The Civil court ruled that Nantes were not at fault in relation to the flight - adding that Cardiff did not suffer reputational damages.
The ruling also stated that the ruling stated that Nantes suffered moral damage - with Cardiff ordered to pay €300,000 moral damages and €480,000 in legal fees . Total €780,000.

Can Cardiff sue Tan for reputational and moral damage

I wish we could

Assumed this would be the decision. Tan was always clutching at straws with this. Hope to God he puts this to bed now so we can move on and allow BBM and this team to try and restore some pride back into this club.
For the final time...RIP Emiliano, gone but not forgotten.

That is vomit inducing. Didn’t he declare himself bankrupt too?

Worst possible result for the club.
The only way Tan can now get back even a fraction of his losses is by the team getting back to the Premier League.
However there will definitely be no money made available to BBM to help him do that. Tan will say that BBM has done it once with youngsters and no money so he can do it again.
BBM will need to put his big boy pants on and tell Tan to back him or shove it up his arse. BBM can walk away with his reputation enhanced from this season and should have little difficulty in getting employment elsewhere.
Or he can go along with Tan and risk the sack if we're not 10 points clear at the top of the Championship by the end of October.
Then Tan will replace him with the next Bulut, or Riza or Dean Whitehead whoever tells the tw*t what he wants to hear.
I'm afraid this decision could have very bad consequences for us.

Tan needs to leave this Summer
And don’t forget his family want him to leave

We will be in administration within two years I fear!

Where have all the posters gone who argued for Tan 7 yrs and talked shite ?
As usual disappeared

I can see why Tan is pissed off Mckay was definitely dodgy and almost certainly was acting on Nantes behalf but how on earth did he think he'd be able to prove any of that in court.
Ultimately as soon as he signed for us Sala should have been insured, that's down to Tan and the clowns he's employed at the club.
Who knows what Tans reaction to this will be fingers crossed it'll spur him on to sell up and move on but nothing has done that so far

Yeap good post and may turn out to be true, i'm now hoping the dictator leaves the club at the end of the season. There are still interesting parties willing to buy and take us forward, let's hope this time he sells up.

The man (Mackay) has no moral compass, no compassion, and no dignity; perfect credentials for a football parasite!

I know it's popular to slate Tan at every opportunity and I detest him as much as anyone from the rebrand.
However, it's the French courts, so of course they're not going to favour us. I think they've lied when they've said there's no connection with Nantes and the McKay's. Nantes should know the agents who represent their own players and the evidence is there with the texts from McKay arranging the flight.
I wonder what Tan will do next? You're all slating him, but I think he's still right to take this all the way.
It wasn't our club's fault!

Assumed????
There was a lot of ‘
assumption’ across the board from both sides of the argument, as
no one genuinely
knew 100% which way it would go, although one or two were consistent in the lie belief it would not succeed and have been proven correct
I don’t believe many were particularly ‘
for Tan’, more a case of believing there was ‘
a case for FC Nantes to answer’ in the hope that somehow it would see the end of a sad saga and benefit Cardiff City FC in some way at the same time!
For me, it’s done now, and despite FC Nantes disgraceful actions (particularly towards the Sala family) Tan needs to accept he’s lost (as someone else said ‘
again’) and let Emiliano Sala rest in peace!

And the fact that we’re the only club to have supported the Sala family financially despite him not being our player.

Very embarrassing for us as a club too.
Had the radio on earlier and it was the third main story.
Thankfully the car compensation and another BBC DJ being in trouble kept us off the top spot.
But still very embarrassing which millions will hear about.

Not sure who this is directed at but I certainly argued throughout that Tan was right to take this action as there was an arguable case.
The fact that Tan got £12m out of a company who agreed there was enough merit to give him that sort of money just on legal advice would seem to back that up.
I get the feeling that Tan will appeal but now is the time to stop in my opinion.
Hopefully, Nantes FC will now believe that now is the time to contribute financially to the fund set up to support the Sala family that we paid into despite Sala not being our player. Surely that’s the right thing for them to do as he was their player ?
But I do agree that Tan should have sold us 2 years ago and it’s time for a change.
I don’t think that Tan wants to throw any more money at us and we’re probably back to the position of the early 2000s where we have to sell players to generate money for the manager.
Lawlor will be gone in the summer and I firmly believe that giving him, Colwill, Ashford, etc., long contracts is just a way of increasing their transfer fees.

Yet the French court have ruled that Cardiff City did not suffer "reputational damage".
Feels like the club's name has been dragged through the mud over this sorry affair and whilst it's true that much of it is self inflicted that ruling is clearly a load of bollocks.

Watch how Tan drags this cases elsewhere.
Tue Mar 31, 2026 12:25 am
Tan could always look to pursue the case further via Le Cour de Cassation - French Supreme Court - should he feel the verdict has grounds for appeal.
That’s his decision now.
I could see Tan seek to pursue.

The Lawyers Capitol Law have been doing this for 7 Yrs for Tan and their bill alone will run in to £millions

Every Court in Europe Went against Tan and right so.
Tan even at one stage said Sala was not ours, that was low.
So Tan then decided a Civil action as he had done all his appeals etc
Just look and read:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=204226Sala and Our Clubs Name has been Dragged through the dirt.

This is the second legal defeat in the last 2 yrs alone, suffered by the club following the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) confirming that Emiliano Sala was Cardiff City's player.
It now appears that it will take a few weeks for Vincent Tan to decide if it will lodge an ( if they allow it ) appeal against the decision.

I think he messed up by denying that Sala was ever signed when there is a picture of him signing the contract with choo
And I don't think they can prove Mckay was working on behalf of Nantes when the flight was arranged as it was all arranged after the deal was done, so City probably knew more about that flight than Nantes did
It doesn't help that Warnock was Mckays buddy and had worked with him many times before either
I think Tan needs to accept defeat on this one and move on

TAN HAS LOST TO FIFA , COURT OF ABRITATION AND THE SUPREME COURT AND NOW THE CIVIL COURTS:
