Robinson scored yesterday. Your point has not been proven.

Just like we didn't need to sign a striker in January, as we still got promoted.

Yes i was waiting for someone to pipe up a out Robinson scoring yesterday moylan laid it on a plate for him,did he do anything else,?
Bbm hardly played him last season why ? His legs have gone and if you think he is a good replacement for salec, he could not play 2 games a week.
Kellyman was the man that replaced salec last season in our promotion Robinson did not feature much apart from clapping on the side of the pitch.

What about when Salech missed a tap in the other week?

Robinson had one good chance and took it.

I'm glad we didn't sign another striker because it would be a panic signing, that's how you end up with the likes of Etete.

Salec missed a tap in more reason to have an alternative striker, Robinson had 1 good chance yes 1 chance that's why he was taken off ,
we could have signed a real quality striker why would we have to panic buy when we had 4 months?

If the available players didn't fit the right profile then no point signing them, better to go with what we have.

But what if what we have are not good enough? (I know that you believe they are)

Seems like it's almost impossible to find players with "the right profile" as we've had three transfer windows now where only a handful of players with the right profile have been recruited.

We seem to be fishing in a tiny pool and when you take into account that some of those with the right profile will be too expensive, some won't be interested in Cardiff like the Norwegian lad perhaps it's no wonder the squad is so thin on the ground.

Perhaps the right profile needs to be tweaked just slightly in January as I cannot believe there are not numerous players who would improve our squad without ruining the current dynamic.

Fair argument about the quality of players we have. My argument that we don't have a weak squad is partly due to the fact we've outplayed everyone at home (apart from maybe Wrexham). Would I have liked us to have signed a striker? Of course, but only if it added some quality. The last thing we needed is another Etete.

I've said it before but I just don't believe the lack of signings is because the manager wasn't backed. It may well be that, but I believe that it's the manager knowing what he wants and preferring nobody instead of people he doesn't want.

You say the profile of player could change but that can't be at the expense of changing the style of play. The style has to stay like this. The manager pointed out when he was appointed that "we stick to this style because when things don't go our way then we have the style as a point of reference".

What I don't believe in is saying these players aren't good enough and we're destined for relegation after nine games. We're not even in the relegation zone. It's still so early - I highly doubt Swansea will win the league or that Burnley will be relegated.[/quote

I'm really not advocating changing the style of play but when that style is not working for whatever reason I'd like the manager and players to be able to vary the style slightly to react to that but I'm not sure either can.

This is why Russell Martin's career trajectory is on such a downward spiral at the moment - a complete refusal to compromise on a possession based method of football has seen him go from managing Rangers in Europe to struggling in League One.

I like BBM and would hate to see the same thing happen to him.

I remember a few seasons ago we were winning 4-0 away at Leeds and with five minutes left Leeds were passing it aimlessly back and forth amongst their back four in their own half as they had no other way of playing.

Even Pep ended up mixing it up rather than sticking slavishly to one style!

I honestly enjoy watching our young players playing the way they do after years of having no particular identity to our play. I just wish we had some flexibility and a desire to change approach once in a while if "the playing style" isn't working.

Great post David's, can just about make out where it starts. Think you speak for an awful lot of us fans with your comments there. I'd defo hate for BBM to go down the Russell Martin route. Jokanovic was another, a bit like him, who so stubbornly stuck to his style of play, it was painful to watch.

We ain't asking for a massive change in how we play but a bit more variation when it's needed, absolutely.

This is where the additional striker to pump balls into or a specialist 6 to snuff out the counters would have helped.

Thanks and yes, sorry about the fact that Worcester's post is repeated before my reply - I'm useless at these sort of things! :old:

For anyone else confused by the apparent contradiction in the post - my reply to Worcester starts with the words " I'm really not advocating changing the style of play.....".

Apologies for any confusion caused.

I've highlighted those two sentences as they are exactly what I've been banging on about since the start of the season and in all my references to BBM's involvement in Leicester's premier league relegation.

BBM has no sense of how to read, or change, a live game. It's his way or the highway. Mowbray absolutely played BBM on the weekend.

The cross reference to Russel Martin is appropriate - same tactics, same results, same post-match excuses when it doesn't work. Leicester fans are already debating who is worse - BBM or Martin?

It's as if we didn't know this wasn't going to happen at some point and we had a replacement who does what he does waiting to slot in right  Yes we got Robinson but totally different player so we have to play differently at times with him playing there he's past it for me at this level unless he's set up a for a tap home that's all he offers, but still on good coin. I wouldn't even compare him and salech to do the same things asked by BBM as he can't do it.

I agree with you about Robinson which is why it was utter madness not to bring in a striker by the end of the transfer window. BBM is young and still learning his trade but HAS to adapt his tactics especially away from home, we are far too open at the back and concede far to many easy goals.

More and more people are picking up on this issue.
