The manager does have the backing for what he wants, within the financial rules. If we sign nobody else or just one more by the end of the window then it's fair to criticise, but not now because we don't have the full picture.

You can say "it's Tan's money so I don't care" all you want, but you would care if it risked the club's future.

So you think things could be that bad and we are risking the clubs future by investing in players ,rather than possibly been relegated because we did not invest in some players,

if we had as you say 6 million on offer for a Norwegian I am simply saying spend that money on some quality not just anyone .

The perceived lack of forward planning (signings) since mid-April is unforgivable. I am quite concerned for us early season and with Wrexham looming, who'll want revenge for dumping them out of the cup last season - they might well sniff an opportunity.

If Tan believes BBM can work a miracle with our threadbare, wet behind the ears squad, then we're in for a painful struggle this season. As always, actions speak louder than words, and its a bit late in the day now.

The window closure in September is irrelevant at this stage.

Well we know the manager has the backing. He put in a £6.2m bid for that Norwegian player - that bid did happen, whatever Monty tells you. So the deadline is not irrelevant.

As for conceding goals, if we concede two or three to Wrexham then it's totally fair to point these things out. But not in a game that felt very much like a friendly.

We went through all this last season when we lost to Newport in the cup. It was an overreaction then and it's an overreaction now.

Would have thought the transfer window is very relevant seeing as lots are worried about players not coming in while its still open? While fo have some sympathy for those wanting players in early as we've seen before its ehen window closes is the time to form an opinion on our squad... but I'm sure of one thing if we do bring in 4 players there will still be complaints the squad is to light?

I hope you too are right and these players do come in, ideally 4 more. I want your confidence and belief but I'm struggling with the time that has lapsed since the end of last season. Worcester usually has the gift of foresight so I'll try not to worry if he says everything is fine and dandy.

I'll likely be one that still complains though even if the 4 do come in before the deadline...coz it will mean they are all youngsters. Fair do's BBM wants young and hungry players but u need a peppering of experience too if you are to cope with the riggers of championship football. We don't have much. Plus, how many of these youngsters will we have to give back? It's not really building a team/squad is it?

Didn't say everything will be alright, I don't know that for sure.

I said judge it at the end of the window, not three weeks before. Don't get why that could be seen as unreasonable or controversial. Whereas it is unreasonable to judge a squad three weeks before a window closes.

Ned I have to agree with you, it's 3 weeks early to start panicking. There will be players coming in. I just wish people would be patient, but its the nature of the beast that is Cardiff city supporters :banghead:

I agree with both of you.

My stance is that he is being backed and I’m being patient as it’s difficult for many reasons to pick the players you want sometimes. No difference to most other clubs.

Everyone knows we need players including our manager, of course, as we all know this squad is not strong enough.

Most fans say they trust BBM and back him but only when it suits them!

I get the frustration, but it does feel like some people are missing the direction the club is trying to go in, or simply can’t wait to criticise.

I did enjoy the club’s “Good things come to those who wait” line on the Moylan transfer!

We know BBM wants a very small squad where every player has a genuine chance of playing. He can’t plan for three of our centre-backs being injured, or for us to have this many players unavailable at once.

The reason Wintle wasn’t given a new contract is that he doesn’t fit what BBM is trying to build.

The injury situation has probably brought some unexpected pressure, but given the age and profile of player we’re targeting, I’d imagine a lot of them will be end-of-window signings, once teams have finalised their squads and players know where they stand.

Ultimately, you can only properly assess our transfer window once it closes. Let’s see what happens.

Which I'm sure it will. Plenty of time left.

And yes, overspending on transfers does risk the club's long future. That's more of a risk than relegation is.

A great and well balanced post mate.

There are some who are getting frustrated and I can understand that then there a bunch who are just generally miserable buggers who complain about everything and are not happy until they’re moaning.

Let’s trust our manager and wait and see.

It's not like shopping in supermarket where you pick off shelf and say I'll take it how much? One trand going through as been on going for several weeks like a lot do... can only assume theres a reason why any we want to buy are not available at this precise moment in time..... strange I admit but got to trust bbm that he's got things under control... nothing to do with tan this is purely down to bbm,s recruitment agenda

Ned,

The Norwegians say they had hardly any contact with us and we never even spoke to the player.

