fall flat on his arse like Brian Kidd.
Even if Shearer was MY hero i wouldnt risk this Clubs future on him
Wed Jun 15, 2011 11:45 am
But I would take Malky after Shearer.
Malky is much better than Hughton.
Hughton would have been lost at Newcastle if he the squad that Malky had at Watford.
