Pleased Russia got the World Cup vote!!

I think the majority of Welsh people were supporting the England 2018 bid, and rightly so.

Why wouldn't you want the World Cup on your doorstep for crying out loud, its the biggest event in all of football where all the best players in the world would be playing at once just a few hundred miles away.

I am truly gutted for them, and no-one can fault the effort put into that bid, it was outstanding in contrast to Russia's.

I wasn't bothered if England had it or not. I don't get all the anti English stuff. I don't care what England do as long as thier football team wins nothing and that's not anti English that's because the English media would go into overdrive and bore me to tears with how wonderfull they are for the next thirty odd years a la Bobby moore and the "heroes" of '66. The only concern I had was if it would cost the tax payer any money like the London olympics have. Giving it to Russia, a country riddled with corruption where the Police are as likely to rob you as anyone else and with a massive hooligan/crime problem is crazy. Qatar is even madder. Leave a football legacy? to who exactly? there are only a million Qataris. FIFA are bent and Qatar is wealthy so there you go I suppose.

Good decision from FIFA, put in a country in minus temperatures and not even real grass!

It's a great loss for Wales as well. anyone who can't see that is being very small minded. We have two of the best UK base camps in south Wales plus there would be a queue of teams wanting to play some games in Wales to warm up. Seeing Lionel Messi play at the CCS would have been a real posibility.

It should not be said that Russia won the rights to host the cup only through the filtration of roubles and petro-dollars to ExCo members. That sort of attitude is repulsive. Russia is a football country. And any talk of corruption from the English contingent should be quelled. Was it fair to move Portugal's 1966 semi-final from Liverpool to Wembley on the eve of the game, meaning Eusebio and company were forced to endure a seven-hour coach trip?

I think you're over playing how big a football nation Russia is! Yes their Euro record is good, albeit when they were part of the Soviet Union, yet most of the best Soviet players were from the Ukraine and played for Dynamo Kiev. In the WC they finished 4th in 66, but apart from that they were poor and under achieved. Russian football is quite corrupt at the moment, with a lot of alleged match fixing going on,and racism is a massive problem. Also the Russian top flight has an average attendance of around 13k!Worse support than the Jacks lol. Maybe football in Russia aint as big as you think it is?

PS Getting tickets for a WC in England would have been hard, but if you really wanted one and tried hard enough, I believe I would have got tickets. It will be 2030, at the earliest when England or the UK get a WC tournament, and I'll be 61 then, So not sure if I will be arsed then.

I couldnt give a stuff about 'England' Well done Russia they have won it fair and square plus they have better looking women will be far better than seeing some of the fatties over here. If your ever faced with hoolies in say Plymouth or Bristol City I dont think saying 'oh mate were all British' or I love English football will save you. Well done Russia