Hmmm

I actually I’m really unsure about this.

We knew about the injuries all summer especially Lawlor and Rubin for the last few weeks.
Fish was unexpected but that’s football.

As you say BBM wants a very small squad,Well a lot of consequences come with that and we will always suffer then on back up.
As to Chambers he now seems injury prone and that was evident last season.

So really all these problems are NO surprise at all.

Lawlor is injury prone spent most of last season on the treatment bench
I don’t think we will see him again until November or December the earliest
Fish out until Christmas as well
Chamber could back in the next month
Rubin Colwell out with ankle injury so maybe October or November

And if BBM is happy with that then he not change his ways since last season we will a lot more signings for the defensive area rather than our attacking

I have been saying for over a month - where are these players from the manager meeting the owner months ago :?

Planing - promises - the way forward - Backing - Was what we all heard from the end of last season :o

Instead we got spung Savage jrn and a £5M Norway midfielder to keep you all interested - But not Me ;)

End of transfer window ffs?.its now today before the Wrexham game we need players which is just a week away .that Swindon game was a carry on from last season league 1 football. Bad defending but managing to. score more than poor opposition, we will struggle at this level,

Perhaps the club is waiting until after the transfer window closes, then someone cheap, who has NO club and available for a cheap signing cover (This looks the case), Tan is always buy cheap hoping the Lidl buy will hold up to the task.

Yes you can judge at the end of the window but once it's closed yours and my opinion is worth shite

If there was 25 minutes left of a window some would say the same when in truth the club will have had nearly THREE months to sort signings ready for pre season which has now come and gone. I don't believe for one moment BBM is being backed to what he wanted, he knows if this current squad is up to a top half finish or not with what we got. People think he's been doing nothing for 10 odd weeks because he wants a small squad who will probably be in a fight and all this world cup timescale bollocks is just excuses but we have become immune to that at the media spin over the years and last minute signings who take weeks to get fit so bench it for 4 weeks and come on for ten minutes. BBM toes the party line like all managers that's the truth of it.

It's the same old shit from the club and fans as we all know.

At the end of the day if we are serious about staying up or going for promotion we would have signed players to suit ready and bedded in by now via a pre season and he would have been backed to date with what he wanted to what the clubs vision is this season coming.

Although anything can happen in the next week or whatever. We are playing the likes of kpakio who's not even a div 1 player in my opinion the man can not even pass a ball from A to B half the time and Ng who's not a center back , turn backwards Turnbull who's turns up once every 40 games and so on, which tells me everything right now we got over half a team who are not championship players id say. One week to go and he's saying we are short all over the place numbers wise and he needs players, then he's happy with a small squad the next interview. It's bizarre our club. Although this is just my opinion of course :bluescarf:

He will just go elsewhere BBM will at some point despite the all's gravy media interviews because we have f*cking idiots above.

Blimey - and I thought I was a miserable git.

We are not all chuffing hard on a vintage afghanistan crack pipe that's been used around a small village for 50 years sadly so we can see the issues at the club. It won't make us less of a fan or fans, nore does it make us this whole woke "negative" shit some spin after anything other than it's rosey within posts. It won't stop us from going down weekly either. Irrelevant of who's on the pitch. It's just what I see and think like many others :bluescarf:

Tony is always positive but even he can see we have problems and they should of been sorted weeks ago:

We had four central defenders. How many more did we need??

That was probably the position we needed to strengthen least. In hindsight we should have kept Daland but BBM obviously does not think he was good enough

Having said that I wish already had another left back striker (or striker/winger)and defensive/central midfielder in

If that is because of the club dithering again I would be annoyed, but if it because BBM only wants to get players of the quality he wants, I am happy to rely on his judgement, even though it is starting g to get to nail biting time!!

I hope Glen Williams is right and we are close to 3.

One final point. I am a bit surprised that our best young defender appears to be a 15 year old given that he is in the 1st team squad. What about the ones we have in the 17 to 22 age bracket. Aren't they good
