Maybe he meant message board nerds instead of fans when talking bout obrien, CCMB nerd reported he saw obrien down the ground, alerted Leeds and bates reacted quickly.

To be honest Steve, all I know about him is what I have read in the press and on here and the odd interview with him.

Seems to handle himself reasonably well when being interviewed and obviously a teensy bit of a lower profilel than our previous Chief Exec.

His lack of football knowledge was a worry to me at the start but of course the longer he is in the job the less this should be a worry, particularly as DJ seems to have taken a bigger role in this area and they seem to have a good relationship so Mr Jenkins can obviously learn from him.

It does look to me as though he is quietly going about the business of improving things, for example as mentioned in Carl's update on Thursday gettong Mike Young involved on the marketing side.

However as I say this is all a bit from afar really as I have no link or involvement directly with the club.

To digress a bit, back in the 50's and 60's ny dad was the insurance agent for the club and knew some of the players and staff well, many continuing to use my dad after they had retired or left the club I remember as a 10 year old how impressed I was at the warm greeting Trevor Ford gave my dad when he went to do some insurance business with him at the garagae he was runnningin Llandaff North. He also knew Graham Keenor, the club secretary ( which I guess approximates to Chief Exec these days) well enough to be able to wangle a couple of cup final tickets in 1969!!

Be great to have that sort of access to the club in these exciting times

Dave Jones, said 'probably it was the famous message boards that alerted Leeds, that O'Brien, was in Cardiff and that we could have signed him on the day. I read into that, that someone from the Leeds club was on our message board, someone from Leeds , (it could have been O Brien himself ) phoned O Brien up, and offered him the same deal as Cardiff, being a Leeds fan their was only one winner.

Did not DJ say or imply that we lost Bent due to the fact that the media were printing stories that he had signed for Cardiff and we have not then Birmingham jumped in and signed him ? so I for one can understand DJ frustration. He has always been consistent that he does not talk about signings for the reasons above, until they signed! therefore he can blame others when news leaks out from whatever source for losing players, that other clubs want, in Dave Jones words" we are all fishing from the pool" .

An old war time saying "loose talk sinks ships", and as much as we all want to know what is going on at our club, just be aware of the consequences.

Every Football Club in Britain has a messageboard for fans. There is not one scenario
I can think of where a supporter of anyone else would not have posted "just saw O'Brian
down the <pick one from 91> ground"... I'm almost embarassed for the fat scouse prat.

Andy O'Brian was already at Leeds, they get crowds of over 30,000, they are a bigger
club than us, he is FROM Yorkshire, was an ex Leeds Academy player... He was using
Cardiff City to get a better deal. The ONLY way he was coming here was if Leeds didnt
want him. The SECOND he left Cardiff his agent will have been on the blower to Larry
Grayson. Dave Jones has been used, happens all the time. Does Dave hint that?? Of
course not... why not alienate the fans a little bit further. Could a manager have less
respect for the people who ultimately pay his wages? I think not! wanker!

today would have been the perfect chance to say how great the fans were. at times the fans sang DJs name (not all of us)
he responded positivly, and it happened a few times, even when stoke fans were calling him a paedo, cardiff fans got behind him.

so for me it would be the perfect chance to say something positive, cos the players and fans were superb today.

(i havn't seen the interview, he may have sucked us off and told her we are the best fans in the world. but i doubt it )

Yer to be 100% honest I did also Annis, but I did think I may have been wrong when we had that very bad run we had.
But in saying that we havent really proved we are fully out of that bad run yet. ok yes we beat Leeds, but I will feel a hell of a lot more confident were back on track ,if we beat Nowrich and keeps a clean sheet in doing so.

Not sure if he was serious or not as I have not seen the interview, however his accusation if he meant it about the message board is hilarious.

Dave Jones sounds so pathettic sometimes that is why I do not like him... No message board is to blame plus if it is great as we didnt want Obrian he is just as bad as the defence we got as Leeds are shocking at the back.

If you're going to do that, you have to put these things in context or you will have people thinking there's an anti-Jones bias about your comments.

If you'd put it in context and it was clear to see Jones ACTUALLY though the messageboards were to blame then you'd be right to post it like you were having a go!!
