That would mean the split the vote rhetoric reform were spewing all week meant nothing
It would also massively increase the majority from the last general election in the constituency. Highlights his personal popularity, because Labour are not popular at the moment.
But let's see what the actual result is. But it does seem inevitable he'll win now. We did have at least 2,000 volunteers here today, I've not known anything like it outside of a GE - I can't say anything because I was part of it.

I think with Burnham in number 10 it will bring back a lot of disgruntled labour voters who are fed up and have been lending votes to other left leaning parties
This will be a good or bad thing depending which side of the divide you sit on

ANDY BURNHAM WINS THE MAKERFIELD BY-ELECTION
Wins by over 9,000 votes.

Congratulations to Andy Burnham and to you and yours who worked so hard and tirelessly to assist in what I believe will be an historic moment in Labour Party history
As you know, I have no political allegiance to any one party, but I know when someone is going to make a difference; and in the current political climate, Andy Burnham is that person
I fully expect him to lay down his challenge to temporary Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, sooner rather than later, and win; not withstanding the potential involvement of Wes Streeting, Angela Rayner, and/or other candidates
Not sure it will change anything substantially, but (sadly) Sir Keir Starmer has failed to deliver in power, as have his sycophantic deputy, and Rachel from Accounts

Just another career politician, who’s never done a day in a proper job. Another clueless clown, who flip flops to suit public opinion. He’ll do exactly the same as Starmer, look after the bloated public sector, the benefits class and third world economic migrants.

No surprises here, will be glad to see the back of Starmer. Hopefully this will lead to a general election but I doubt it

All parties talk up their results, but labour have held this seat whatever boundary and name changes since Jesus was a lad. AB is a local lad and everybody knew he will be PM if elected, so the dices were fully loaded. That cannot happen in the other 400 constituencies they hold.
Burnham has 2 years max, probably 18 months to show some sign of change before an election. Losing a shit and tie, wearing black jeans doesn't mean a thing without results. The public ignore statistics. They see through their eyes. The spin doctors of yesteryear need to be sacked, giving me graphs on "x" is pointless, within second 1000's are rubbishing them.
Migrants in hotels down- because i see them in housing
NHS waiting lists down, because they are cancelling your slot in the waiting list because you never replied to a mail you never received.
No more taxes....I'll say no more
There needs to be tangible results and I can not discount the last 2 years.
The tories need to work out are they Reform light or what tories used to be before Boris and Cameron made them liberals. Restore can keep to the extremes like the socialist and communist parties on the other side.
I am a center left/right voter, who doesn't care about Palestine/Israel (no side taken), Just stop oil or this version of global warming. I am still homeless

Exactly, he's another weirdo. He's a Tony Blair fan one minute, Corbyn the next. I suppose he'll have more money and time on his hands for his weekly eyebrow waxing/trimming visits and facials.

I think your pretty much the average voter by what you've said here. Burnham will buy Labour a bit of time but realistically he has no mandate so his performance is going to have to be excellent just to give labour a chance.
Spin is ruining the country. We are constantly told nothing to see here by politicians and the media, when we all have eyes. Starmer cannot help himself his statements this morning are delusional

I totally get if you don't like him or his party, that's fine - we all have different opinions.
But is a career politician such a bad thing? Starmer and Sunak were not career politicians but failed. Whereas Thatcher and Blair were career politicians, but were two very successful PMs - even though I thought Thatcher did much damage and others would say the same about Blair I'm sure.
I am biased not only because of my Labour connection but I also have a relationship with Andy and have worked for him, should point that out.
I really believe it is now inevitable he becomes PM. I doubt it would mean a general election unless polling dramatically improves. So who would the public prefer - Andy or Starmer? I strongly believe it would be Andy. Just one constituency, but his win on Thursday was bigger than even we expected.

Burnham for Starmer, like changing your shirt, when you’ve shat yourself.
As Pat Macfadden said, all Labour want to do, is raise more taxes, to pay more benefits. They’ll prioritise economic migrants, the public sector and the benefits class. They have long since turned their backs on real working class people.

Waiting on the Burnhams wife scandal .
It seems to me Labour are deeply corrupt.

The by election wasn't a true by election.
It was a boot Starmer out .
If it had been out of Manchester he would have lost
