I have to admit I was a bit annoyed with him after the Barnsley game and said I'd rather Joel in the team as you know what your going to get but he was outstanding today and well done to him, hope he continues, definitely the potential of a great player, the ability is there just decision making at times but well done Rubin.

I think it's disrespectful to suggest he can only be a good player against lower half league one teams.
He has plenty of time to improve as a team player.
Of course, other than his unfortunate injury, he has had an excellent influential season for many of the matches he has been involved in.
I see no reason why he shouldn't prove himself as a very good Championship player next srason, in what I hope would be a much stronger and faster Bluebirds team than we had in recent seasons.
It's never easy for anyone playing in a struggling team, as in recent years, but hopefully under BBM we can make an impression at a higher level.
I look forward to Rubin being central to that.

You may be right but I can’t see it. He’s hardly a kid he’s played 161 times mostly in the championship. Doesn’t even get in the Welsh squad with out injuries to other players. As someone posted the other day showing our poor our results are against the top 6. These are the teams you expect our talisman and captain to step up and lead our team to victory.
No one’s come in with any worth while bids for him.

Maybe he is a late developer. Hope he proves me wrong but my head just doesn’t see it as much as my heart does.

We all hope he proves you wrong for the sake of our football club.
But in all honesty I feel he has proved himself as a top player for us this season and like one or two others today, I think he could have the ability to continue at this level into the Championship under this manager who appears also to believe in him.

He can only play who’s in front of him. Like Murphy we will see next season if they are the real deal. We are so far superior than every team in this league outside match days, where only one team is.

Need to use him sensibly so as not to pressurise him and also to ease him back

Half here , half there in games we are coasting etc

Spot on, great performance from him today, hopefully he plays that well every week, we all know the quality is there. The far more frustrating thing is he gets MOTM votes and people bigging him up regardless of his actual performance

We can’t benchmark him when we playing at a much lower level. Next year he will get his 150th chance to prove he’s good enough. I like to say say I wait in anticipation but I am not confident it will be any different.

It’s not all positive though is it?

How many shots yesterday? How many goals? If it comes to goals difference or goals scored this could really cost us.

If only we had got a striker in January. Those millions could have been the difference between top and second.

You are correct maccy. I didn’t look at this. I’m starting to think now we really should have spent millions to secure promotion. We had 30 shots yesterday and only scored 4. We really are looking disaster in the eyes here.
I’m man enough to admit I was wrong we really really should have secured a striker in January at inflated prices. They were correct the majority who said it would cost us, I’m just to late to the party again. Lol.

My personal opinion on him is he’s always had that flair and quick flick intelligence in his locker, quick feet to beat a man and lay the ball off.

What was missing last season that has been nice to see this year is his passing, long passes, and finishing are now far more consistent.

In the Championship he was a bit part player, he never had long runs of games like he’s had. There’s been injuries or just unfitness, but he seems so driven under BBM so long may that continue.

No it's not all positive we should of spent millions for 1st place. Going up as 2nd is nowhere near as profitable. If only the board listened to you.
Gutted we finished 2nd ....... oh wait is the season over yet?

There is a premier league player in Colwill.

First touch, half turn, close control and ability to drive past players can be premier league.

If the rest follows he won’t be playing for us.

Enjoy him while we can.

The lad isn't even 24 years of age yet and you still get people writing him off at a higher level.
In his earlier years he's often shown plenty of promise without fulfilling his potential.
Playing a part of a struggling team in recent seasons hasn't helped.
I still think the best is yet to come.

Well he seems to have won Worcester over the last few games he's played

But no one in this squad or the coach has proved they are up to the championship yet so we will have to wait till next season for that but I'd be more worried about other players than Rubin

I have never questioned the quality he has. What I've said is I'm often so critical of him because I know he can do so much better.

For a long time his decision making and work rate haven't been good enough. Such as occasions when he tries fancy tricks on the halfway line which have resulted in a counter attack for the opponents.

But these last few games, he's worked hard and has made good decisions on the pitch. He has that flash of quality at the end too.

But my criticism has never been about his ability, more what he does with that ability in games.

That's fair and you're not alone on that even I criticised him a lot last season because he always tried to take 3 players on rather than just pass and would lose the ball cheaply

But I said before Rubin is a special case because he's never been loaned out(at least I can't remember him ever going out) which is vital for the young players to get match experience at professional level

He's always been stuck in this limbo where the coach wouldn't loan him out but wouldn't keep him in the match day squad either

The other players have been either loaned out for experience or have been given a real run in the team and under a good coach this season

Rubin only really started getting a run of games under Riza and Riza was tinkering with him in the team too much and didn't know Rubins strenghs

I just feel like now he has a coach who believes in him and knows how to utilise him properly
we are finally seeing the player he can be and I'm shocked how much he's come along this season

I know it's league one but you can only play what is in front of you so if we go up (which I'm 99.9% sure we will) we will see how far he has really come
But like I said the whole squad and coach have to prove they belong in the championship next season not just Rubin
