By that I mean is it the end of the 'league season' i.e. 46 games or the play off final?
If it is the 46 game season then Gerrard might be able to play for us in any potential play off games as his long term loan to Hull would have ended.
However, my gut feeling is the playing season ends after the play-off final, probably the 30 June.
The rule states that at the END of each season a playoff will take place, so therefore the season has ended before the play offs take place, just my interpretation of the rules.
Here is the rule do not know if you agree with me or not.
10.1.1.2
At the end of each Season, The League shall accept into membership the three clubs finishing in the lowest three places in The Premier League, in accordance with the Articles of Association, rules and regulations of The Premier League.
At the end of each Season, the two Clubs finishing in the highest positions in the First Division of The League shall be promoted to The Premier League in accordance with the Articles of Association, rules and regulations of The Premier League. The four next highest Clubs in the First Division shall take part in a Play-Off Competition. The winner of the Play-Off Competition shall also be promoted to The Premier League upon the
same terms.

God it would help if the bloody rules just said whether you could or could-not play returning loan players in the play-offs![]()
To be honest I'm still not sure either way as the rules seem to be saying the play-offs are a separate competition to the league season and therefore you would assume for example Gerrard could play in that 3 game competition.
The doubt I have though is the reference to 'End of Season' above where as in the rules on loan players they make reference to 'End of PLAYING season' which again muddies the waters as the play-offs could be construed as being part of 'the playing season' even if they are classed as a different competition to the regular league season.
