So his sentiment today, I wonder if that’s an intentional public show of frustration from him where he’s applying pressure to get the signings moving.

Based on what was made public last year about him ripping up the transfer profiles the club had lined up, it’s possible he’s had easier targets come across his desk that he’s rejected in pursuit of those bigger names, the Dahl’s of the world..

That 6 position must be a sticking point for him, seeing as the news coming through Glen and others is that he has a specific profile intended for that role, which Robertson largely doesn’t match. (The physical attributes being taller than 6 foot, strong and technically excellent, like Rodri). If when we come to September, we haven’t strengthened across the squad.. it’ll be interesting to see what BBM does if a bigger club comes knocking. So let’s hope there’s serious investment between now and September!

What confuses me, is that Daland is on the books, but has been loaned out even though we knew the CB situation.

Some good points there.

In that quote are we seeing the first signs of frustration from the manager?

Just my opinion of course but I think he's given a list of what he wants to the hierarchy but for one reason or another they've been unable to provide him with what he needs.

BBM is no fool - he knows that if we go into the season as we are it's going to be a relegation battle from day one.

I really hope I'm wrong but so far I can't help thinking that the manager is being somewhat let down by those running the club and their inability to stregnthen the squad in the many areas that are vital at this time.

Some good points, but BBM not exactly helping himself here, I think.

How?

By getting us promoted when people on here unfairly wrote him off as soon as he arrived? Before you say it was League One, the other two relegated teams didn't even make play-offs.

By only wanting to sign the right players and waiting if necessary?

By not wanting to stockpile the squad like we have in the past? Something that led to us being stuck with players and had a hand in our relegation.

There are three weeks to go until the window shuts and I hope those that have lost their minds this summer admit they reacted way too impatiently.

But they won't because they don't have the level of humility required to admit they were wrong.

I wouldn't try and read between the lines of what he says when it comes to transfers because it's impossible.

I think if you know him, it's a lot easier to read him. An open book, really.

BBM definitely prefers younger players who are willing to learn and adapt, or who already have the exact qualities he looks for. We're fishing in a smaller pool than most teams in this league, so it stands to reason that we’ll sign fewer players and have to wait a bit longer for the right deals.

The loan market will help massively, but those deals always take time to fall into place. I think we’ll end up with three or four more who genuinely add value to the squad, but we just have to stay patient. The only potential "panic buy" we might be forced into now is a backup centre-half out of bad luck and necessity, especially given our current defensive injuries.

If by the end of the window we've signed Kellyman on loan and at least three other high quality players I will be absolutely delighted.

Anything less than that, especially given the current injury situation and I will be extremely disappointed.

That's fair, that's obviously what you think we need. And it's always right to only judge it at the end of the window.

But what isn't fair is the way people are acting right now. They're acting in an entitled way because they can't show patience. Makes me embarrassed of our fans to be honest.

The 'cementhead' reference/comparison is fitting and goes back way before his time here.

A more common phrase is 'Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good'

Happy to be proven wrong over the coming season, if appropriate, and will own up if that's the case - including if Osho has a stormer of a year.

Why on earth do you think our fans are embarrassing? Why are we entitled? I think our fans have been very patient considering our last game last season was at the end of April...and let's not forget we got relegated the year before.

Because they are throwing a massive strop about it. If the club listened to them we'd have a 50 man squad and would also be in administration. It's pathetic.

You can say "bla bla bla" all you want but it's a fact that there are three weeks to go. It needs repeating because too many people are acting like it closes when the Wrexham game starts.

I know people like Monty want us all to be miserable all the time about the club and are using this opportunity to push it.

But it's not complicated is it? A squad is sorted over a transfer window. Not up until the first game of the season.

Look at last season. If our squad was what it was going into the first game then we'd have gone through the season with no Trott, no Kellyman, no Osho. Sort of proves my point.

I can't tell if people are so dense they can't see that or if they're just being downbeat about the club for the sake of it. We know these people prefer being downbeat about the club than us winning a game or doing well.

Such a sad mindset these people have.

Re: BBM says "we need new players"

Mon Aug 10, 2026 3:15 pm

No1 is throwing a strop, you might be but no1 else is. We are just frustrated and concerned...that is all and we are allowed to be.

I, nor any other fellow supporter on here are dense either so keep the insults to yourself. We are just worried about where things stand currently.

The window isn't shut so signings must be on their way (please FGS) but didn't you expect us to be way further along that we are currently? I genuinely expected us to have 3 or 4 signings in by now (most of whom would have had some sort of pre-season with us). I then expected a loany youngster or 2 to complete the squad b4 the window shuts. But no...our squad is weaker than when we finished league 1, we have injuries, staff positions to fill. It's really not great is it. It's actually pretty pi$$ poor!

So just let us vent man coz we need too. The club needs to know we ain't happy.

I would say people putting out daily threads like "we need this, we need that" and constantly complaining about the lack of activity so far is them throwing a strop. But that's only what I think of them.

I have actually said all window that I expected our business to be late. I also think some people still haven't adapted to how this manager works.

In the past we've signed six or seven players by the end of July, but that's not how he does things. He picks a select few positions where we need additions but is absolutely clear he will wait for the players he wants.

