Jim Gallacher signed for Clydebank in 1972 and went onto make 731 appearances. Was widely recognised as the best goalkeeper in Scottish football but failed to win a full cap as the SFA would not pick someone playing part time football. I think he left in 1997 after finally retiring the season before, having been goalkeeping coach since the early 90's. A legend and a gentleman. Bumped into him the night before our Scottish Cup Final 2 years ago in Glasgow when some of our Valleys friends were up. He was on his son's stag do and promptly made(and I mean made!) us go round to join them.
There he was with Jim Fallon.....who played 769 times(33 goals) for The Bankies. Fallon played at sweeper and signed in the late 60's(will confirm) and went onto be first team coach when he retired in the mid 80's a posiition he retained until 1993 when the club took the gamble of going full time.....a gamble that never paid off. Fallon, like Gallacher had a good job away from football and left the club. Another one who can be held in the legendary and gentleman stakes. His testimonial game against Celtic was played with no offside rule!
The next mention on our all time appearance list is on 373....a fairly big gap.
We currently have a boy who signed in 2003 where his first wage was £9 a week which could be boosted with a £3 win bonus(£6 if we played midweek) he's knocked back several approaches from bigger clubs because he likes it where he is. I think he's now on £40 with a £5 win bonus.

The boy is called Mark Hailstones. He's played 220 games for us scoring 58 goals. He was signed as a right midfielder but has now played in every position including goalkeeper on more than one occasion.

A few people on this thread named steve "should be in prison" gerrard as a loyal player.
In 2 consecutive summers he threatened to join Chelsea until his wages were doubled! Hardly loyal!
Having a single club doesn't make you loyal necessarily. Giggs and Scholes have been named also and whilst they've never threatened United with wage demands I've never heard of a concerted effort by anyone to sign them so they are loyal by default.
Matt LeTissier is the most loyal player ever in my view. Southampton accepted an offer from Chelsea and he turned down a fortune to stay a Saint. Which I think makes him one!

How? How can you beat a man who played for one club and turned down far bigger offers to do so?
I'm not saying the players you list are not loyal (although Lampard surprises me) but how do they beat him. I'm willing to be convinced mind you!

Ian Ashbee for Hull City maybe. Played in the 4th tier right up to Premiership. Obviously now in Championship.
Once again, don't know if anyone else ever wanted him

Without a doubt, Steve Harper at Newcastle. Lived in shadow of Shay Given for the majority of his career, still there now and stuck with them for ages, even when they were relagated.
