Like other people have said, the good start will actually hurt us in the long run. Tan will think we don't need anyone but our squad doesn't have any contingency at all.

How do you work that out? We’re top of the league!

We all accept we need players urgently, but to say (quote) “other teams are way ahead of us” is plain wrong! That can only be assessed AFTER the window closes and judgement is made on who we have/haven’t signed

I appreciate you are a deliberate ‘glass half empty’ poster, but BBM appears to know his players, and as I said, we’re top of the league, so be a little patient and see what occurs, eh? :ayatollah:

Surely Tan isn’t stupid enough to realise that we just need 3-4 quality players (even if some are loans) to push on rather than fall away if we have injuries or suspensions. Hopefully he was just waiting to see how we started but who knows with him!!
I think we need a seasoned centre back, a left back, a winger and a striker with some pace.

He would have to be very stupid not to back the Manager after the start Barry-Murphy has made, he has a fortune riding on promotion, and he could laugh at the buyers trying to get his pants down and buy the club cheaper.

Surely Vincent Tan or Dalman wouldn't be that stupid. Anyone reading this board for him, make sure you show him and Dalman this thread.

I'm with you all the way 1962.

We could even drop the centre back if Daland stays...see we aint even being greedy or unrealistic as fans, we're just being sensible and reasonable (too words that don't seem to make it into Tans vocab range).

Cheers Maloby
Jury still out on Daaland for me mate I’d rather a no nonsense CB like Morrison or Purse (the player) but my fear is that BBM may look at whether they can play in the first instance rather than whether they can defend.

Why fear? That's what we have at the moment, and it's working well. I was thinking the same as you, but Barry-Murphy is changing my thoughts on what the team needs.

He's won over my full trust now, he knows what we need and he's said he will only sign players that will improve the team, hes looking for three or four starters, that won't be easy to get.

They look to have struck gold(which feels like complete luck, considering their previous failings) with BBM and CCFC now have a real chance to have an incredibly successful season.

BBM highlighted the potential of this squad from day one as his reason for taking this opportunity on. Practically everything BBM has touched so far has turned to gold, integrated youth into a re-energised squad, and has them playing excellently. What more evidence do the board need to back him by investing in those 3 or 4 quality additions that he's highlighting? (I'm not in board meetings, maybe there is a willingness to spend on talent and it really does come down to availability.. but only targeting loans would suggest a lack of investment)

It would be the biggest own goal of the Tan era if having brought BBM to the club, we lost him next year to upper championship/ lower premier league who simply were willing to back him to invest in his football ideology.

2 incentives for current investment: 1. Turning potential into a serious promotion charge & 2. BBM's long term future at the club when the higher leagues begin sacking their managers.

Fully agree, great post

And they are not ahead of us in the League even though they've bought their players, we are and are about to strengthen.

I doubt we'd all be so concerned about whether we'll get any more players in in this transfer window if it wasn't for the fact that most of us know our owner likes to do things on the cheap, plus his obvious lack of football knowledge. We also have the two stooges who tend to talk in riddles and say things that they feel we want to hear rather than the truth.
Tan now probably thinks we'll walk the league with the current squad and reinforcements are not required.
We're right to be concerned as this must be one of the worst run clubs in the EFL.
Hope we get some reinforcements in but I'm not holding my breath due to previous seasons being disappointing with this current regime.

Tan or bbm because he was to choosey I'm not confidence either way if we let daland go and sign no one we are in trouble simples as that we paid 3 point 5 million for daland don't think he's really been given a chance even under riza or am I wrong and he's not worth that?

He's not being backed to date clearly as for daland well bbm has not said he don't want to keep him he's being moved out because the clowns above want him gone off the wages bill when asked about him he said he does not know what's going on with daland and let's be honest bbm has said he's had targets days after coming here which I'm sure would be here by now even if it was 3 of them but they are not arsed above to date.

My throughts are bbm has been told what he can have this or that to sweet talk him here and they will make him look daft if we don't get these 3 or 4 quality players he keeps saying. It's aboves fault if they don't sign not his that's for sure. Although I won't class some unknown youngster or two on loan as quality really if that's what there calling quality and it does happen. We need 3 or 4 experienced players to go up this season because if we get nobody like that well people will be blaming BBM if we don't go up even if the whoppers above don't back him thats how daft football has become. There's no better time currently in my opinion as we are top :bluescarf:

I think desbluebird was referring to team well ahead of us in the transfer department unless I read it wrong.

Sam,

It was Dalman aka Boris Johnson, Spin and Bullshit as usual

Always the same can’t stand him and the rest of the board
