If the consortium show positive vibes about the rebuild of our club, I think the fans should get fully behind their bid, putting even more pressure on Tan to sell.

This could be reflected in further protests by the fans at the stadium in the early matches next season.

A BIT LATE GLEN

Gareth Bale is leading a consortium that has made an offer to buy Cardiff City.

By Glen Williams

The group fronted by the former Wales captain are understood to have sent a letter of intent to current Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan last month, outlining their eagerness to buy the club. It's believed financial figures were included, but the initial proposal has been rejected.

The bid, first reported by The Athletic on Friday evening, comes days after a Bale-led US consortium were linked with interest in acquiring Plymouth Argyle. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community

It's understood Cardiff bosses are not currently expecting a renewed offer for the club, although things could change.

Re: CONSORTIUM BY GARETH BALE APPROACHED CARDIFF

The sources include the NYT and The Athletic, the latter of which is the best sports news outlet and credible.

It's now been picked up by WOL too this minute.

And if there is indeed truth in this as it would certainly appear, both Ramsey and Bellamy would have told Bale and the consortium everything about potential and how bad things are. They could well be part of any consortium and would be an asset. And I could see MD in there too.

At some point Tan will realise that he's not going to get what is now getting nearer to £300m back. That figure represents half his current net worth and you'd think that at some point, he or his family will just accept a fair offer from, and in his own words, a suitable new owner.

And this option would be potentially more than suitable if true and by some miracle Tan does a deal.

Allan,

I reported on here months ago.

Jonny told me about Americans who were really interested in our club, so he put it forward and tried to help us, they were blanked.

But now they are back in as Tan wants out and is prepared to do a deal.

I will say it again.

David Ornstein is no bullshitter, everything he reports is bang on the money.

If he says it, it's true.

BBC running it now, saying the bid was in May says not currently interested in selling . I do wonder if Tan is waiting for sala case. If so we’ll be stuck with him for years

Re: CONSORTIUM BY GARETH BALE APPROACHED CARDIFF

As I posted elsewhere earlier today, if Tan wanted to take us to the EPL and stay there, it would cost him around £215 m and that's only if he did it back to back.

I don't think he has that level of commitment - so now it's the time to sell and get what he can

I said the same a couple of weeks ago but it was pointed out that Tan can have the Sala case as terms of the sale.

Tan wants out, but he is a bitter man who holds grudges.

People need to take action now.

Ornstein is so reliable that this is a UK wide story.

If you want a new owner, speak up.

Regardless of how BBM does, even if he wins the league, we must put pressure on Tan to sell.

Genuine question and I apologise if I’ve missed something obvious but who’s Jonny Owen?

On the positive side if this happens then on the face of it it would be fantastic. Can you imagine the feel good factor, the ST and attendance increase and the buzz it would provide? Party time!

As far as Bale is concerned I would imagine that he is just the face of the consortium and would have a very small financial interest.

On the negative side I just can’t see Tan selling as he seems delusional with the price he’s asking.

Jonny Owen is from Cardiff and an actor, doesn't support us but has contacts.

He's married to Vicki McClure from Line of Duty.

Did some sort of song for one of our cup finals.

But he's a Forest fan.

Thanks annis a report I've just read says consortium wanted to buy controlling interest in club but tan said wasn't selling! My reading of this is tan expects us to be promoted and he wants the adulation from fans? but all I can see is protests if he turns up for the promotion game if it happens
This consortium i presume as nothing to do with bale...

Ned I have handed my banner to richy who is stashing it at his mums in cardiff,
if I cannot attend a protest for whatever reason richy or someone else can use it,
and I thought it was more use to the protest group if it can be picked up in cardiff as I live 3 hours away.

Forgot to mention she was in that, was brilliant.

Slightly off topic but Line of Duty is one of the best shows the BBC have done in the last 15 years.
