Welsh Assembly governs all your schools, highways, health services, culture, housing ...... i could go on.
I'd also rather that they had more power, power over our Police, Justice etc - but that is still run by Westminster.
The question for me is what the f**k does the secretary for state for Wales ( a Tory bint from England) do for us and what the f**k do most of that shower of shit in Westminster do for us.
I'd rather have people who live in the same community as us govern us, at least then you can have a say or at least key their cars.
I'd rather have a Welsh Labour / Plaid Cymru coalition, than Cameron and his Tory twats govern over us (and no I'm not a New Labour supporter).
You lot seem to have forgotten that the cunts in Government in Westminster now are the ones that made Wales one of the most Welfare dependant countries in Europe by destroying our industries and jobs, just because they didn't like the power of the Unions in working class communities.
Good post mate. Seems most on here are suffering from Conquered Nation Syndrome. We've been ruled by the English for hundreds of years yet find ourselves top of the league for things like unemployment, poor health and poor housing stock. Why is this? Could it be because we are just a shit Race, far inferior to our friends from over the border?? No, of course not....it's because a London based government will always favour its own. Who do you think cares more about Wales and its problems.....MPs in London or AMs in Cardiff?? The main problem is that Cardiff has no real power to bring about meaningful change. If the Assembly had real powers they would have a better chance of making Wales a better place to live in.
Have more pride in Wales and more confidence in our ability to make Wales a better place without having to rely upon others. Below is an explanation of why we think in the way we do.

They waste millions of pounds. Look at the air link from Anglesey to Cardiff millions of pounds in subsidies have been given to tiny airlines to operate this service which caters mainly for AMs and their staff. So far three airlines that have operated this route have taken the subsidy then gone skint. It's a bloody joke no airline will operate the route without a subsidy because it's not feasible so if it can never make money why should we pay for the WAG travel arrangements.
Recently it was announced that WAG would stop all grants to foreign companies to set up operations in Weles as far too many again had taken the cash then ran taking their subsidised machinery with them, NEG being a prime example who threw hundreds on the dole queue. Guess what though? They have now backtracked on this new policy and it is becoming clear that no grants will be given to Welsh companies which is stupid as Welsh companies would be more likely to stay here.
Sir Terry Matthews has offered WAG to set up a boot camp for entrepenaurs to help new companies set up new business ventures in Wales but the WAG has ignored this, even though Sir Terry has done the same thing in British Columbia, Canada with great success with the backing of the Canadian Government.
Recently a WAG report was leaked. This report was highly critical of the Welsh Health Service and the way it is being run by the WAG. This was a report that was commissioned by the WAG and the Health Minister Edwina Hart is now saying it is not a proper report, if this is the case why the hell is she asking for the report which has cost a bloody fortune. This is the woman that wants to curb smoking everywhere and impose minimum pricing on alcohol to improve the health of the Welsh nation yet she herself has ate all the pies and waddles when she walks because of her size. Obesity which is a contributor to diabetes costs the NHS more than smoking but she doesn't mention this, well she wouldn't would she !!!
So in my opinion the WAG is another tier of government that just costs us money, what other organisation would have hundreds working for a personnel department. Hospital board directors that they appointed have lost their jobs in a regional shake up many of which are on more that £100,000 but they are not being laid off as WAG says it would cost too much so they are being paid full wages for 10 yrs to do nothing !! When the media questioned WAG about this they said these talented people would drop into new positions when they become available.
It's a bloody joke!!!

1. Is it really worth spending all that money on a democratic Welsh Assembly? Before it came along, most of the major decisions about Wales were made by a small number of un-elected (but accountable) bureaucrats in the old Welsh Office. Like most organisations, they made some really crap decisions as well as some good ones. The Welsh Assembly does this as well, but costs considerably more to run.
2. Our NHS is now run separately from England. Both organisations have good and bad points but for mainly financial reasons have evolved separately. I work in the NHS and it is a pain in the backside trying to deal with the expectations and needs of people who move across the border from one 'country' to the other because of the different services. Goodness knows what it is like for Gps in Chepstow who are likely to have patients from both sides of the border.
3. If you go to Scotland, the majority of people there have the same attitude to their parliament.
4. If we have to have an Assembly, why not make it one big COUNTY, and do away with all these arbitrary unitary authorities? Then it might actually mean something.
(You can tell the Bluebirds didn't have a match this week when we are reduced to talking about politics!)

I agree with much of what you say regarding the examples of bad practice but let's be honest there are probably many examples of bad practice, inefficiency and waste within Westminster and all of the other governments in the world. But for me that shouldn't override the general principle that a Welsh Government is bound to have the interests of Wales and its people closer to its heart than a Westminster Government would. For instance, a Welsh Government would not have closed down Wales' only Passport Office with the loss of 300 jobs. I also agree with your point about much bigger Local Authorities and I'm in favour of an all-Wales Police Force in order to get the economies of scale.

1. The assembly only puts forward proposals.
2. The Government then analyze and implement a course of action.
3. The assembly then carry out the proposals wether it be accepted or declined.
4. Implementation of course of action.
Therefore they can only propose to parliament the case senario's, then it is down to being approved and implemented no matter what course of action is decided.
It is not the final decision of the Welsh assembly.
In which case it has NO REAL PURPOSE that the Welsh Office down the road couldn't deal with at less cost and with less self-interest of its non-voted members....
Spot on unfortunately

. Somebody mentioned the Hospital that is being built in Ystrad Mynach...I can tell you now this has been long over-due, I'll never forget watching my grandfather die, then the ambulance taking 30 mins to get there.
From Ystrad it takes at least 20-30 mins to hospitals in S.E wales, WITHOUT TRAFFIC! Including Merthyr, The Heath And The Royal Gwent.
Shit but finally being nipped in the bud.

Waste of Money. My local Assembly member now lives in Cardiff Bay, paid for by the taxpayer. The problem is getting people to vote. If the other 60% voted then we would know where we truly stand you. If you don't vote you can't complain.

For the money it costs very little apart from:
(1) forcing the Welsh language on people and barring non-Welsh speakers from many jobs and
(2) desiring an independent Wales.
Personally an independent Wales can't come fast enough for me! Then, as sure as night follows day, a Greek-style financial collapse will occur and the foolishness of these, "Little Walers," will be clearly seen.
Secondly, reading bilingual signs on/besides roads now takes twice as long - if the Welsh comes up first you've passed the sign by the time you get to the English. Please lets have some common sense and have the Welsh in a different colour and font at the very least.

Oh dear..
An interesting debate appears to have been hijacked by those CCMB infidels. Why don't these morons stick to terrorising Splott David and numerous conspiracy theories.
Someone once said that "history often repeats itself"presumably over millenia ratherthan 30 years or so.
In my brief little life I've experienced the socalists totally screwing up the United Kingdom then those evil torry bastards comming in to sort it out in their own little way getting the country back up running. The last person, as hard as it is for the brain dead fuckwits to understand was a woman. I truely cannot understand what happened to the Welsh mentality, how in the hell did a naturally intelligent indigenous race loose the plot so quickly? We had a saviour in Thatcher yet so many followed that northern useless communist tw*t Scargill.
As for the wag, complete and utter waste of time. Jobs for the socialists I'm afraid. One only has to look at the NEAG, north east assembly. Those that bothered to vote voted against it but they got one anyway, socialism in action.
The socialists have truely fucked Wales, not the right and the sooner you all wake up the sooner you'll the chip on your shoulders.
NOTE: The above is directed at the CCMB rejects, not the enlightened folk here that know what a days graft is like. I offer my apologise to the hard working men and women who contribute to this message board but those lefty cunts from over the road really piss me off. Have a browse at Mike's board this evening, full of spotty teenage twats and lefty pricks whose hardest job in their entire life involved asking daddy for a quid to buy the f*cking guardian.
