Re: " SINCE THE 3 NIL HAMMERING AT HOME TO READING "

I think sacking dave Jones immediately after the Reading game could have been potentially imprudent and rash.

The Malaysians may have sensibly assumed that DJ himself, may have viewed his position as no longer tenable and that he could have walked (perhaps wishful thinking, but as an example Strachan did the honourable thing and tore up his contract), or, as I'm sure the board hoped, he could have been sounded out by another club and left without requiring a payoff.

There appears to be some general panic in some quarters on this board that we have not yet got someone in place and are not yet active in the transfer market. However, the fact that there are so many candidates of reasonable standing in the game, it would be impossible to interview everyone with decent credentials in 2-3 days and make a decision. Interviews have to be arranged around everyones availablility and this takes time.

I'm comforted that our board are not rushing into decisioons every time pressure builds up from fans to act. Only the board have the full inside picture, so they are surely better placed than fans with only piecemeal info available, to weigh up the clubs requirements and act accordingly.

What is more important, is that if the board back their decison making process and pick who they think is the right guy, then they trust him with the required funds to get promoted.

I also think that fans need to be patient when the new manager comes in. The squad clearly needs a lot of new faces and it will take time for players to gel and adjust. There is every chance we could start the season badly and lose a few games before the team starts to perform. In the old days this would not be such an issue, as the core of fans used to be more loyal than many fairweather supporters are now. But if the team gets booed after 5-10 games, this really would highlight a lack of general appreciation from the stands of the challenge ahead.

If we are in the bottom half after 5-10 games, we still need to stay patient and support the team. If we are struggling after 20 games, perhaps questions should be asked, but not before.

I for one, have shed my play off blues and are massively optimistic once again for another exciting campaign, with inevitable highs and lows, but we surely expect nothing else these days. :

Dave Jones was gone long right after the final whistle against Reading. They just
never told anyone. There was no rush, PMG and Langstone were the priorities, and
they now appear to be 'dealt with'.... So the Club could then sit down and work out a
strategy for the coming season, work out the various budgets, THEN appoint a manager.

Its common sense.

Its a fair enough question for an applicant to ask how much money he'd have to play
with. Pointless interviewing anyone if you dont have the answer innit??

We will have a new manager in place by next week. He will have TWO MONTHS to sort
out a squad. As someone has posted, ALL the 'possibles' will have contacts, will have
players they know would come here, they will all have plans, or they wont be getting the
job will they!!! Tyson from Forest has gone has he?? well whoopy f*cking doo... so what?
Is this the basis for everyone YET AGAIN pissing their pants and throwing the toys out
the pram cos the Club arent going as fast as they'd like?

I can understand, and accept, that some of the posters on here may be teenagers etc and
a bit more exciteable. Its understandable. But Gents, please...

chill the f**k out :ayatollah:

We should have appointed a new manager by now too, to get used to the place, players and fans.
We berly have a Squad we need a manager now, to get new players in.

The less time the manager has before the season the more pressure is on him to get the players in.

Why next week?
Saying that they have been saying next week for the last 3 weeks.

:ayatollah:

Big difference, Grant got the team relegated, DJ failed to gain promotion, there's a world of difference. The club gained nothing by sacking hin immediately, we don't know the details of his termination, so maybe that time was used wisely, to negotiate a better deal for the club.
On the transfer activity, it works both ways, players who are looking for a move, are also not going to jump clubs immediately or take the first club that comes knocking on their door. They will keep options open until the last moment. Unless of course, the big 4 come calling!

Should we have Sacked Dave Jones within 24hrs ?

Should we have by now appointed a New manager ?

It is Now June 9th and The Club are now saying it will be Next week the appointment.

Is it better to wait longer ?

Does this show the Club are now more Professional ?

My Opinion Jones should of been Sacked within 24 hrs.

Yes We should by now have appointed a New manager. Chris Hughton or Di Matteo for me :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

No its not better to wait longer, the quicker the manager is in the better for him,our current players and getting other players in quicker :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Personally no it does not, as to me they should know by now instead of dithering.

All main Contenders have been interviewed at least once.

But they are just my opinions as a Fan :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

No I don't think they should have sacked DJ within 24 hours. But I think he should have gone within a week if they had decided he needed to go.

I also thin they are being a bit tardy about appointing the new manager, I'd have preferred it if they had done it this week.

Still I suppose it is better to be sure rather than appoint the wrong one

The reason he was not sacked earlier was down to some people at the club thinking he would do the honorable thing. As we know in football today....apart from gordon strachen nobody does resign.
as far as appointing a new manager is concerned, many players dont become available to buy until july, but players released by their clubs are available and considering we will be looking to pick up some free transfers i would rather see the manager appointed now.He also needs to move down, get his backroom staff in place etc etc as well as the difficulty he has in that thers very little of a sqaud left for him thanks to our loan players last year.
the club has been proffessional.........dont milk it .....make your mind up we will back any of the three being tipped. we just need some action and a fresh start.
