I'm a bit confused by all this; mainly because it started as a '
Neil Warnock gets new job' thread and turned onto something else...
Other than to say my understanding is that NW declined the opportunity to take the Bluebird job back on; partially because the Committee said his 'team' (Blackwell, Jepson et al) were not part of any deal.
I'm told it didn't go further than informal discussion; hence the politician being able to say the job was never (formally) offered
Other than that, I'm going to avoid all the other stuff posted and stick to the subject matter, which is the return of Neil Warnock and his coaching team to Championship football...
I am neither shocked nor surprised, as he has hinted at a 'short-term' project more than once. That it is northern-based Huddersfield rather than a southern club has surprised me a little but then again we know he likes a challenge; or maybe more fitting, the chance to be a 'hero'
I liked Neil Warnock at Cardiff City and I wanted his return recently. But it wasn't to be and we dithered before finally going in for Sabri Lamouchi; a very capable coach, who I believe will keep us up
As someone else states, Warnock's record isn't as clear cut in its success as some would have us believe. He had major successes at unfashionable clubs but he also had some abject failures, including his last job at financially sound Middlesbroug
As with any manager, it's a gamble for Huddersfield, just as it would have been for Cardiff City (and is with Lamouchi) and one thing's for sure, by the end of the season we will know whether Neil Warnock is the Messiah or turns out to be just another naughty boy (in this case for coming back)
An interesting period ahead, methinks...
