I am as surprised as everybody else that Man Utd had scouts at Scunthorpe looking at Jay but the fact remains they were there, do I think Man Utd will sign Jay then my answer would be no.

But whatever happens we must keep hold of Jay until the end of the season or we could really struggle.

If Jay did leave in January or at the end of the season then I would thank him for his efforts in a City shirt and wish him all the best.

I think we are getting ahead of ourselves, do you really think that Jay is good enough for Man Utd. I would imagine they would set their sights a lot higher than Jay with all respect.

Personally I think Jay would be a perfect foil for Wayne Rooney.

Actually I emailed the FA back in June suggesting to Fabio Capello that including Jay, Whits and Chops in the World Cup squad would be a masterstroke.

He didn't reply which was his loss, but he can still redeem himself by taking a closer look at our English qualified players.

Being serious I think this kind of thing is pretty normal when a player gets a surprise international call up. I can remember Ninian Park being packed with scouts when Lee Jarman got a surprise call up to the Welsh squad when Bobby Gould was in charge.

Why on earth would Newcastle want Jay when they already have Carroll? Surely they are very similar in style (on the pitch, that is!) - though I would say Jay has a lot more skill.

I like most city fans am a big Jay fan and would be over the moon if he signed a new 3-4 year contract, but at the same time I cannot believe how much speculation it's causing, if he wants to go for what ever reason, well I'd wish him well and concentrate on getting someone in who wants to play for us. At the end of the day CCFC will be here long after jays days and with all the greatest respect is far bigger than Jay, chops, Burke or whoever. We'll go up this season automatically easy so if Jay wants premiership football sign on the dotted line mate!

The way i see it and i must admit i am totally pissed now; but we have two choices which are sell Jay in January for between 3 to 5 million which as got be his value with all the interest in him. Or we keep Jay until May and if we go up we can offer him a decent contract and it's then down to him and his agent if he accepts or not.

But what Jay as to remember is that it is Dave Jones who has got him playing the way he is now if he had a different manager would still perform the same???

100% correct. What is a Prem Club going to offer us in Jan for someone on a reported £7k whose contract is up in May? £1m? £2m if that club's really looking down the barrel of relegation? Yes. Clubs would be mental to offer anymore.

Jay won't sign a new contract this season and why should he? But that also means he goes nowhere in January unless we say he does - and we won't because £1m/£2m now compared to the riches promotion will bring us is a 'no brainer' and I'll bet our Malaysians realise this.

If we fail to go up then Jay walks away for nothing (rather than the £1m we might get now) and if that happens then he certainly goes with my blessings and that sentiment should be echoed by every Bluebird. If we go up, then I'm sure he'd be the first name on the Board's list and he'll more than likely become the Club's highest ever earner. And, unless we really are talking about an offer from Man U, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea etc - then he'll sign for us. If you can have a good agent then Sky Andrews is one of those and it won't be lost on Jay that it's Cardiff City, us fans and most importantly Dave Jones that has got him (with his own undoubted talent) to where he is now: full England squad and on the radar of Premier League clubs

lets not forget the talented players that surround jay and are probably giving him the best service of his career.

Everybody seems to be mentioning ManUre, it's the other clubs that were there that we should be worrying about.

At the end of the day we should be paying Jay handsomely to reflect his importance to the team!! He's our most important player IMO and the club should recognise this and "stump up the cash" before these other clubs come knocking, because they will certainly "stump up the cash".

It would gave to be an amazing offer from the prem to warrant selling him, we should hold onto him til the end of the season gambling on the fact that his goals will get us automatic promo.
I can't see anyone offering us big money because he is so late into his contract, let's offer him a improved deal and if he won't expect keep him til end of season and gamble on his goals gaining us promo

I think this should be viewed at a positive thing if we were not doing so well other clubs would not be looking at our players, we pulled Jay out of the gutter and I know theres no loyalty in football, if he goes (and I hope he dont) then I think he will be making the biggest mistake in his career, we get the best out of him and play to his style, I dont think bigger clubs would do that he would have to fit into thier style of play look at berbatov for example-world beater at spurs rubbish (in my opinion) at man u,

Jay Bothroyd is a special player there is no doubt about that, for me he is the most important player we have in the team and without him we struggle.

I understand what some are saying that players come and go but for christs sake while we have the like of Bothroyd with the talent he possesses then we must use it to it's maximum, I are not getting carried but I realise how we need Jay to stand a realistic chance of automatic promotion, for crying out loud, there were 12 scouts from the Premier League and the Championship, which included Man Utd, he has received a call up to the England squad whilst playing in the Championship, not only must we keep hold of Jay we need to go one further and get someone in January who is equal or better than him to really build a squad capable of promotion.

So City get it sorted and sign the guy up, offer him a contract that will pay the appropriate wage based on what division we are in come August next year, also give him the incentives to to score the goals and deliver the performances to get us up.
