As for wasting millions, aye, being ill advised and persuaded in daily phone calls by NW, who along with other managers wasted millions on players they want of which some didn't even play much LMFHAO.

I like the “wasting millions” argument. Always comes from the same people who complain he doesn’t invest or gives us any money.

Actually have to agree with you on this one

I’m guessing that Tan can’t do anything right wether it’s red shirts or equity conversion.
I certainly don’t agree with every thing that he has done but I also know that we have achieved a lot under the managers he has employed ….and yes, he has also made some bad decisions there too.
Equity conversion, if it is that, means the club has less debt and therefore a more attractive proposition to anyone interested in buying .
You could also read it as he doesn’t believe he will get his money back in any other way !!

Tan has been a very good owner (besides the rebrand idea but he did at least change back), he was left with a mess caused by previous owners who claimed to love the club yet wanted to screw us out of millions in court. Without Tan we would have been screwed. He has been let down by poor advisors and managers signings that have flopped more often than not yet he STILL seems committed to the club but is doing it in a far more sustainable way to stop us becoming like Derby or worse still Bury.
We should be thankful for having him as an owner, not trying to stick the knife in at every opportunity.

It's all very welcome, but more likely a move to ensure we stay within Financial Fair Play rules.

Has he been a good owner?

Excluding the rebrand, has he been a bad owner?

Every manager has been backed financially, some more than others admittedly. But even with “no money available” Morison has still been allowed to sign 12 players in this window and 5 players in January.

Our ticket prices are brilliant. Probably the cheapest in the whole division and he didn’t jack the prices up when we reached the Premier League unlike a lot of clubs. Villa for example increased their season ticket prices by over 50% this season. There’s clubs in League 2 that charge more than us.

We’ve not ended up in financial trouble like many clubs have in the last 11 years Tan has owned us. Bolton, Wigan, Derby, Bury, etc.

2 promotions, 1 cup final, multiple play off finishes and all but one season finishing in the top half of the Championship. If you asked fans to name the top 5 best/most successful championship teams of the last decade I imagine a lot would have us up there.

Are there better owners out there? Definitely. I’d love to have someone like the Leicester, Brentford or even Wrexham owners. However I’d argue there are more owners worse than Tan in English football than there are better ones.

Unfortunately for him some people have made up their minds and will never forgive him. Even when talking about his success at the club they can’t bring themselves to praise him, some are so blinded by their bias they’re down right hypocritical. Our 2 promotions are because of Malky and Warnock but the relegations are Tan’s fault. He simultaneously doesn’t invest in the club yet has wasted millions. He speaks to the press he gets slated for it and if he doesn’t speak he gets slated for it.

Post of the century. Spot on but some will still say you are wrong.

Think he has had his fingers burned too often with us and some of those afore mentioned managers spaffing money away on shite signings and ridiculous length contracts probably with some benefits too.

Cannot blame the bloke to be honest, its Dalman and Choo who need gone and I have said it before and will say it again after his failed attempt to buy Charlton MD should have been gone because his eye was on another club and not ours. :bluebird:

Hiya, asking for a friend, can anyone buy these Cardiff City shares? Or is it closed to certain people?
If you can buy them, how and where do you get them?! Thanks :)

It is what it is unfortunately. Assuming things don’t go horrifically tits up in the next season or 2, I think history will look back on Tan’s time here kindly. He unquestionably made a monumental mistake with the rebrand that took years to fix but weighing up all aspects of his ownership (in my opinion anyways) he comes out at a net positive.

Hopefully Morison stays for a few years and can build a new generation of talent at the club and a team all playing a certain style. That would be a nice end to Tan’s time if he left us like that.
