Cardiff dictating play nicely here. Reall calm in midfield, O'Dowda and Ojo getting involved, too. A solid start from the visitors.

0-1

GOAL! Swindon Town 0-1 Cardiff City (Watters 13)
Goal! A lovely move finished off by Watters!
Fantastic work by O'Dowda, who was released on the right by Sawyers. He skins his defender and rolls a cross into Watters near the penalty spot and he slots home.

All I can remember in the past is the last game being a bit more competitive and testing against a higher or similar tier team.
Hull are playing Cambridge right now and Huddersfield are playing Tranmere right now.
So it's not just us playing lower league teams.
These matches are still about getting the fitness levels up before the new season next week.
Yeah deffo not criticising. More interested as to whether there is new thinking amongst coaches and managers.
As you say a few are similar.
I think otherwise, listening to Morison and reading what he says, wins are very important to him in these games and he wants to build their confidence up against lower league teams.

Like now Watters scoring against a league 2 team.

2-0 up now according to Gola Live, I'm not watching. Just wondered who scored?

2nd Goal.
What I was most impressed with that 2nd goal was Rinomhota' anticipation of a mistake.
He looks sharp!

Swindon look rattled a little here. Swindon are all over the place.
Cardiff being allowed to play through the Robins in midfield. The Bluebirds, by contrast, look really coherent, encouraging to see.
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:26 am
Watters can score given the service 2-0 city
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:28 am
Should be 3-0!
Allsop with a laser-like pass to Watters, who takes a touch and slots a ball through the middle to Rinomhota, but the midfielder drags his effort wide!
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:28 am
Sheyi Ojo tries his luck from 20 yards again, this time it hits the top of the stand behind the goal, though...
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:29 am
Swindon really are piss poor
We could see 10 goals here
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:31 am
Louis Reed with the first chance for the hosts, but blasts his 25-yarder miles over the bar.
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:34 am
Ojo running rings around his man down City's right. Travels with the ball and lays off Romeo, who wins a corner for City.
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:37 am
Watters slides the ball into the net after a Collins cross, but the left back is offside.
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:37 am
We seem to have lost most of our height from the team. Bodes well for the style of play but won't be able to use long ball as a plan C
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:38 am
A slight stoppage for a Swindon injury. Cian Harries receiving treatment.
Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:39 am
3rd goal offside and it was

Finally found the link and pleasantly surprised to see us 2-0 up and with Watters and Rinomhota scoring the goals
Watters having a good pre-season and hopefully the confidence he gains will carry on into the serious season ahead

Ryan Wintle
GOAL! Swindon Town 0-3 Cardiff City (Wintle 44)
And a third!
Cardiff slice open Swindon's defence through Sawyers, Watters and Rinomhota. Wintle is hit with a first-time pass in the box, takes a touch and finishes with his left foot.

Really hope he does well Chris. Can certainly finish. Another striker or two to accompany him and I’ll be happy.

The build up for the 1st and 3rd goals were excellent. Swindon are woeful but we have been very good. Sawyers going to be a big player for us next season.

GAOL: Bluebirds go 3-0 up with a good team goal finished well by Ryan Wintle just before the half-time whistle...

I think it’s clear to see Watters has got something about him. I wonder if any of the haters will change their mind after today. Granted the opposition is poor but he’s been superb today.

He absolutely deserves his chance when you bear in mind how different our style of play is in comparisons to past season.
May suit him perfectly this season.
