We don’t have a tourist tax to clean beaches. We have one because mark drakefords solution for everything is “tax it”

Beaches are cleaned by volunteers... WG not interested in tourism....the proposed hike in council tax "2nd homes" unrealistic rules on letting for holiday lets means people are selling their property..... result less tourists in areas like mine... if you look at all the things they are doing they are popular things that are intended to win votes climate.. 2nd homes.... ect as covid showed drakeford is an opportunist do and say anything to be popular with voters.

Agree .

Someone has got to pay to clean up the beaches when the dirty bastards, have gone home. The amount of rubbish left behind is shocking why should the local tax payer cough up for the beaches to be cleaned up.?
Hence the tourist tax. People will still come to Wales on holiday.. With kamikaze kwarteng in charge and the pound being worth f**k all it will be all they can afford.

Beaches are cleaned by volunteers councils only empty bins (if there are any) do realise if you stayed in wales on holiday you pay this tax...

Some people are downright evil to people on bikes.

Some merit in what you say but cyclist do not help their cause.. last night 3 cyclists turned right into rd leading to john lewis car park nothing unusual in that except lights were on red!! Saw similar on allansbank/crews rd junction ealier... think part problem as well is these cycle lanes are in stupid areas and residents are also hit by having lanes in their roads... WG have an obsession for being idiots when comes to laws in Wales and they make them despite the people saying they dont want them... hence the dictatorship part of this thread.

3 cyclists did. But how many didn’t?

Driving I’m cut up by juts as many cars and other such stupidity. The issue with cyclists is there aren’t that many so we remember more of what the arse holes do.

Absolutely right the lanes are stupid. As is slashing road lanes for bike and bus lanes. As is the sodding 20mph limit!!!. We shouldn’t be pitting road users against each other. We should be encouraging and facilitating all sensible forms of transport. As I said. I’d be taking the cycle lanes away from tbr main roads as frankly there are much nicer areas to ride around and cause less issues!

How many didn't mmmm I was only stopped at red lights waiting to go left towards bute st direction and 3 did so in that time...
Like said the idiots are destroying a once great city and turning it into a giant car park ( not city centre though) :D

It doesn't really matter does it, if there was nothing coming who did it affect?

pipster wrote:I know a bit about this - let me explain.

The main person driving this is Councilor Caro Wild - he is a Labour Councilor in Riverside / Pontcanna. Before he became a councilor he setup a rather radical cycling activist group. And he published a manifesto of all their demands (you can guess where this is going).

Mum used to take him to Greenan Common marches - climbing trees etc.

Anyway - when he got elected - he was put in charge of a council cabinet committee. The council published a proposal - and guess what - it was his old cycling activist manifesto. When Covid hit - he seized his chance. Under the guise of covid they started to implement all those road closures, blue lanes etc. He then stated that the air pollution levels on Caste st (where no one lives) would mean massive fines for the council. So he closed Castle st - citing air pollution.

What actually happened was that journey sfrom east to west Cardiff became longer. All traffic was shunted on top Lower Cathedral and Cathedral road. It was constant grid lock (which is what he wanted - according to labour activist Mike Welsh). There was then lorries, buses, national express coaches, vans, cars etc all stat in a jam on Cathedral road - and
they all kept their engines idyling whilst. so the air pollution got worse.

The council then very quietly release a questionairre. On that questionairre was the question keep Castle st closed or re open it. The council LOST the vote. So Wild / Council were forced to re open Castle St (total cost so far was 3 million).

Then all of a sudden a professor fro Cardiff Uni (Caro Wilds old cycling friend) decides to do some independent research and goes on to the nextdoor.co.uk site to ask people to fill in another questionairre. If you saw the questionairre - it was so blatantly a series of questions pre designed to come out in favour of closing down Castle St.

The questionairre was sent the professors boss - and the data was never heard of again. Meanwhile this prof and otyhers have been some other 'indpendent' work that it now seems has gone to the WAG - who now doing Caro Wild's old job for him.

Caro Wild is now climate change councilor for Cardiff (yes I didnt know we had one either)

And the result is that they are still trying to shut Castle St. They want to cause as much chaos as possible and then introduce a congestion charge. The overall plan is to make Cardiff a city of villages - so people dont travel.

The trouble is the people of Cardiff just voted Labour back in - so if you voted for Labour - you only have yourself to blame - enjoy you extended journey times, traffic jams and extra air pollution.

It made many people laugh when his partner went on the nextdoor site and pretended to not know him - but instead sang his praises about how great he is etc - whilst not disclosing she lives with him. The Labour group that run Cardiff Council are the most incompetent and dishonest bunch you could ever want to meet in my opinion (and quite a few others) - just my 2p worth on what was once a lovely city - now ruined by a bunch of infighting part time fools.

Typical one idiot can ruin a whole City

Do u know that junction? Cars come from bute street if the lights I was stopped at are red.... so yes there is traffic coming through junction and the bikes needed to look left and also for pedestrians crossing rd
as there was event at motorpoint arena .. but point is why should cyclists think they're behond the law regarding using the roads ...

Personally I don't care if a pedestrian cosses without waiting for a green man and a beep, or if a car or cyclist turn right before the light turns red if the junctions are clear, there are more important things to worry about.

While cars are having a go at cyclists and cyclists are having a go about cars the WAG are getting away with murder making driving a misery!

Drakeford doesn’t have the ability, business skills, economic knowledge or charisma to be a parish councillor let alone a member of the Senedd

Yet somehow this poor excuse of a man is our leader :banghead: :banghead:
