It will depend on refs view if why gave red? If he puts dangerous and endangering player could have grounds given what just seen at ncastle! Definitely not dangerous or endangering opponent

Like you've said though, Botman's was worse than Osho's - he was over the ball. Osho can't be a red if that one isn't.

To be honest was shocked VAR didn't send the referee to look at the Botman challenge.

Botman cleanly took the ball first though, then his foot rolled over the ball with the follow through and momentum, then he caught the man after. I didn't even think it was a foul, because Botman took the ball cleanly first. There's a follow through with every tackle and that's part of the game. If every player was sent off for taking the ball first, then catching the man on the follow through, there would be no defenders left on the pitch.

Osho's was different because he completely missed the ball. He gambled, lunged in our of control, missed the ball and made contact with their player.

It was a stupid challenge and he deserved to get sent off.

I can see the argument for sending Osho off (even if I don't agree with it), I said in my original post that he gave the referee a decision to make. I don't think it's worth appealing because it won't be overturned.

But I think if that's a red card then so is Botman's challenge.

The only red in the game should've been for the pull back on Moylan in the penalty area

That was a harsh red card I don’t see it getting over turned thou Osho very unlucky when you look at other tackles in the game

Osho's was completely different, because he completely missed the ball, so first contact was with the man. It was a reckless, aggressive challenge which could have injured him.

A clear red card.

Referee said to Botman "I think it's reckless - even though you get a touch on the ball, it's still reckless". I'd argue it was dangerous too (which would mean red card), he could have broken the Villa player's leg. Just because he got a touch on the ball, doesn't make it any less dangerous.

We'll obviously have to agree to disagree but I think Botman's challenge was far more dangerous than Osho's.

I wonder if the Ref's decision was influenced by the fact that he had spoken to both players involved earlier over their running shenanigans following Osho shoulder muscling the 'Boro forward off the ball as it went out of play a few minutes earlier?

I'd say his decision was influenced by the bench and fans... How often do you see a ref play advantage after a red card offense. I'd his first instinct must have been yellow

Well he allowed play to go on but lino was waving furiously so guessing the lino had lot to do with the decision!

No. It wasn't even a telling off years ago. The games gone Snowflake because of actors playing it. The ref played to the home fans the whole game. Embarrassing he was.

I thought he took the ball and was lucky to take the man in the way he did. Not a red card fir me, and the referee (who was otherwise okay) should have played the advantage and then given a yellow card

See the Newcastle players challenge yesterday and he took the villa players ankle with the stud's of his foot, VAR didn't even look at it which was ten times worse than osho challenge. The games fucked.

I 'm pretty sure it was the 4th official that stuck his oar in that made the ref stop the game, because Osho was wagging his finger at the 4th official as he walked past the 4th official and he was saying something back to Osho, so Osho must have known it was the official who said something to the ref.

Should have a been a yellow. Nowhere near red card level. It was a poor challenge, but didn't seem all that dangerous. The player sold it as did the bench and crowd. Simple as that.

I thought it was soft. But it was a poor challenge and gave the referee a decision to make.

Voted no.

Clear yellow, nowhere near a red card.

Bournemouth game red card a c Milan keeper as the corner came in he pushed Bournemouth player in face red card and a penalty! The oddity about penalty taker? This was 2nd in game scored 1st one then changed penalty taker for 2nd and he scored! Said after moylan incident it does happen....

I couldn't believe the keeper was arguing about the red card after seeing the replay, and the Milan bench were going absolutely crazy.

Not sure why he put hands to his face could just have easily put them on his chest? After all was just getting him away from his space for corner! B3st part ref was actually looking straight at them....
