Renault 5. Thought I looked dead cool driving down Collingdon Road to work every morning :D Late 70s early 80s. Especially on a Thursday (pay day), picking up my copies of Shoot, Goal, the NME, and Melody Maker on the way. Happy days :old: Still drive a nine year old Megane (02 reg). Safe as houses :!:

I had a Cortina Mark 2, which i used on the estate til my mam made me do the test. crashed in Cathays the week after i passed into a big VW and the whole front end disentegrated. It was just held together with polyfiller, there was white powder all over the road and not a scratch on the VW. Happy Days :D :D :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Rover Metro 1.1 insurance was £700 a year if I remember correctly. Arguably one of the more reliable cars i've owned, in that it didnt attempt to kill me.

*not my car in photo.

C655 DPP
Ford Fiesta Mk2 Popular Plus
1 litre engine.

Passed my test in 1999 and went straight into this. We did a straight swap, my mothers old C reg Sierra (1.6) with a fucked engine and rusty bodywork for this baby with a brand new MOT.

I put about 40,000 miles on it in a year and it still run like a dream. I upgraded about 18 months later to the newer Fiesta Mk3 - which ironically died within 15 months. The guy I sold the Mk2 to, kept it running until about 2006 when the body just started collapsing around the engine.

1966 C reg Mini 1100. Paid £50 in 1980. Max speed of 90 mph on clock but my mate told me it would go much faster!!!! Brilliant car went through driveshafts (cv joints?) on a regular basis. Until I wrote it off of course.

I totally rote my MK3 off. Was pissed right up (i know not big not clever) and driving along a windey road and my mate said i will show you sometime how to drive along here at 70 MPH. Well that was a red rag to a Bull for me so i put my toe right down. Got to a bend with a real dip in it and i literally took off i turned the steering wheel but it was useless with the tyres off the ground   As i landed just starting to turn but hit the kerb which pushed my steering rack back by about half a foot then hit a Farmers wall. I had goodmans speakers on the back shelf and one of them flew into the front seat , but it was still playing on one speaker and the song was you spin me round by dead or alive. And the lyrics as we came to a halt was "Open up your eyes and watch out here we come" My mate and myself just looked at each other and pissed ourselves laughing at those lyrics and the fact we was still alive   . I told my old Man a car came at us on the wrong side of the road and forced us off and i was only going around 30. He had his Mechanic mate check the car out and he estimated about 75 MPH on impact. My old Man glared at me and i said it could of been 40

Mine was a Morris Minor 850cc With a split wind screen (it came in two parts) the indicaters were little yellow arms that popped out either side of the doors neer the roof. In the back of my memory box I can still smell the leather seats. Although you had to hold it in second gear some times it was still my Bently. It was a two door with the seats folding right up to the wind srceen. SO there was plenty of room in the back for an all out in any position shag on a lifetime parked on Cowbridge common, Hence along came a son 9 mounths after buying it.
