If/when we buy a new left winger, then drop Bagan back to left back and bench 1 of the defenders (whoever is underperforming). Actually think Joe B is a decent threat going forwards and is more than capable of getting goals.

A CB at LB? LB as a winger? King who is a 6 play 8?

We don’t play slow defensive football anymore.

King was outstanding yesterday. The only reason I would keep Wintle for 1st game is due to he's a older head and more experienced etc. But would have no issues bringing King in

Sorry Ned for me Wintle has looked average against average opposition need a new 6 with leadership qualities but for now him or King.

That's what I would go with however looking at that defence on paper gives me nightmares.

Everyone seems to be raving about Lawlor and Kpakio fair enough I haven't seen enough of them yet to be convinced.

The rest of the defence are average and that's being kind. We desperately need to strengthen we can't be starting games needing 2-3 goals to win.

The positive is are forward players are scoring goals. BBM has to find a way to get Salech and Robbo in the team together they will tear this league up.

Hopefully this new GK is better than the two we have as neither are good enough to hold down the position.

I wouldn’t put Turnbull or Robertson as holding players. Not a midfield that will have balance and control.

Wintle or King as 6 options.

Turnbull, Colwill, Robertson all better in front as the 8’s.

I think it’s unfair to typecast Joe Bagan as just a left back. He’s great when getting forward and either putting in quality crosses for Salech or going for goal himself.

All the quality traits of a modern day fullback. I wouldn’t worsen the defence by having a player who can’t do this at LB (Daland).

Normally I would agree but you'd think most teams in this league will sit in against us especially at home so I don't think there's much need for a holding midfielder we need creativity.

I expect Chambers is the ideal candidate due to his experience.

No way would I start willock....

Eli king I thought was superb yesterday so would start for me

King over Wintle all day, he was impressive against NC fair play to him. Wintle slow and got forced of the ball every time. Maybe good for last 10 minutes or so but not a starter for me. :bluebird:

Re: Team for Peterborough

Tanner all day for pace and desire, Wilcox just wants to prance around in circles going no where his ability to lose or give the ball away is astonishing.

If all fit this:
Alnwick
Kpakio Fish Lawlor Bagan
Robertson Turnbull
Colwill
Davies Salech Robinson

Don’t get the narrative of no real 6 in people’s midfield.

Robertson, Turnbull and Colwill are better further up or belong transition. You need someone to break up play and help move the team into attack.

Re: Team for Peterborough

Mon Jul 28, 2025 10:22 pm

I don't think you need a set 6 as rigid positions are a thing of the past.

I agree you need the combination of the 3 to give the balance but unfortunately I don't think we have a Gunnerson type player in the squad. As mad as it sounds Colwill has looked the most dominating in preseason.

I have no issue with swapping Turnbull with Wintle or King

Re: Team for Peterborough

Mon Jul 28, 2025 10:25 pm

Robertson, Turnbull & Colwill were our midfield 3 against Plymouth at home last season and that didn't go too badly :ayatollah:

I'd go with that, but Davies is injured, so Tanner.

Re: Team for Peterborough

I've gone for
Hovarth
Kpakio. Fish. Lawlor began
Chambers

Ashford wintle rubin
Robinson. Selech

Don't think new keeper will be signed in time to play reasons for hovarth

Re: Team for Peterborough

Chambers excused I'd play darland and midfield defence in front of back four if fit if not colwil jr

That's the team I'd pick but I'd think Robertson will be out with the gash he got Saturday so King or wintle next to turnbull I'll go with Wintle for that bit of extra experience

Who wore number 20 against Notts County? He was awful and cannot start

Re: Team for Peterborough

Tue Jul 29, 2025 2:08 pm

I could make a case for a number of players / combinations in the attacking areas, but feel that we are REALLY short of options in defence for this game.

It would appear the favoured back 4 is -
Kpakio
Lawlor
Fish
Bagan

Whilst individually these guys have qualities and potential the -
1. Lack of senior games / experience
2. Lack of natural communication
3. Cohesion (rarely played together)

Along with adapting to a new style with a new keeper behind them, causes me real concern - thoughts?
