Re: Even Now look at Salech, been out injured since Jan 2026

Three home games in a row without scoring

Top Spot lost

Out of last 21pts since we’ve been sussed out only 8pts

No Top scorer

Gambled with Kellyman as our Striker

BBM won’t start Robinson, as he sees he’s not good enough.

The other Strikers can’t score

Also even if we had brought someone in, it does not mean that we would have won the league or had better results than we had now, it's all conjecture.

What if we'd brough in another Gary Madine, or the player we brought in got injured.

We're 2nd in the league on the verge of promotion with lots of local youngsters playing and still people are disgruntled!!

I don't understand it.

Well said, 100% spot on.

Then robbo could leave in the summer and we already have the striker on our books

Thing is we will have to buy a striker in the summer regardless and I doubt we will sign one like tolaj for that price so we could end up having to spend another 3-4m this summer

Not all January signings are panic buys

Are we going up? Yes or no?

If it's yes, then we got the window spot on.

As for Tolaj, Plymouth paid that in the summer and his value has gone up since then. Just like Salech's value has gone up since we signed him.

Doesn't matter anyway because he'd already played for Port Vale this season and a player can only play for two different teams in a season.

Completely ignored what i said then

I said we will need to buy a striker in the summer regardless because I believe Robinson will be leaving

I said Tolaj would be a decent signing even for a championship club and at that price he would be a bargain but even if Plymouth fail to go up and we try to sign him then, his value would have gone up

If we went for him at say 3-4m we would be wondering why we didn't just get him in the last window for a fraction of the price

Look at the goals he's scored this season and that was at struggling clubs
If he was playing in our system he'd probably would've doubled his tally

I know the club probably weren't even looking at him in Jan when Plymouth signed him but my point is we should have

Plymouth didnt sign him in January - see below:-

Plymouth Argyle
On 22 August 2025, Tolaj was signed by League One rivals Plymouth Argyle on a four-year deal after they activated a "substantial release clause" in his Vale contract.[50] This fee was reported to be £1.2 million.

And us who said we didn't need cover were right, because we're going up.

All a new striker would have been is a panic buy to try and win the league and the money that would cost isn't worth it just for the title as we were likely to be promoted, which was always the ultimate aim.

We where good points ahead but let the title slip now we are 7 points behind lincoln , we have slipped up no question with a lack of goals there is no arguing with that fact I cannot believe your saying we would have done no better with a striker, ned that's been very blinkered and pig headed if you don' t mind me saying .
So if salec happens to get injured again either another lengthy period we do not bother signing a striker for next season as we don' t need full stop? And if am not talking about the time of year we sign and why you keep repeating the same line about signing a striker we could have loaned a striker like a lot of clubs do till the end of the season as "COVER".

May have got away with it against very poor sides but when we played decent teams and we had no striker on the pitch we struggled

Totally agree.

But they dont always have to be better than us league position wise either.
Plymouth proved that.
Teams that we can comfortably open up then it makes no difference .
But those that sit back or run at us then sure he is missed.
As either of the above have to deal with the fact he will run at their midfield and more important cause their defence big issues.

It seems whenever a player signs a contract extension, they get injured and out for a longtime.

We don't seem to have an answer to Select being injured, no impact when Robinson came on against Blackpool.

Let's just get auto promotion, playoffs are a lottery... :ayatollah:

100% we have missed Salech, and I also believe we should have signed a striker in January.
