What I was told was that Sky Andrew asked for a wage of £14k per week for Jay.
Remember that Jay was offered £9k per week at the beginning of the season, which was an extra £1k per week than the contract he was on.
I am told that the club have turned the 'offer' down. Whether or not that depends on the new manager would suggest the strongest reason for City turning it down, even though this was not the reason given to me but there again no reason was given.
Sorry carl, just my opinion but i dont want the waster back at cardiff, he has done piss all since he was capped, he was one of those who was out on the piss before a vital game and now after trying to sell his body to the highest bidder (which seems there are not many) he is thinking of coming back, jay go and do one!!!!
i am right in thinking jay was out but didnt drink when the others got pissed!
Well thats what he said but do you realy believe he was out until four in the morning without touching a drop?????

i dont want the grass warmer back even if he offered his services for free

Some people don't drink.
Irresponsible to have been out that late even if staying sober.

Such an immense talent but wastes that talent. Often flatters to deceive. If he could stay off his arse and put in 100% every game he would be a shoe in for England every game. Shame really - you could have took us to the promised land Jay but you went missing during games and you went missing in the early hours of the morning in some obscure bar when you should have been tucked up in bed - totally unprofessional and you now have the cheek to ask for £14K per week, your having a laugh

. In summary no thank you Jay - once bitten twice shy.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:10 pm
Hmmm 14k... not a bad wage for him considering he spends half the time sitting on his arse.
No thanks Jay.

His ability is unquestionable and can create goals from nothing.
I understand some people aren't happy with the way Jay has behaved, but he will be very hard to replace and is a class player at this level.
I personally like Jay and was sad to see him leave the club...
totally agree!! hopefully we will get him back!! he is worth way more than 9k!!
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:12 pm
Throw Chops to Ipswich (and yes that would take one hell of a catapult) and use the covering wages to sign him up, Jay at this level is better than most.

Or that he's going to say to Swansea they have to break their wage policy to sign him as Cardiff have offered him 14k.
As we know he can play,
he was outstanding against QPR, will another manager be able to get that out of him though (and will they want the hastle?).
Can,t agree with you mate, (yes it,s all opinions) yes he scored a fantastic goal against qpr but after that he done piss all and i,ll never forget or fogive him in our next home game against boro when a 50/50 against the keeper he turned his back and bottled it!!!!!
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:13 pm
We should sign him back! Ok, he lost form, but if bellamy was out of form and then offered to come back to us next season im sure everybody would want him back.
We all know he is a good player! And could make the difference for like he did earlier on in the season!
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:17 pm
I'd love him back. If we don't get him back we have to fork out at least £2-3m plus wages to get somebody as good so the additional wages would actually be cheaper
If DJ was still here I'd say no because I think he had lost the art of getting through to Jay but with a new manager I would hope the new approach would be more effective
Can you really believe that Martin O'Neill wouldn't get the best out of Jay
I actually think this does demonstrate a degree of loyalty for the club. He ain't gonna take just the first offer to get away. I may be naive but I think Jay would stay as he does have a degree of affinity for us (just hope he doesn't read this message board too often

)

Jay had 2 sizeable stints out injured this season and at the time he picked up the first of his injuries, he was by far the best centre forward in the division!
He struggled to regain his form when he came back, but he still ended up with 20 goals and the one he scored against QPR, was absolute class!
Yes, he can be frustrating, especially when he goes down too easily and when he gets booked for petulance (like he did before the Swansea home match, getting himself suspended), but he'd be a free transfer effectively, so £14,000 per week for a player I'd class as being in the £3-4 million bracket when he's fit and on form, would be great business as far as I'm concerned!

He's a quality player - when motivated.
When not motivated, we're playing with ten men.
Thanks for the efforts, bye Jay, the last six months of effort from you doesn't deserve a 5k pay rise, especially given the seeming lack of interest from the Prem.

sorry tom no comparison
bellamy whenever he played even after lost causes, gave 100% every time,
if the same could be said about
gravity arse, there wouldnt be any arguments.

Sign him then sell him!

Thanks for the memories Jay, Great Talent but like our last manager a bottler and a choker. You have not got the desire in every game. You cant pick and choose the games you turn up.
Cheerio

We don't know that there's a lack of interest from the Prem and it may just be, that Jay would prefer to locate himself in Cardiff, as opposed to Sunderland, Liverpool (Everton) or any of the Midland's sides he's been linked with!
He may also have inside information, that the club are going to recruit big and wants to be a part of our future!

In addition. We know what we're getting with Jay. He has a great first touch, unrivalled skill at championship level, good ball control, quick, strong and one hell of a finisher.
1. How are we going to replace that?
2. How are we going to replace that with a free transfer on 14k a week?
3. Whats to say whoever replaces him is going to settle in?
Can't believe some people don't want to see Jay come back. Its win win for everyone!
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:26 pm
Offering Bothroyd 9K a week is an insult when u think that chopra is on 20k bothroyd deserves the 14k contract IMO but until we have a manager i guess we cant make such decisions.

Yes Annis looking for one last pay day.

You'll all eat your words .
I reckon with Sinclair on one flank and Dyer on the other he'll be a hit.
With the attitude of some of our fans I'd say Jay if you cant get a club
sign for the Jacks.
Brendon Rogers is right
some of our fans boo our own players and talk out of there ass.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:31 pm
Dont want him back...............sorry if that offends some........move on Jay
scored some gr8 goals (qpr h) but shocking end of season when we needed u the most......and where were you?
On the lash
Get your agent to ring a taxi for you...Fulham calling
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:32 pm
He's never said he wanted to leave Cardiff and I've heard him and "jones the pocket" were not actually that close. But.. It should be down to the new manager, if he wants to sign him up then yes we should welcome him back ( with a get out clause in his contract for say 5 million) so at least we could make some money if it all goes wrong

I respect what your saying mate. Because there is alot of truth in what your saying but I think my opinion is the complete opposite of me having a short memory.
I am reflecting on Jay's contribution during the time he's been here and he is a class player. Don't want to judge him on a poor run in to the season - when he still looked better than most other players at this level...
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:38 pm
When our new manager is in place and Jay's agent is still offering him to us, then take him (but as others have said, we need to sell Chopra to free up a bit of the wage bill), as he's still a superb player when his head is right (e.g start of the season), and one we could do with considering the fact our squad isn't the biggest.
Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:38 pm
He's a good player Jay, he's been good for the City, but the City have been even better for him. Drifted around from club to club for years. Only here has he ever achievied anything, not least his Ingerland cap. Personally, if he gets his arse in gear, I would like to see him back. He's class, but needs to sort himself out. Bit like Chops really.

i would DEFINITELY want him back!! No avoiding the fact that he's a higher quality striker than anybody else were going to realistically get in, in my opinion
if he could maintain his early season form, for a whole season, we definitely couldnt get better