So no I'm not concerned. I'll be concerned if we don't bring in three or four before the deadline. Without being ITK, I think we will make those additions.

If the window was closed then these reactions would be understandable but it's not so they aren't.

You mention staff positions. Glen Williams has said the new GK coach from Man City is just waiting for the paperwork (for the record I normally believe him). The others are academy positions and someone to work with Gibbins. These are important positions but they are also things we can cope without for the time being.

If people were just lightly complaining these situations then I wouldn't be bothered. But they're making out it's the end of the world when it really isn't. As I've said, some are criticising just because that's what they enjoy doing.

Re: BBM says "we need new players"

We'll agree to disagree then mate. Quite a lot of people say that to you don't they?

You are so unbelievably and staunchly pro Cardiff City, while its under BBM's reign, that there is no healthy debate to be had with you. The club can do absolutely no wrong in your eyes and our frustration is completely uncalled for, we are dense, we are entitled. This is all part of the grand plan haha.

BBM absolutely does not want to sign anyone for pre-season. It's not how he works or operates. Getting players to gel and settle - my arse. He definitely doesn't want a GK coach in for pre-season either. Trott and the others will be fine.

This has been a very weird pre-season for me. I feel we are under prepared and not in a good place. Our frustration is also very warranted.

You can have the last say mate, I know you like too.

You watch us put 5 on Wrexham now, Trott has a blinder and keeps a clean sheet, the new dude scores a hatrick and Osho is MOTM.

The championship starts on Friday and we've added 1 new player to our ranks. Just 1!...while losing 3.

Why on earth do you think our fans are embarrassing? Why are we entitled? I think our fans have been very patient considering our last game last season was at the end of April...and let's not forget we got relegated the year before.

We've had a great reset so surely you can see why we all expected soooooo much more up to this point.

I know the window isn't shut yet and there are 3 weeks to go bla bla bla (lost count how many times you've repeated that - like a broken bl00dy record) but don't you think we've got the right to get twitchy and impatient now?

Get real man, come on.

I'm not digging myself a hole at all. If I'm wrong then I always own up, unlike others such as you. I am still waiting for all those people who wrote off BBM last year to admit they were wrong.

I don't care if I'm getting on your nerves. You get on my nerves for constantly running the club down. It's either complaining about transfers, segregation, crowds, stadium seating plan etc and it's constant. I am not the only person who thinks that either.

I'm certain that there are people who find me annoying on here and I can acknowledge that and why, fair enough. But the fact you can't even see (or just deny) how downbeat about the club your posts always are speaks volumes.

So whilst you carry on making out everything is terrible and trying to depress everyone, I'll continue making the counter argument in the way I do.

Think you need to take a deep breath and chill. The irony of you saying I'm abusive to you when you've just used the F word twice. And then saying I'll "get the response I deserve". I have no desire to meet someone who speaks in that way.

And it is about making the counter argument. I'm not running you down at all, just saying what I think.

I will always push my opinion, as you always say that's what a forum is about.

I've already admitted that I probably annoy people on here, but I can acknowledge that. Difference is you also annoy people (they've told me) but you make out that it isn't the case.

So don't tell me to shut up, because I'm not going to and certainly don't need advice from you. I'll continue what I've been doing on this forum for 16 years thanks.

And I don't use a keyboard on this forum, I use my phone.

You can only post we will win the league with this squad, BBM will be the real Madrid manager in time and be up beat every time irrelevant of anything else going on at the club it's as if we dont go to watch for years right so don't see what's going on

16 years of Worcester and his ego (and his views and rules), my god, kill me now.

Anyway, before we try and get back to the football coz this thread is going on a bit. Monty....please dont listen to this guy. I dont know you but you come across as a good, sincere, genuine bloke who clearly loves Cardiff City and always means well. This forum is better and definitely more balanced with you in it for sure.

Im not surprised you've lashed out a bit today coz Worcester goes out of his way on a daily basis to wind you up and belittle you at every turn. Sometimes its subtle, sometimes its not, but its constant, like a dripping tap and its obviously quite personal.

Just ignore him (even though it's hard) and carry on doing what you're doing.

Just like Monty has gone for me personally before. It was relentless and not just to me. But he can't handle it when it's the other way around.

For clarity, I don't have an ego. If most people didn't want me on this forum then I'd happily leave, but that's not the case. I know that a lot of people believe I talk sense.

You tell him to carry on what he's doing. I'll carry on doing what I'm doing - providing a counter argument and moderating this forum along with Forever Blue, Sven, Igovernor and Top Cat.

I'll let you or him have the last word if you want, as you both seem so obsessed with that.

Re: BBM says "we need new players"

The suits are clueless, under qualified and just a waste of space. But we already all know that.

We say it every single year that we are in desparate need of a Director of Football. Sadly until that happens we are stuck with this lot.

They've known we need to strengthen the squad the day we got promoted last season. We are a weaker squad than last year and these charlatans in charge of recruiting the players are letting us down again. I understand we may get more in between now and end of the window, but time is ticking. BBM would've handed his targets over to them ages ago.

Nobody else seems to struggle to recruit with the World Cup being this summer. Middlesborough have signed two of the USA World Cup squad and they've already made their debuts.
