Bluebina - yes Jay was out but how often have we been saying we need a replacement for Jay or a Plan B!!! He has neither! Even though Jay was out why did he start Drinkwater when the poor bloke hasn't played a game at any level for 10 weeks and why did he drop Burke and play Chopra on the wing instead??? Complete and utter madness from a man who has lost the plot! DJ will always be a legend at this club but we are currently third in the league in spite of him not because of him! His lack of plan b and being unable to play without Jay cost us in the play off final and still he hasn't addressed that problem or our crap defense!!!

Excellent post. We were already handicapped from not having Bothroyd, no need to add to it by playing others out of position too.

Thank you Carl for another clear and concise update.
It is troubling that VT does not yet want to do a deal with SH. The only conclusion I can think of is that they will contest the validity of the debt. SH is, after all, a rather questionable figure and maybe there are loopholes in the manner of the debt that is owed. Who knows? All I know is that the lawyers on both sides are rubbing their hands
That DJ could be on the receiving end of a very nice bonus if CFFC attain Premier League status surprises me not at all. I have had many dealings with Chinese Malaysians over the years (there is a vast difference between Malaysians and Chinese Malaysians) and found them to be very generous in rewarding success. They can be equally ruthless when it comes to failure, so I would not expect DJ to survive if we fail to get promoted.
As for the transfer targets: I think Loovens feels it to be step back but needs to play football; so he is a possibility. Routledge would be too expensive and considers himself too good for us, whereas Hammil's agent is touting his boy to Premiership clubs so that should be considered unlikely. Howard however I would love to see in a Cardiff shirt. I want to see him giving it to the opposition instead of us.
Merry Christmas Carl and all he best to you and yours in the New Year.

carlccfc wrote:For those who are concerned about the Boxing day game against Coventry City because of the snow and the apparent lack of effort at removing it from around the stadium are, I am assured, mistaken. City officials are "going all out" and are 99.9% that the game will be on.

The good news is that despite him not being fit for the Burnley game due to his hamstring pull, Jay Bothroyd is now fully recovered and will play against Coventry.

I have read many posts on here claiming DJ does not have the passion or desire to take this team up to the Premier League. Absolute nonsense.

I see people say he doesn't care enough and in that they believe that DJ is not bothered about if we lose to the Jacks and so on. On the matter of the jacks Dave Jones and his coaching staff have regular training methods but for the 3rd season running, in the week leading up to Swansea game DJ changed the training routines and even changed our formation from our regular shape. This is not the actions of a man who simply doesn't care, they are the actions I believe of someone who wants the result desperately.

Another reason why DJ would want to get this team promoted is the bonus I believe he will receive on achieving promotion to the Premier League. It is my understanding that Dave Jones will collect £2million if he achieves the dream of delivering promotion.

Transfer targets I am aware of are already floating about and have been for a while and in some cases for months. Loovens is a target and so is Wayne Routledge and Adam Hammill.

Steven Howard has told his agent that he likes the set up at City and "can see himself playing for the club ", there is the come and get me plea, DJ was interested in the Summer but the stumbling block would be the length of contract, I understand that Howard wants a minimum of a 2 and a half year deal.

Nick Montgomery is a player you may have read about recently as a target, in the summer he was wanted by Dave Jones and the player's agent came to the club to negotiate and wanted £10k wages p.w for the player but the board of Cardiff City refused to pay those wages for him. Montgomery has since signed a 3 year deal with Sheffield United and is currently captaining the side so he will not be coming here this January.

Cardiff City have retained their academy status as a result of the recently built House of Sport and the timing is very good as I have said before that there is plans to grade academy from next season and we will be graded at level 2 with the elite being at at level 1. There is plans also to extend to European academy's playing each other in the not so distant. The FA simply want the cream of the crop eating at the top table and want lower league clubs to be nowhere near their big guns and the European academy league is another step in that direction. Clubs lower than us are actually losing their academy status if they do not have a hydrotherapy pool.

The Malaysians have been so impressed by the recent build that they have in fact invited Steve Borley to Malaysia in the New Year to go through plans of building such a venture in their homeland.

Still no deal agreed between Langston and CCFC. There is 9 days to conclude any deal but it is looking increasingly unlikely and the club will have missed the opportunity to reduce a massive debt. Sam Hammam wants the deal to happen but unless there is talk between himself and Vincent Tan or his representatives then I cannot see any hope of it happening.

This is short update whilst I take a break from wrapping Christmas presents

Merry Christmas :ayatollah:

Carl

I agree about the boxing day game and i think there is just a lot of scaremongering going on regards that. If that game failed to go ahead i could see some major fallout with a couple of people deservedly being shown the front door
With regards to the bonus it is the same one the ex chairman had for a million and was once again drawn up without the prior knowledge of other board members and major shareholders.
Regarding sam you know that i have always in a roundabout way pointed out that there were certain misdemeanours during his reign. It is now my belief that the malaysians have all this information and most importantly the documentation as well so this will be an interesting few weeks in this game of brinkmanship.
With regards to jones i understand your points of view and he has all the resources in place to achieve all our ambitions.
I just question why he did not bolster the defence in the close season and is know looking to do it in the january window.
Even an ardent supporter of jones like yourself would admit it was our defence that cost us promotion last year alongside the etuhu before ross clanger in the play off final.
I also would have preffered gerrard to still be in our squad and not hulls after all the opta stats that jones swears by show that gerrard and blake where the best pair of centre backs especially leading into the play offs.
I agree he has desire and passion but he also does petty to an extreme which becomes detrimental to the club in the long run.
There is obviously something about his character that puts premier clubs off employing him because he always seems to be on every short list but never seems to get that final interview.
Lets hope for our sakes that he does prove the doubters wrong and take us to the promised land come may because if he gets the backing from the malaysians in january to improve the already " best squad in the championship" and fails he will deserve to be shown the door and there will be a long queue there ready to open it for him

How long is his contract with us? Possibly an issue with compensation, and not wanting to have to pay it. The last few Premier League manager replacements, Blackburn, Newcastle and Aston Villa (?), all three have hired managers without needing to pay anything.

benji
he has a rolling one year contract which means that if we ever wanted to get rid of him it would cost us 850k to do so another legacy of our ex chairman

Loovens would be a big gamble

It seems obvious Burke is off

We desperately need another Jay type player. Howard aint getting any
younger and aint really a goalscorer. We need someone more mobile
than him in the Jason Roberts type mode.
