Annis I have said this to you in the past I think if we weren't fighting these guys there we would be fighting them here. ALL members of the military are volunteers. We are not forced to join up.

When I went to Afghanistan I said to my parents that if the worst was to happen then I didn't want any of my family slating the government or Blair/Brown etc as I am a volunteer and I know that being in the military means I may have to go to places like this. I feel I am making our country stronger and lots of soldiers do. IF we pull out now it is a sign of weakness and they will take advantage.

I am merely in the RAF and not a front line soldier like the heroes in the Army/Marines etc. I am sure a lot of them (not all) feel the same as me. Anyone who doesn't can put in their papers and leave.

I remember once around the time of Iraq kicking off an RAF guy said whilst training to prepare to go out "I didn't join up to go to war." He was slated massively and rightly so.

Fair one mate. My lad said the same that if the worst happens, and I were to slate the MOD and the
government (who i think treat our lads like shit)... he will come back and haunt me for making
him look like a big baby My mate who is a Sgt in the Welsh Guards said the same to his family!

RIP to the lad, I hope he's in a better place.

my lad is back out there come March April for the third time. He doesnt think we
are doing one bit of good. its all cosmetic. He has had to watch while Afghan police
drag young boys into compounds smiling AT him and his mates, then coming out
an hour later once these poor kids have been well and truly 'interrogated'.. They are
forced to sit on their hands and do nothing. Every school, every Library, every
medical centre the Allies have built will be blown to bits within a year of us pulling
out.

Put simply by my son (who is quite bright, must be off his mother)... when we leave..
the very first school blown up, the very first teacher beheaded, the very first child
murdered will mean everyone of the brave lads who have lost their lives will have been
for nothing. Afghanistan will be back to square one, and we all know its going to happen!

Thankfully, for the majority of our boys. They dont give a f**k about Afghanistan, or
its government, or our government, or flags, religion or race... they are only arsed
about their oppo's. The lads next to them who are knee deep in shit. THATS who they
are fighting for!

We have the SRR now (undercover special forces) they are patrolling the streets of Britain.
They are alleged to be about 150 strong, even less numbers than the SBS... The trillions of
pounds we have wasted in Afghanistan could EASILY make Britain a safe place to live. Just
imagine 1500 of these undercover lads, or 3000!!!.... these Muslim bombers wouldnt have a
f*cking chance. Pakistanis etc are forever disappearing anyway. Abdul bummed the wrong
little boy, or kissed the wrong girl... back of a van.... straight to the abbatoir and away we
go.... Just let our Special Forces loose on them in Britain and they'd soon wind their necks in!!

Oh, just as a disclaimer, before the PC boys jump on me... this would apply to the Christian bombers

Terrible news another lad killed RIP, The harsh reality is lads we are occupying a foriegn country. These people are not going to stand about and say would you like a cup of tea. If Wales was occupied by a foreign force you could understand their sentiments. The sad thing is as earlier posted when we pull out it will all go to pot there and the cleared areas will become no go zones again. My heart goes out to our lads and the bravery and strength shown on a daily basis such as TAFFY apples son and I would like to take the oppurtunity Taffy to hope your lad knows were all behind him and his mates 100 per cent,But my mind is angry at the government for taking us into this 'conflict'.

It shows the kind of people they're dealing with in both Afghanistan and Iraq. People that would happily lead their country slide backwards into another cesspit of antiquity and medievil squalour. With the benefit of hindsight, I may not agree with some aspects of what the British Army have done in the past, but on the majority part they are worthy of admiration.

wars are sadly not fought on idealogical grounds in the west. They are fought on maintaining balance of power, i.e. money and the means of earning it. In the past the industrial revolution and the knock on effect from this meant that this power lay in the west, to maintain this revolution required fuel, initially coal (no problem) then oil (no problem until the East caught up with who was holding the cards). Now we are in the early (or mid) stages of the balance of power shifting from West to East. This in m y opinion in why the world is now on a higher state of alert than ever before. There's a lot of powers jockying for position.

the soldiers are the ones who (as ever) bear the brunt and absolute respect and thanks go to each and everyone.

Life is ok here, f*cking freezing but ok. LOL. Interesting debate this about he rights and wrongs, Just glad to see for the first time in 31 years of service the public are publicly behind their soldiers. True soldiers don't give a f**k about goverments, politics etc its about their mates. but its more than that surley .....well it is for me anway that the hope that we can bring some form of peace to some of these poor people. The taliban don't give a f**k they intimdtae, murder and terrorise these people something chronic. Only the othjer day they mortared 10 kids purposely to attack the med evac aircraft i sent (thye tried to RPG the aircraft) wounding a british soldier in the process; to get the wounded kids to a decent hospital, unfortnately 3 of the kids died on the aircraft. The parents were so so pleased that we rescued them. If this were wales and we had f**k all no schools no hospitals no jobs no prospects no hope of a better life i'm sure that we'd be glad that someone cared enough to help.

Let's get this straight. We wouldn't be fighting them over here, that's total crap. Islamic extremists can operate training camps in Yemen & Somalia for a start,not mention many other places. So forget The myth that our troops are holding back some evil tide of jihadis from Afganistan that would otherwise be marching across Britain slaughtering the infidel. And you can't just hand your papers in and leave. It was a years notice for me.
