I usually avoid posts about Mr Tan as I’m very much in the minority on here. The arguments are predictable and boring.

He’s done quite a good job. I’m being realistic, not emotional here. Look at what’s happened to the club in the last 20 years (yes, I know it was all started by Sam!). Then think about what it was like for the 20 years before that - rubbish football at the bottom of the football league in a crap stadium that badly needed knocking down and replacing.

And I know for many of you those days in the 4th division (or whatever it was called) were the happiest days of your (then) young lives. But was it really any better than what we have now?

Now Mr Tan has clearly made mistakes, but he admits that and has done a lot of good things too.

Be careful what you wish for - think what new owners have done at teams such as Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry, Blackburn, Charlton and many others. Think of Oldham who in 30 years have gone from the Premier League to the National League. Luton went all the way out of the League before returning. Look how long it took Leeds to get back to the Premier League, and Sunderland who are a massive club.

Just be careful what you wish for when you ask for new owners + sometimes it’s better with the Devil you know. :bluescarf:

And sometimes clubs are better with new owners. You have only given bad examples there and only 4 clubs.
We need new ownership end of !!

But I can tell you Tan has received some fairly good offers, but he wants a lot more.

100%

I think what Cardiff are missing is someone on the board is about football, maybe thats a Director of Football. Someone that is only about the football and can work with the manager to advise Tan.

If take tan on face value he is more than happy to carry on as it is... so that would mean hes got an an amount in mind and until its met hes going nowhere? But that is not good news for club based on his rationale in statement ..
More ups and downs this season that's for sure.

Other owners put in £200m like fyhad ect but still made profit when sold club.... eye watering one is if they sell liverpool they paid £300m for club now valued at around £3b :o can see where tan's coming from regarding price in thus scenario

Vincent Tan on wasted money:

“Neil Warnock did a good job taking us up, but then he creates a bad side and buys the wrong players. Murphy cost £11m, hardly scored any goals, then left on a free transfer. He was never worth that money. I was conned.”

Surely this is for the potential buyers rather than us, he is not going to sell us cheap and is willing to see it out with us on bread and water until he gets the offer he wants.

All the whinging in the world isn't going to distract him, so its about supporting the team IMO, until the new saviour rides in

We are just discussing it and that’s what this forum is for, views / opinions:

Funny you say support the team, our fans are certainly not turning up in numbers to watch, I know from a person with in the club, that was just over 11,500 in attendance last night.
So why is that??

AND

Cardiff City fans booing the side off at half-time and full-time on the same day that the manager gets a new deal. Unbelievable

Because we are on bread and water and the simple truth is we can't do a thing about it.

I read the article this morning over a cuppa and thought its deliberately provocative, why ?? I know he doesn't care a toss over our thoughts, it's a message to someone else, so hopefully, there are offers from parties he wants to sell to.

11,5K on a cold wet night school night with a poor squad, naive manager, and a shocking home record since Covid - It's not that bad really.

A bit of a difference comparing us to Fulham a team with history of Premier football living on the Thames.

Agree with this. Any would be investor has to look at the real estate value in the area, and London has a massive positive in this.

Probably why MD wanted to take over Charlton Athletic a couple of seasons ago,,,, or maybe it was because they play in Red?

But wasnt in premier league when sold? The point really is despite putting in 200m he got money back ... so have other owners putting in similar amounts.... so why shouldn't tan expect to get his investment back? Despite what people think city are a worthwhile investment with as much appeal as Fulham if not more? Tan knows this otherwise he'd cut his losses and sell up a loss making club one that is likely to do so for foreseable future.

Why do billionaires buy a football clubs, racehorses, cycling teams or motor racing teams? It's rarely for the payback but because they are bored and love the notoriety. He has had his decade in the international arena, time to bow out and write off your losses.

Depends on how much his losses will be if accept offer hes had? Either hes lying or hes happy to lose couple millions a month for a little while yet.

Better the devil you no sometimes. I now tan has made mistakes the big one for me was the red thing.i sat in the stadium and saw the vast majority of people wearing red shirts and scafs.90% of fans excepted it that was my worsed game as a fun the free scarf game .everyone wants us to succeed but who other than Tan wants to run city .He has put millions into it and in my time of over forty years a fun we were uses to shit really. I hated tan for the red thing still do but as for success its not been bad in his time has it .As for now its a difficult time and usually we always owe money always have a court case its the way city always has been.i think a lot of fans are followers these same people who sold there soul now aint happy they'll never be happy.until someone else comes in with more money Tan is all we have so ill make the most of the situation we are in .more mistakes will come ive no daught but just get on with it..there are core fans who deserve a say yes but a lot of our fans showed there true colours. All of us want the same thing the best for our club but who is that as our ownerTan,sulivan ,superman i think even he would cock it up.Better the devil you no until that changes of course.

Ok. He’s quite blunt and clearly his whelm is now very under.

But strip back what he said. He does have some valid points. To paraphrase Boris Johnson. He’s spaffed millions up the wall for inadequate players with zero value.

Pop quizz

Would you take. Cornelius or Callum Robinson?

Murphy or odowda?

If you answered Robinson and odowda. For the money spent on even Cornelius we could have signed both and funded their wages for a spell too.

I know football is a gamble. But due diligence didn’t seem to have been done on some of these guys.

Re: VINCENT TAN: “THE FANS SHOULD BE HAPPY”

Wed Nov 09, 2022 9:20 pm

We also had spells with other managers where we had weaknesses in the starting 11. Signed players. Who never got near the starting 11.

We boosted squad numbers with guys who have played less than Gavin whyte has had starts. And whyte at least always looks motivated.

Hmm
Tan is killing this club and he dont even know it.
He seems to be enjoying the situation the club is in...struggling with a lack of quality.

Situation since Tan took over Cardiff:

Tan Takes Over Cardiff
Sacks Dave Jones for Malky Mackay
Changes club history from blue to red
got promotion with Malky
Tan gave Malky endless amounts of cash
Malky sacked mid-season
Malky got replaced by Solskaer
Ole brought in players from Norway
Cardiff got relegated
Ole gets sacked
replaced with Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young
Cardiff fans protest
Gabbidon and Young got the boot
replaced by Russell Slade
Tan changes club colours back from red to blue
Slade got sacked
Neil Warnock got signed to reunite club
got promotion in blue
got cheated into relegation by the premier league
Warnock sacked
Neil Harris replaced Warnock
Cardiff went into play-offs and lost to fulham
Harris got sacked and replaced by Mick McCarthy
McCarthy was sacked nearly relegating the club
Steve Morison took over alongside Mark Hudson
Steve got the boot with Hudson staying on

I have a question for everyone who are slagging Tan off...

What would good look like to you from Tan?

Ok I know you're going to say sell us, but to whom?
