Re: Karlan Grant anyone

My view is when WBA gave him a six year deal it was in the hope that a big club would come in for him for a fat profit. There were a few moans and groans when we first signed Robinson but now is regarded very highly.Sometimes a player just don't fit into a club and one off poor season shouldn't put anyone off.If he was firing on all cylinders we wouldn't get anywhere near him and a change of scenery and a new Gaffer might just get him going again.Similar to when Kaba first arrived, many didn't think he was the answer but the rest is now history.

Be supprised at this, in a good way. Guessing we paying some money in Jan, unless we covering a massive chunk of his wages from the start of his loan

I just hope him and Rambo are on the plane to Portugal.

Sounds like its nearly there.

A real handful on his day, I'd have him here in a heartbeat and slowly our forward line is starting to look really exciting

Would be a good signing much better than watters

Sending Watters out on loan and bringing Grant would make sense in the squad for next season. Will bring right balance. Guess we will have to wait and see how this turns out.

The local media for West Brom are saying the deal is as good as done.

Season long loan with us paying the majority of the wages.

Another good signing I think.

If we get rid of Watters, Harris and Wickham and bring in Grant, Meite and Ugo then that would be very good business indeed.

I've always said that we don't have to sign massive names but just upgrade on who we have - which if the above comes true we certainly would have

BBC SPORT ARTICLE
Cardiff City are set to sign striker Karlan Grant on a season-long loan from Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The 25-year-old had been close to joining Swansea City during this year's January transfer window.

But that move fell through late on as West Brom could not find a replacement.

Cardiff cannot pay transfer fees for players because of an EFL embargo, but expect confirmation of Aaron Ramsey's arrival from Nice soon.

Grant has scored 24 goals in 101 appearances for West Brom, including five in 35 games in all competitions last season.

The former Charlton player joined the Baggies from Huddersfield Town in a £12m move in October 2020.

New Cardiff boss Erol Bulut has already completed moves for former Reading striker Yakou Meite, Canada striker Ike Ugbo and Greece centre-back Dimitrios Goutas.

Putting it mildly he's not really endeared himself to Baggies fans. One wag said that if he's loaned out to us, WBA should insist he plays in both the games against them next season. Ouch !!

They said exactly the same about Kipre last season. I remember that lot calling him a donkey etc. he turned out one of our best players.

Also, they were happy to let Robinson go, calling him weak. Again, he turned out to be an excellent signing.

Some players just don’t suit certain clubs, Grant was awesome for Huddersfield so there’s a player there for sure, it’s up to us to get the best out of him.

I’d welcome Grant with open arms. :bluebird:

I agree and a very good signing for us if he is back to his best. One more striker to come in!

Played a lot on the wing last season I think. Could be the reason for the drop in goal tally.

Ah that makes a lot more sense! My pal who is a WBA fan said he wasn't bothered about losing him though.

They were not bothered about losing Robinson :laughing5: I wonder how many goals he would have scored if he did not get injured?

What has happened to us...from lower league unknowns or bargain basement journeymen to all of a sudden signing quality players on decent wages. Feels weird in a great sort of way. With the way it's going, why can't we aim for a top 10 finish!!! A deep lying quality central midfielder next now please (there has got to be a Tom Cairney type player from overseas somewhere that Bulut can nab on a free).

Didn't play in either half today when WBA played Shrewsbury.

Kipre did.

Well done board and all involved

18 goals 6 assists in the 2021/22 season

He played under Steve Bruce last season and that’s enough to make any good player turn bad.

Dare I say it but the way things are panning out, we may not be down the lower end of the goals scored stats this season! Might even win more than 6 home matches which would be very welcome.

Just hopeful we can be fairly tight at the back too.
