Who’s to say that we wouldn’t have had that run with him IN the side.

Andrew, no one knows; including bluebird7291

If we look at it in any depth, there were lots of changes to style and petsonnel at that time and any one or mix of factors will have influenced results

I'm not sure why the Nelson comment was made; the same as the other post claiming he wasn't injured :?:

His last appearance was on the 22nd of Jan against Bristol City when he set up one of their goals and then his next appearance was on the bench against the Jacks on April 2nd. Maybe he was injured but it seems like a long spell out considering he travelled with the team In early Feb. We also went on a decent run during that time so maybe he was fit but couldn’t get a look in due to form which is understandable.

Decent defender on his day with the right partner but I think it’s a dreadful decision to let someone like Morrison go and have a squad player like Nelson replace him. We will miss Morrison when he goes, don’t think we would miss Nelson as much.

My reading of this whole situation is that Morison is going for a culture change not just personnel.

I think the argument re Morrison is a different and valid one. I dare say that if SM (the player) was on similar terms as Nelson, he’d have a contract of some sort for next season. Who knows though.

Nelson is pretty limited with the ball at his feet. If we want to play the ball out from the back, well, he will need to be replaced at some point. With little money available though he will be an important player next season. Not sure he is captain material though.

Agree re limited for playing out of back however, I’m not sure anyone not directly involved with the team can say who is / isn’t ‘captain material’ as it isn’t necessarily linked to superior playing ability.

I would definitely offer Morrison a deal until January with option to extend if both parties are happy, deserves it for his service.

He’s injured til November though.
I agree that a fully fit Morrison is as good as any CB in the division. I think wages are a big factor here though tbh.

I think so but he has been with us for years so we should stick with him whilst injured. Surely wages can be reduced factoring the injury, perhaps have a large appearance bonus for when he returns to take it further up if he gets fitness and form back. If not, he can look for another club fully fit and having been paid something for a few months.

About time you put something positive up, Annis ;)

In all seriousness though, sounds very positive!

Drameh is an investment that is likely to pay off both on the pitch and sell-on wise.

I'm with Sven when he says he's gutted about Sean Morrison, I think a 12-month contract on lower wages would have been worth it, he's a leader and very experienced, which we'll need next year.

Bale... can you imagine! it would lift the whole club :king:

Re: BREAKING: “ SOME GREAT NEWS ON CCFC TRANSFERS “

This is a difficult one that the club can't win either way.

Morrison has been brilliant for us over the years but, let's be honest, he wasn't having a great season even before the injury.

He'll be nearly 32 when he's fit again (if everything goes to plan), he was never quick but will he actually be able to cope at this level a year older and after a significant injury like this ?

The club has been criticised in the past for signing injury prone players and the finances aren't exactly great at the moment.

It makes no sense for us to give him a contract just until November because, if he's OK, he could walkaway to another club after us financing him for all the time he is injured and not play another game for us.

There are only, really, two options. The brutal one is don't renew, the other one is to extend until the end of next season and then, hopefully, he'll come back strong and be a real asset for us in the 2nd half of the season and then either justify a longer contract with us or earn himself a move.

Out of sentiment I'd go for the latter but it's a tricky one.

Oh and if we sign Murphy on anything more than a 3-6 month contract on less than 10k a week id be very disappointed because he deserves absolutely nothing more.

I wouldn't even give him the time of day. How many chances does the guy want/need to prove himself ?

He's been a disaster for Preston and can't even be bothered to turn up on time according to their manager so why would we want somebody like that here ?

Put him on a pay per play contract, if anything, and then see how many "injuries" he gets in a season !!! :banghead:

I have been told some interesting news today regarding transfers and potential new signings from a person who is always spot on.

What I’ve been told is that apart from Joe Ralls none of the other out of contract players have been offered new deals and will all be released. Talks with Ralls are ongoing though and it’s a low offer, so Ralls is taking his time.

The club also have been speaking to Leeds about trying to make Cody Drameh’s loan move into a permanent one and signing him outright. He apparently loves playing for us and was shocked that he won player of the year and also loves the city and living here and is apparently keen on the move too.

A new season long loan deal for Tommy Doyle is in the works too but there’s competition from several other clubs for him and Man City will have the final decision.

Jordan Hugill will be returning to Norwich and City have shown no interest.

Uche Ikpeazu back to Middlesbrough and the club won’t be looking to make any further moves for either player.

Apparently Ikpeazu isn’t well liked by d some staff or players and apparently is a big time Charlie and can be rude and arrogant?though he’s been welcomed by the fans. This may explain why he was omitted from the match day squad for the Birmingham match.

Curtis Nelson will be appointed the new captain for next season.

Gareth Bale and Cardiff City talks have happened but a lot depends on the outcome of the World Cup play off and if Wales actually qualify or not, but apparently his family are back living in Cardiff and he’s got several business interests here and quite open to the move.

Steve Morison is open to Josh Murphy coming back and if his attitude improves he will asses him over pre season with the potential to offer him a 3 or 6 month short term contract.

That’s all I know so far.

Thanks Annis

Happy with most of that, but not sure on Nelson or Murphy, but lest see what happens

Richie Morgan was Club Captain for years and I was shocked to read he only played 80+ games

He went on to become manager and led us into a late season run that saw us finish a heady 9th in Division 2 (now Championship), which was our best finish since 1969 but we then replaced him that summer and went backwards again until Sam arrived
