Please correct me if I am wrong, I think it was the season we signed him, we played Reading in a friendly at Elm Park . I am sure that Robin Friday played against us and I am sure he scored both the goals, as they beat us 2-0 Reading were in the 3rd division at the time, am I wrong or was I dreaming. I seen get sent off at Brighton.

Hi guys, Luton fan here in peace.

I'm actually just doing some research on Robin -- but no matter where I look on the web or in the "Greatest Footballer You Never Saw" book I can't find his Cardiff City statistics split between the 1976-77 and 1977-78 seasons. Do any of you have any idea on this?

Thanks.

No problem, just to summarize, Robin Friday played 21 league games for Cardiff City, scoring six goals, his last two were against Luton Town on 16/04/77. He fell out of favour with our then manager Jimmy Andrews, Jimmy brought Robin to Cardiff City but was soon not impressed with Robin's off the field activities. Interesting that his last two games the following season were both away & both heavy defeats, BHA on the 29 Oct, 77 [sorry, got the orig date wrong] 0-4, & Bolton W on 10 Dec 77, 3-6.

Overall, i think that Robin Friday had the potential, but not the commitment to professional football. He was a "free spirit", & did thing the way he wanted, but he has earned a "cult" status at Cardiff City, for more than one reason, i'm sure!

Talent was way too good for us but unffortunately footballers didn't receive the additional care then that they do now  An absolute privelege to say I saw him play. Even Clive Thomas says (in the book about Friday's life) that he scored the greatest goal he'd ever seen shame there is not much footage about ........ or is there :?: :ayatollah:

Was that when we had to run wolves off the grange end and wanky wanky wanky wanky wanderers was being sang at em

Imagine how good he would have been if he didn't inject heroin into his ball bag (testicles) on a daily basis.

My mate lived next door to him in East Acton and knew him and his family very well.
