Im a big DJ fan and am proud we have the longest serving manager in the league, i know he has been knocked for playing a 4-4-2 all the time and having no plan 'B', but his hands have been tied in terms of signing recognised player till this year. All the turmoil and unhappiness at our club over the past 5 years he has been constant, he is well reguarded by most of the other managers in all the leagues. I recently read his book on hols and after that respect him a lot more, (sorry annis havent got around to reading any of your books yet!) he seems a hard man who takes no shit off players, he is straight talking in interviews and is always fair. I know yo said annis he is on a good wage with perks, but its probably average for this league or am i wrong?? :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think we are playing average at the moment and have been lucky with the fixtures so far.

Indeed we have won games when playing badly but look who they were against, Millwall, Hull and bottom of the table Bristol City. I wonder what the scores would have been if it was QPR, Norwich or say Swansea? Come to think of it who have we played in the top half?

I'm not getting carried away because I'm not comfortable with the team and the performances it has produced. Bellamy second half at Barnsley is perhaps the only bit of play lately that has encouraged me. That showed me we have the ability to go ona good run. Lets hope it happens whebn we start playing the top half teams.

Annis, do you honestly think cardiff city were in the right position to go up to the premier league during the last 5 years~? of course not- for most of his rein we have been in a shabby old stadium with little or no funds and struggled with alot of injuries at critical stages, ie last season for one and been on the verge of administration on several occassions. Dave Jones is the best manager this club has had annis without a doubt. we have improved every season and he has not just been a manager but also a builder, he along with others have built a very good squad, got the club alot of money by buying cheap players and selling them for millions, there is alot we have to thank him for, As for his wage annis, if jay bothroyd can earn what he does and craig bellamy then i think our LEADER davey jones deserves his 800 grand a year.
As for bottling it on the big stage??? did we bottle it against barnsley in the fa cup semi final? NO......Did we bottle it against swansea at home last year? NO.... Did we bottle the play offs...NO... in the final we were beaten by a good side who had fate on their side and a fully fit squad where if we had kept bothroyd i have no doubt we would have won that final.
Look what Dj has done with bothroyd.. hes a tremendous talent under dave.

I do think we will be there or there about on Our 6th year of trying as this Division, is at its Weakest ever and Our First 11 are the best out there in my opinion, But please REMIND YOURSELVES about the last 5 years and Don't get carried away by thinking we will Definately go up.

On the other hand, If Bells plays at least 25 games for us this Season, then DJ should Quit football if We Fail.
The Major plus side for me, was seeing City come back from 2 nil down v Bristol City and not only beat them, but should of hammered them, That to me shows DJ has finally got a team together that hopefully will REALLY BATTLE NO MATTER WHAT, In the past, We have failed in that Dept.
Also a Sign of a Good team is when you Win after playing Badly, Hull and Millwall were games We Won playing Badly.

Honest Opinions Please about how we will Really do This Season. :ayatollah:

ONWARDS and UPWARDS :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Well said mate...................we have seen it all,and I reckon we should be in the Prem by now.Its frustrating for all of us,but now.....with Vince Tan behind us instead of the Riddler,I think our time is due ! :ayatollah:

In an ideal world yeah I agree but we don't have an ideal world in respect of money and have no reserve team. Who are we going to get who are better than what we have as cover at the mo.

We have 2 good Championship goalies, in a better place than most. 4 centre backs of championship quality, 4 full backs (5 if you count Blake), 4 or 5 centre midfielders and Keogh as back up for Jay. Our squad is better than it has ever been in my opinion. We lost 5 key players recently and still did ok.

For stickywicket to say we need another full back and a keeper is daft cos we've got so many full backs we won't know what to do with them all. And Marshall is clearly good enough to get us to 4th place at the least.

Centre back, Jay substitute (Steve Thompson being the obvious one for me) and Oli's substitute. I'd let Rae and Comminges and Quinn go in JAnuary as well if we could get over £100k for any one of them (of course not miguel!)

During the last 5 seasons only 1 team has failed to gain automatic promotion having won 23 points from the first 11 games, that club was Cardiff City, so it is absolutely right we should not get carried away at this moment.

In the Championship 80 points would normally get you automatic promotion and on that basis we need another 19 wins from our remaining 35 games to achieve that. If we can keep our big players injury and suspension free I really believe we will do it this season.

However we all know that under DJ we have always had poor runs where we lose 2 or 3 games on the trott and with our back 4 at the moment I can see this happening this season.

I am not a big DJ fan and I was really disappointed by the way he treated Adam Matthews after the Ipswich game, I did wonder how he would deal with Lee Naylor after Saturday given that he allowed Caulker to run around him for a free header for the first goal and then conceded a corner with a weak header from which they scored the second.

No public talk about not having time to molly coddle players this time but then again Naylor is one of his favourites, he has to be after his performances in the last 3 home games, why else would he still be in the team.

Thats our biggest problem in my opinion DJ and the different standards he applies when dealing with players, does it have an effect, has it had an effect in the past and will it have an effect in the future.

I don't care about January transfer windows as he already has at his disposal the most expensive first team squad in the history of this football club, so why should the board spend more money afterall we still have 8 short term loans to use.

One thing is certain if we fail to get promoted this season he will go and I for one will lose no sleep over him going. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think it all hinges on our posiition at the turn of the year. If we are still up there in the top 3 then I believe VT will release funds for squad strengthening. If however we have slipped a few places then I believe that no money will be forthcoming and DJ will be out at the end of the season.

people need to take a chill pill when it comes to the were going up hype, yes it is very do able and on paper is very likely.but nothing is a sure thing in this league and with our club. im just enjoying being so competitive its such i high level yes the premier league is the ultimate goal but dont just base all your support on the prospect of going up just enjoy the time we have being where we are because i remember when i was young being stood in the bob bank when we were in the old division 3 playing teams like oldham and leyton orient.

everything about the club has come along in leaps and bounds and is massive progress,i wouldnt be happy going up just to be losing 6-0 on a regular basis because our defence struggles to catch a cold let alone an attacking striker.

like everybody else i want to be in the premiership but i want the team i love to be able to be in a position to put up a fighting chance of surviving in the premiership and not crash and burn after a season.

If we sort our defence we will go up.

Attacking wise we are the best in the division, our centre backs though could really cost us come the end of the season
